A house flipper looking for quick profit. A survivor with a dream. Can two broken hearts find a place to call home?Prepare for romance and fun with the first book in a brand new home-flipping series brought to you by USA Today bestselling author Josie RivieraWhen a Miami investor calls in search of prime property flip prospects, North Carolina real estate broker Candee Contando expects to meet a … Carolina real estate broker Candee Contando expects to meet a balding, steely-eyed land shark. Turns out the first customer she’s had in months is a hot prospect in more ways than one.
Except his gaze has fallen on her dream house, a dilapidated Victorian she just bid her last penny on in hopes of creating a safe place for disadvantaged children—like the girl she used to be.
Teddy Winchester is adept at negotiating life’s curves, but Candee’s curves stop him in his tracks. She’s a warm spark in the emptiness he’s felt since his brother died, leaving him with a beloved nephew to raise.
Attraction glows in Candee’s eyes as well, but there’s also wistfulness as she points out all the reasons an old, tumbledown Victorian doesn’t fit into his tried-and-true house-flipping plan. Yet the more he looks at the house—and at her—he begins to think some things are worth the risk.
Now if only he can convince her that building a new life often starts with tearing down some walls…
When the heart flips, there’s no telling where the walls will fall.

1-800-Cupid by Josie Riviera
I really enjoyed this first book in Josie’s house flipping series! I really felt drawn to Candee Contando. Her personality and her love for children animals touched my heart! I liked Teddy, but he really made me made when he pretty much ignored his current girlfriend. He should have broken it off with her before pursuing anything with Candee. But he redeemed himself with the house and his love for his nephew, Joseph, touched my heart as well!
This was a short and sweet story and I enjoyed it a lot!
This was a sweet Valentine’s romance. Teddy and Candee were both hurt in the past. Teddy by an abusive father and Candee growing up in foster care and by her emotionally abusive ex. They were both interested in the same falling down house, but because Candee was his realtor she couldn’t tell him about it. Teddy’s nephew Joseph was cute and so was mama beagle and her puppies. I didn’t like that Teddy was dating someone else even if it was casual and long distance. He should have ended it when he started developing feelings for Candee.
This is just a fun story. A short story that is the beginning of a new series by Josie Riviera.
This story is about flipping houses and of course romance and other things. It takes place in Charleston, NC.
The heroine is a realtor and is a volunteer at the local no kill animal shelter. She is also a gorgeous woman who has been badly burned by her fiancé.
The hero is a really handsome man who really acts like a real man who does kind things for women. He comes to Charleston from Miami to look for cheap property to flip. He also is the caretaker of his nephew until the papers are finalized to adopt his bother’s son. His brother recently died and he was the only live parent as his wife had died earlier.
They hit it off and a romance begins but there is also this problem the he wants the house she has wanted for a very long time to have available for underprivileged children. She has put up her bid already and he hasn’t and she has a hard time wanting to tell him he can’t have the house.
Sparks fly and for and against one another and you have to read all about it.
I think this is an awesome story to start what I bet will be a great series.
I received this ARC to read and this review is my choice to do and I loved this story so I wanted to share it with others. I did not receive any compensation for reading this or asked to give a review.
Candee is determined to follow through with her dream of operating an after school care home and she believes that the best place for it is an old Victorian mansion. The only problem is that it’ll take all of her money to buy it and no money left over to restore it. When a wealthy investor threatens to buy her dream house, she’s torn between her attraction to him and her fear of losing her dream.
Teddy is used to difficulties in life, but when life hands him his nephew to raise, he struggles to find the right place to raise him. On a mission to find a house to invest in for a house flip, he travels to North Carolina where he meets a lovely realtor who is the first woman to ever laugh at his jokes. But, when she reveals her plans for the Victorian he wants to buy for the land alone, he knows that he might have to rethink his plans.
This is a sweet story of two people who have had a difficult past and are trying to move forward and make a better life for those in situations like they experienced. There are the typical trust issues and the expected misunderstanding, but all in all it’s a cute story that I enjoyed reading. It’s novella length and I started and completed it in an evening.
Romance – PG / kissing
Language – clean
My rating – 5 stars
What do dark chocolate caramels, cupcakes, beagles, horses and kids have in common? This sweet romance. Another great book by Josie Riviera.
1-800-Cupid by Josie Riviera
First time reading this author and loved all the details. Love learning about different locations in the book, felt as if I was there also!
Story starts out with Candee (works at the local hardware store) and she lives with her sister, Desiree (works at country club) and she’s into real estate. She bids on the mansion at the end of the street and noone has lived in it for many years.
She hopes no one else wants to buy it-it’s in Roses, NC. Story also follows Teddy and his friend (Rob) in FL and they are into helping his nephew who needs medical surgeries. Teddy meets her and expects a woman over 50 as the real estate business has been operating for over 30 years.
Candee shows other places in the area to Teddy and he shows an interest in her mansion-she thinks it’s hers already. She plans to redo the place for disadvantaged children.
He and his friend hope to flip a house for a living. She is heavily into beagle dogs and volunteers also at no kill shelter. Misunderstanding and you wonder if they will ever be together again…
Lots of surprises in this book and like how they change plans and just go with things.
Love ending did NOT see that coming. Recipe at the end-another surprise!
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
Teddy was looking for real estate in Roses, when Candee picked up her phone with 1-800-Cupid she wasn’t expecting to here someone else than her sister.
Now he had set his sights on ‘her’ Victorian house. What will happen with her dream? Can her dream become their dream?
I really liked this story, loved the unexpected date Teddy set up in the house. Looking forward to read more after this first book in a new series.
What a cute story! It is fun and flirty, but there is deep meaning behind the characters actions. Candee is caring and kind. She dreams big and is determined to succeed. Teddy is understanding and confident. I liked the dynamic between them from the beginning and the way it changed as the story progressed. They really fit well together! I enjoyed the other characters as well, especially little Joseph. Kids always steal the show!
Welcome to Roses, North Carolina and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. This is home to our heroine: real estate agent/part time hardware store worker Candee Contando. She receives a phone call from Teddy Winchester, a Miami, Florida investor who wants to purchase and restore a fixer-upper for a quick resale. However, the only property in his price range is the 1889 Victorian home she wants to purchase as a home for disadvantaged children.
Romantic sparks start sizzling from the time they meet, but what can they do about their different plans for the property and about the fact they live in different states? You need to read this sweet story to learn more about their pasts and what the future may have in store for them. Along the way you will meet other delightful characters, all of whom play a role in rounding out this story.
This is the first book of Josie Riviera’s new Flipping for You series. I “flipped” over this story and look forward to the next one.
I requested and received an ARC from the author since I have enjoyed several of her other books. However, a positive review was not required, and any opinion expressed here is my own.
1800CUPID is a delightful book.
I really enjoyed reading this heartwarming story. Candee’s dream is to start a home for disadvantaged kids. Candee’s was raised in the foster care system, after her & her sister were young teens. And having her heart broken by a past relationship. Candee’s closed off her heart to love.
Teddy is in town looking for a property
to flip. He is very attracted to Candee.
He recently became guardian to his
nephew Joseph. The more time they spend together, Teddy slowly breaks down Candee’s wall.
I loved Candee & Teddy’s story!
A MUST READ!!
