LAURELCocky and breathtakingly handsome was how I described Jason before I found him partaking in a threesome on my living room floor. At that moment, he became a player in my eyes. Albeit an intelligent and charming womanizer, he was the type of guy commitment-seeking girls should stay away from. I shouldn’t have taken an interest in Jason, yet the more attention he tried to give me, the more I … more I found myself wanting it.
JASON
Laurel was the last girl I needed catching me in a threesome. After years of admiring her from afar, I was finally ready to make her mine, but Laurel’s hot roommates became a mishap I wasn’t expecting. I never failed at getting what I wanted, and that one complication wasn’t going to stop me from proving to my sexy librarian that I was worthy of her time … maybe even her love.
This story is a standalone, but if you’d like to learn a little backstory on some of the characters, read Summer Trouble, a previous Ruby Romp Novella.
Ruby Romp Novellas contain instant lust and connections, along with an abundance of dirty talk and graphic sex. They can typically be enjoyed in one reading, so be ready for a fast-paced “get your panties wet” ride.

This is book 2 in the Ruby Romp series and this is Jason’s story. Jason is a player who gets what he wants from any girl but the one girl he wants – Laurel. He decides to finally come clean about his feeling to Laurel but something occurred that made Laurel look at Jason and definitely not in a good way. Jason has to prove he is the man for Laurel and that she is it for him. Things aren’t good for Laurel- she is going thru family trouble and she needs all the support she can get. Is Jason ready to go all in to prove his love ? Will Laurel even let him after knowing Jason’s past ? This is one rollercoaster ride of emotions that have you rooting for Laurel then finally rooting for Jason after reading all he was going thru and feeling. Laurel wasn’t going to make it easy. I dont want to give much away with this novella. Ruby Rowe did a great job with this novella with both main characters and I look to read more in this series.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
Yes! We get to read Jason’s and Laurel’s story next with Peer Review. Laurel was a pleasant surprise since Jason has been quiet about her until now. The slow burn of their relationship starts long before this Novella. Now Jason is on a mission and that is to win his girl’s heart. The drama intensifies with Peer Review. I only wish that we found out Jason’s hidden past secret from him. I think the emotional connection would have been received better that way. But Laurel makes up for it. You still get the unknown from her and you will understand her better.
Jason instantly becomes my favorite hero with this series. I still have a soft spot for Colton, but what a 180 Jason has become. Peer Review is a steam short romance that had me swaying with all the wooing that comes your way.
Once again Mrs.Rowe knocks one way out of the park. The story of Laurel and Jason is so moving. Her fears and insecurities, stemming from a past she can no longer hid from. His playboy actions made her even more hesitate, but he’s so irresistible. His fears of not being good enough for her, but his love for her pushes him to take the perfect opportunity to get closer.
I will read this book again and again. The emotions that these characters can pull out of you are amazing. I hated him, felt sorry and cried for her. Loved him and was rooting for him.
I recommend this 5 star read to everyone. Even if you are not a “reader” you should seriously pick it up. You will not regret it!!!

I have never been disappointed with any book Ruby Rose has written. Jason has love and miss and this has made him give up on love. He takes what He wants a d them in to the next, that’s in till he sees Laurel on campus but is he good enough to make her his. Laurel has closed herself off after her family dirty secret comes to light. What is it about Jason that draws her in even though she knows she shouldn’t give him her time. These two for so perfect for each other but Can they both let go the hurt and guilt to see the future they have together. I totally recommend this story.
In Peer Review we get a look at the life of Jason. He is a character we met in Ruby Rowe’s previous title, Summer Trouble and I admit I was very curious how he could redeem himself knowing his personality and arrogance. Jason was a character I admit I was curious about after ST, but still wasn’t sure how Ruby could turn him into such a loveable character. Let me just tell you, in Peer Review, she did just that!
Jason starts out his usual self, arrogant and a playboy, pretty much the typical college guy you really don’t want to have anything to do with. He is a smooth talker and get women into bed only to send them packing immediately after. He doesn’t do commitment and falling for a girl is the last thing on his mind.
Laurel works in the library at the university and lives her life by the books. Guarding herself from any men that might come into her life, she has her own reasons for keeping her distance from men.
When Jason approaches her in the Library late one evening, she is instantly attracted to this man who genuinely seems to see her. They share a conversation, and then the next day Laurel is reminded why she has sworn off men to begin with. When she walks in on her roommates and Jason tangled in a mess on the floor, she instantly regrets even having a moment of curiosity for him.
The chemistry between these two is actually very fun to read and seeing how she changes as he does, made this a very great quick and fun romp novella! I loved seeing their story and Ruby never ceases to amaze me. She has developed these two characters with such depth and emotion, that the twists within this short story will leave you breathless. Throw in a twist and angst, and this book will have you glued to its pages until the end. Bravo Ruby for another tale given to us in such an amazing manner.
I have read every book Author Ruby Rowe has written so far and she has yet to disappoint me. Peer Review is Ruby’ Rowe’s second Romp Novella and lets me tell you it’s definitely a must-read. Even though it’s a short read the author did an amazing job delivering a story with such detail that made you feel like you were reading a full-length novel. This book has it all, drama, secrets, betrayal, love, and some sexy scenes. Once you start reading this book you won’t be able to put it down. What a great read! I was so happy to see that Jason got his own story. We first meet Jason in Summer Trouble. He is the older brother of Summer and Colton’s best friend. Jason has been hiding his feelings for Laurel for over three years. No one knows the reason behind why he behaves the way he does. He finally realizes he is ready to let Laurel in and hopes he is worthy enough. Laurel at the beginning wants nothing to do with him and has trouble trusting him. she has things she is dealing with that somehow she feels once someone finds out they will not want her. This is a moving book about trust and friendship and learning to let love in. This is a very well written book with a wonderful HEA!
Boy, did Peer Review make me wish I was back in college- reading, writing and romancing hot guys like Jason! First of all, the characters in this story really interact with each other in positive, mature ways, and Ruby Rowe brings them to life with sincere emotions, dreams, heartbreaks and hopes. Laurel, the heroine, is intelligent and sexy- and doesn’t settle for less than she deserves. A modern, imperfect woman facing her fears and striving for success – I see a little of every woman in my life in Laurel. Jason, the hero, has worked for years to be a man worthy of Laurel’s love. If only more men would realize the work and time sometimes needed to make them ready for love! I REALLY like the way the two young people here deal with conflict together, treat each other with respect and honesty, and fight FOR each other and the love that they build.
There are some VERY cute passages in Peer Review that made me laugh, some heartfelt ones that made me cry, and some steamy scenes that took me WAY back to my own college days… I loved reading Peer Review. In my opinion, it had a perfect blend of sweet, silly, sexy, smart, and satisfying. A+ for Peer Review!!
AND- if you haven’t read Summer Trouble (the first Ruby Romp novella) DO THAT! The stories complement each other beautifully, and although they are stand-alone, Peer Review is enjoyable when you know some of the characters previously developed in Summer Trouble. They are both short novellas- quick, dirty and WONDERFUL reads!
What a hot but sweet love story! We met Jason in the previous book in this series – Summer Trouble – and him in this book, well, it’s the last thing we expected out of this lothario. And Ruby starts us off with a bang – they hate each other and she finds him in a very compromising position, causing her to hate him even more, all within the first chapters of the book.
It’s a quick read but so worth the short time you’ll spend reading it.
Always love a good story by Ruby Rowe! Loved Jason’s story he is Summers’s brother from book1! This was a fantastic, fun sexy novella! Laurel and Jason are perfect together! So looking forward to more from this author!
Overall rating: 4
Jason and Laurel are college seniors and both play their maturity levels well. The book illustrates a persons move from playing the field to wanting a commitment. The erotica is steamy so this is a definite adult readers only. I love the banter via email while these characters reviewed each other’s poetry. The storyline flows smoothly so this again is a wonderful quick heat read! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
