Listening to this audiobook really brought the characters and story to life. I couldn’t stop listening and was so glad all of them were available to listening back to back to back! I fell in love with Evie in this series, easily moving this series into my #1 spot of G Bailey’s books. I couldn’t get enough of them and didnt want it to end.
So for book 1, we get to meet Evie, get glimpses into her rough upbringing that made her who was is today. We get to see her tenacity and her fear/avoidance of opening up to anyone, sans Hali. I was super intrigued by the Protectors who blackmailed her pretty much (on orders, but still) and her demon “friend” haha. I didnt see some of that coming (I could guess a couple but some of the bigger ones, not so much haha). I enjoyed that the romance wasn’t the main thing in this series (at least in book 1 and part of book 2). It focused on laying the groundwork for the rest of the series and creating a lot of tension and building within the unit, before they realized they were a unit haha. I won’t give anything else away, but its definitely a fantastic story and like I said, couldn’t stop listen to the whole series in like a week .
In terms of the narration, the female narrator (sorry it just is naming them Full Cast so I don’t actually know their names) did a great job I thought, she would get a 5/5 from me. Inflections were spot on, attitude haha was great, emotional parts hit me in the chest. Would definitely listen to her again. For the male narrators, I don’t know who actually did who, but there was one that missed the mark for me. Also, the guys should have been given a direction because one had Azi’s voice super low, one had Azi’s voice with a weird accent. So for the guys I would give 3.5-4 stars, just because it sometimes was confusing.
Overall, still definitely 5 stars from me. I will be getting these in paperback at some point, loved Evie!!
Kill or be killed! That’s Evies motto! Shes the best assassin there is. Shes the definition of bada***!!! This story has lots of action! Kill Bill kind of action. Loved it! Way to start the series! Its perfect when you have enemies turning to friends and then some. Don’t forget One sexy ex-boyfriend who makes me swoon every time he talks to Evie.
5 stars for Runes of Truth by G. Bailey. This is book 1 in A Demons Fall Series. Let me start by just saying Wow. I am a huge fan of G. Bailey and this book is a great example of why. I could not put this book down. Evie is one awesomely strong woman. People fear hear and they should. “for a woman people fear, you are the kindest woman I’ve meet in years.” She has had a rough life but has made the best of it. People think they know her but they have no idea what she is really about. The protectors have been after her for her whole life but now they need her help. There is an instant attraction between her and the protectors. They need her and she might just need them too. All the men in this series draw you in . The book has twist and turns at every step. I am starting book two now.
I think this first book of the series is perhaps a tame version of reverse harem, which probably makes it a good starting point for me personally. I am certain things will continue to build in the following books of this series, but for this book I was able to read the flirting and not feel weird about it. More to come on future reviews on how well I handle more intense reverse harem. I feel like the dynamic between Evie and the several different men was fun without feeling forced or awkward. found G. Bailey’s writing style in this book to be fun and inviting. As a reader, I felt like I could sit back and enjoy the story without any commitments. I didn’t feel pressure to live up to any certain expectations. I felt free to enjoy the journey to hell alongside a fierce woman with a coterie of men seeking to finish their mission. The book was well-written and entertaining. And since we don’t have a question about it, the cover is gorgeous and so fitting! I really enjoyed the flow of this book. The story was fast-paced and held my attention. In some ways, at points, I wanted things to slow down to allow me to enjoy the story thoroughly because I really enjoyed it. However, overall I felt like the fast pace didn’t affect my ability to enjoy and understand what was happening throughout the story.
TBR 2019 Challenge: 834 more books to go!
After reading two high rating books this past Monday I was concerned with what I was going to read next. Going through my TBR, I spotted G. Bailey and just decide to go with one of her books.
I didn’t read the blurb to this, I just dove in.
Evie has been hunted most of her life. She is known as the deadly assassin for the body count that has added up. Now the people who want her dead, need her help. With the help of three Protectors and her demon ex boyfriend, Evie has to go to Hell. Literally.
The plot was good. I didn’t quite expect the end. It through me for a loop. I am going into the second book and if the series is still good I will continue on. TBR will be on hold at 834 books.
I enjoyed the book and characters. The FMC was a badass and just so likeable. All of the characters were well-developed with distinct personalities. It felt like it could be more too, maybe in further books. I didn’t see the ending coming and I loved that surprise!!!
Love it. I’m all for Evie kicking the boy’s butts and shows them how awesome and badass she is.
Best world building ever!! Meet Evie an assassin who only became one out of necessity after being hunted her whole life. Things are fine until those in charge capture her to make her do them a favor. What follows is one incredible adventure as we get it know her and the group she has to travel with along several twists and turns only to hit one doozy of an ending. It was mind blowing to say the least. If you love incredible fantasy novels then you should do read this one. I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Paranormal. Rh. 4 guys. 1 demon 3 protectors. Badass, assassin, confident, sexy, kind heroine. Finally! I’ve been waiting forever for this release. I’ve been hook since a teaser trailer. And boi was I not disappointed.Evie has always had to fight for her life. Someone is trying to killer her but, she has no clue to whom or why. Three warriors take Evie’s ward hostage for leverage. They want her help the get into hell to save kidnapped princesses. Evie is now my new favorite heroine. She is so badass and confident. This story was definitely a great intro story to a rh. Just the right amount of sexual tension and a lot of action…. not that kind of action. Have already preordered the next one. Can’t wait.
Evi is awesome! I really like how strong and independent she is. Even though people have been trying to kill her for years, she is still caring, and looks out for others. The guys are interesting – Azi, a demon, and 3 Protectors – Trex, Connor, and Nix. Each is distinct, and while at times I wanted to shake Trex, I still liked him. I also really like Hali, for a kid she is pretty independent and strong. It does end with a surprise/cliff hanger, and now I must wait impatiently for book 2 😉
