So not unlucky in love
Briar is Shelby’s best friend. Liam is Shelby’s older brother. Liam and Briar have had feelings for one another for ages but didn’t want to upset the friendship Briar & Shelby have. Also, Liam thinks the men in his family are cursed. Finally giving in to what they feel is what will set them both free. Hot, romantic, frustrating at times with some really sweet & funny parts that had me smiling. Another really good Crystal Cove love story.
4.5 Stars to Lucky Duck by Dee Ellis
Oh my gosh, this book was adorable! Sexy and sweet as well!
I wish I lived in Crystal Cove. This sweet town has everything I love. Romance being the most prevalent. With each new Crystal Cove book, we are introduced to new characters as well as visits with characters from previous books. Lucky Duck is no less sexy, erotic and romantic than the titles before. In fact, this book was so, so dirty. Liam and Briar have chemistry that is crazy erotic and off the charts.
Another aspect I loved about this book is the POV is written in Liam’s perspective (with the exception of the epilogue). I love being inside the hero’s head, to know his thoughts. Too often I find myself having to infer whether or not the hero is genuine in his feelings. Because let’s face it, most of them are cocky and arrogant. Liam was not either of those things. I found him flawed and empathized with him due to the fact he believed himself unlucky in love as well as life. He made some poor choices only because he was afraid. He was sincere and sexy and all the things I love in a hero. Let me add he was a dirty talker. Of course Liam put actions to his dirty, sexy words. Definitely a panty melter. Liam was also over-the-top possessive.
Briar is Liam’s little sister’s bff. There is an age difference of nearly ten years which was another reason Liam was hesitant to claim her. But claim her he did! Over and over.
Briar was young and fresh and even innocent, if you know what I mean. But she was not timid or hesitant when it came to her feelings for Liam. Briar wanted her happily-ever-after with Liam. Let me add, I adored her. She was sassy and not afraid to go after what she wanted.
If I had one complaint about this book, I would say it was too short. I read it in one sitting in about 90 minutes. If you’re looking for a “quickie” read, I recommend Lucky Duck as well as all the Crystal Cove Holiday romances. To date, there are six available. You can visit Crystal Cove during Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Fourth of July, New Year’s and now St. Patrick’s Day. Wonder what’s next. 😉
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
