Wheeler is the story of a professional female cyclist and her life both on and off the bike. Lauren is a long time professional cyclist. In the beginning, she is with her team in Europe. During a training ride, she has a flat tire. A good looking guy stops to help her, and Lauren realizes he is a famous actor, Graham Atherton. Their interaction leads to a romantic relationship, but this is not wholly a romance novel. It’s just a part of the bigger picture. Because he’s so famous, Lauren is thrust into the spotlight as well. Ugly and terrible things about her past are revealed. Graham is by her side as they navigate this new territory. Can their relationship survive the scrutiny? On another front is the cycling world and Lauren’s place therein. By an earlier mishap, she is now team captain. Cycling is complicated, but it’s explained in an informative understandable way. She and her team travel all over to compete, and this is a great insight. The worst part, though, is Lauren working with her ex, Felix, who is hired as director. He’s a part of her ugly past. As the story unfolds, we see how horrible Felix is in his mistreatment of Lauren. Despite this trauma, she is the type who keeps pushing and perseveres at all costs. Unfortunately, she is sidelined by accidents and injuries. Eventually, it’s just too much, and Lauren struggles to keep strong and properly recover as demons from the past come back to torment her. Will Lauren overcome the obstacles thrown in her path? She’s tough, intelligent and never gives up, but will this be enough? Graham, thankfully, doesn’t abandon her, even though he, too, has a troubled past and baggage to carry. (His random Shakespeare quotes are perfect to lighten the story a bit). Graham is kind, smart and talented. He’s the type you don’t find anymore. Can Lauren and Graham weather these storms? Read and find out! This is definitely a thrilling and suspenseful read with many layers. It’s a sharp engrossing story that I promise will capture and keep you for a while. I recommend!
Not my usual go to book, it took me a while to get into this story. Very focused on women’s cycling and very detailed in its descriptions. There was also romance to go along with it. Some parts of this story dragged on a little bit for me. I will still check out book 2.
I loved this book about Loren and how she is cycling with her team. With one friend hurt turns her life around little and she ends up meeting sexy Graham Atherton who helps her out and ends up being on here mind a lot. As the story outflows around you, you just can’t help but smile and keep reading as the story keeps getting good.
At first, this book started out slow and it wasn’t keeping my attention. But I’m glad I read it. once I got further into the book, I couldn’t put it down. I don’t know anything about cycling so it was interesting to read. I can’t wait to read more by this author!
This is the first time I read a book with a pro cyclist as the main character. I learned as I read on. The enjoyed the book. Seemed a little drawn out at times but the main gist of it was interesting. I felt so sad for all that Loren had been through and loved the strength of her character!
This book probably should have been called Obsession. There was celebrity obsession, obsession with an ex-partner, as well as an obsession to win. This book took me forever to read. That wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I didn’t have much knowledge about cycling before hand, and I wanted to make sure I understood what was happening. The only thing that could be negative is that I wish I knew more French. Not everything written was transcribed. There were a lot of trama, a lot of emotion, but a lot of love. It was a good story…enough for me to want to read the next one.
Wow!! Wow!! SARA BUTLER ZALE SKY is a First time AUTHOR for me and She BLEW ME AWAY!! The characters in WHEELER are very well developed and complexity at its best. It was definitely something different for me to read and I enjoyed it throughly!! It had me at the Very First chapter alone and COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! So Entertainingly Intense, thrilling at very turn of events and such an Emotional Marathon Ride!! A MUST READ BOOK!!

I did enjoy the book. There were parts that dragged out but all in all a good read. I most definitely will be checking out the next book.
Loren Mackenzie is a professional cyclist in Europe and known as the “Ice Queen”. When her ex, Feliz Lalonde is hired as the new Directeur Sportif for the team she knows she has to keep going in spite of being worried about what Felix will try and do.
When Graham Atherton stops on the side of the road to help a cyclist with her tire he is immediately attracted to her and knows he must track her down as he can not get her out of his head. The only problem for Loren is that Graham is an actor and soon she finds herself in the press more than what she is comfortable with.
Loren has a past that she is hiding behind her “Ice Queen” reputation and when some of it begins to get out will she be able to face it? When Felix makes it clear that he still wants Loren will she be able to turn him down?
Can Loren deal with everything that she is faced with and will Graham be there for her?
This was a good book but at times I found it too long.
I really liked Loren and my heart broke with how she grew up and what she was faced with. I was definitely concerned about her nightmares and why this wasn’t dealt with previously. It’s no wonder she felt like everyone had abandoned her. Loren worked hard to get to the top of her game and I was mad that she didn’t voice how she felt about her company hiring Felix.
I liked Graham and I really was happy with how much he was there for Loren. He was there for her with every injury that she went through and helped her with her nightmares. Then everything changed when he went to the movie set and I was so mad at him then for how he treated Loren. I was so frustrated with him!
I was shocked at the past between Loren and Felix and that she didn’t tell anyone what happened. She kept her “friends” at a distance and it broke my heart that she had such a hard time trusting people. I was so upset at what Felix was able to do to Loren and I was proud of her for getting the courage to get back on her bike after everything.
The book is very good though at making you understand the racing aspect of the sport and you could understand why teams had certain strategies the way that they did and how they utilized all of the members of the team.
The end left me pretty confused as it just seemed to end and there are things not resolved at all. Hopefully the author continues Loren’s story as there needs to be some loose ends tied up.
I had a really hard time getting into this book. I am not a cyclist so maybe that was why. For me it felt like it was all over the place, hard to keep up.
