Sabrina: Good guys save the day and criminals go to jail. It’s not rocket science, people. But then my father’s killed, I’m rescued by a thief, and my worldview is shattered. He takes me to his penthouse. His bed. I don’t have to like it but I can’t help it. His touch is everything a good girl like me shouldn’t want.Anson: Good and bad mean nothing to a master thief. I take what I want, and what … master thief. I take what I want, and what I want is vengeance. No more, no less.
Maybe the girl can help, so I’ll hide her. Protect her. And if I have to manhandle her to keep her quiet, she’ll deal. Hell, she might even like it. But she’ll learn fast that I make the rules.

While I realize that this is only the first story in the series, I dare say that I’m already enamored. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for the other masters because already this is looking to be a great series and Jane Henry and Maisy Archer set the bar incredibly high with “Knave”.
Likes/loves: making our hero a thief, Saint or Sinner, Anson Daly is downright yummy. Add in a fantastic, spunky, doesn’t let anyone demean her, heroine in Sabrina Fowler and yea…sparks will sparkle and fireworks will definitely go off so have your fire extinguisher at the ready or in some cases, a nice glass of wine or three because you might not be able to put the story down until you’re finished. I will confess to controlling myself and reading it in two sittings.
Sabrina is about to meet the Masters, she is in her deceased father’s office when she discovers the
dead body of the security officer of the building and hides in a closet when she hears a noise. She is discovered by what she thinks is a cat burglar and taken swiftly away from the scene. Anson, the unknown cat burglar brings Sabrina to the penthouse that the Masters live in and introduces her to the other residents, Ethan, Caelan, Xavier and Walker. These men make up the group of specialized thieves, hacker, bouncer, mastermind, cat burglar and security. Each member has a connection, they have lost loved ones to a syndicate, mob type group led by an unknown but they intend to find out who exactly is the enemy. Sabrina is kept there by Anson for her safety, he want her protected until they can find out who they are aiming for. There is a strong connection between Anson and Sabrina, they spark flames when they are together. The rest of the Masters agree that Sabrina needs to be protected while they continue their work as each man connects with Sabrina too. There are so many different personalities with the crew, but they are all endearing in their own way. There is a lot of intrigue, mysteries, old friends that are questionable and a mob connection they are trying their best to figure out. All the while, Sabrina and Anson are burning up the sheets as their wildly hot sexual connection takes them on a sexy trip together. As you read, it all makes sense as questions are answered and mysteries resolved. This is a page turner for sure, I couldn’t wait to read through each chapter as I flipped pages to get the answers that I too wanted!
I am looking forward to the next Masters of Manhattan book 2 where we will see much more of the big guy, Ethan as he is revealed by an old flame.
Knave is the first book in a new series Masters of Manhattan Book 1 by writing duo Jane Henry and May Archer
This grabbed me from the first page and I couldn’t stop reading until I finished the book. It is a different book then their Boston Dome series. It is more mystery, suspense and will have you reading this book at the edge of your seat. At least that is what I did.
This first sets up the story and it players, Every character has their own unique voice, they are all fleshed out even though this story focuses on Anson and Sabrine. Both are great characters. Strong, smart, loyal and also quite funny. I loved their chemistry . I also loved the banter between all the characters.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this book.
I can’t wait for the next in the series.
Loved the dynamics in this releationship!
What an amazing start to a new series by these two authors. Sabrina is a strong woman who wants to know what really happened to her father. Anson is a Dom who is part of a special group called The Masters. He is looking for who killed his mother. When these two get together, the chemistry is off the charts. Together, along with the other Masters, they slowly start to unravel the mystery of what is going on. The story is so engaging that you can’t put it down until you finish it. I loved all the other Masters and can’t wait for their stories!!
I have to confess, Jane Henry had me hooked on this book and the series by the second chapter of Knave. The characters are exciting and dynamic. The storyline is captivating and intriguing. Waiting to see how the mystery plays out may be torturous but I am convined that it will be a great ride to the end. Five men tied together by the deaths of a family member or loved one are assembled by a wealthy woman whose husband was killed. The woman has come up with answers to improbable questions and theorized a conspiracy but dies before she can provide information in person to the Masters. She’s willed her estate to these men and charged them with finding the conspirators.
Anson “Saint” Daly is a professional thief and sometime Robin Hood. Growing up a mother who was addicted to both booze and drugs he turn to thievery in order to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. The skill-set he brings to the Masters is one of stealth and the ability to break into safes, houses etc. Finding Sabrina Fowler at the scene of a murder he forces her to return to the Masters’ penthouse where she is questioned closely about her involvement in the possible crime. Sabrina is beside herself with grief because a tried & true friend was the one murdered that night. Anson and Sabrina practically sizzle off the page together. He feels he must protect her at all costs, giving up his quest for the truth in order to keep her safe. Accidentally finding the information they thought had been sacrificed for Sabrina’s safety gives them answers to the some of questions asked. In order to ensure her continued safety Sabrina gives up her personal chef business and moves into the penthouse to become part of the Masters team.
Masters of Manhattan, Book #1. A beauty, five beasts, and an unsolvable quest are irresistible!
Anson Daly, street name Saint, thief extraordinaire, and four complete strangers show up at a penthouse on Park Avenue. How does this involve him? As he soon learns, everything! Seems he’s not the only one suspicious of his mother’s death. The others have also lost loved ones under circumstances that have been hushed up. There’ve never been answers. For her own reasons, billionaire Eugenia Carmichael’s hot on the trail of whomever’s responsible. There’s just one problem. Eugenia’s been taken out of the equation. So why the mystery summons? Cagier than anyone could have known, Eugenia’s videotaped will changes everything. Leaving the five Masters her entire estate opens opportunities they could never have imagined. But six months later, the Masters still have no leads. That all changes when information drops in their laps changing everything. Is this truly what they seek? Breaking into an office and retrieving the information should be a piece of cake, especially for Anson. But a dead body, a safe already riffled. the information they need already gone? Could things get worse? Oh, yes! When Anson stumbles on Sabrina Fowler hiding in a closet, he reacts instinctively. Rappelling four floors to the street isn’t Sabrina’s idea of a rescue. Does she have a choice? Her father and the man protecting her are dead. She wants answers too. But can she be trusted? Who’s side is she on? Her father was far from a choirboy. Add in the white-hot, irresistible attraction between Anson and Sabrina despite the anger and mistrust between them, and a powder keg with the power to blow up the entire op is now front and center. Exactly what does Sabrina want? Maybe the better question is can Sabina trust Anson or any of the other Masters? One thing is clear. The sexual tension between Anson and Sabrina isn’t going anywhere. Everything the Masters have worked so hard for has the potential to collapse around them. As lead after lead implodes, is Sabrina responsible?. Are the Masters being manipulated? Is there any way this can end in other than complete disaster? When Anson screws up an op in the worst way possible, it’s only a matter of time before every Master, perhaps even Sabrina, are exposed. Where does the truth lie? One thing is clear. No one’s above suspicion, and the outcome may just be the end of the Masters!
This book is a thrill ride from beginning to end. I never knew from one moment to the next who was going to do what or why. Each Master has an agenda. Nothing is what it seems. That these five men can cooperate, build a legitimate business, conduct a covert mission, and hold their own against each other is nearly impossible. Even a common goal is barely enough for them to cooperate. When Sabrina is unwillingly thrown into the mix, all bets are off. She’s a feisty, independent, single-minded woman who’s not about to kowtow to the wishes of a bunch of dominant men. Uncontrolled chaos ensues. Every one of these people is there for a very different reason. The Masters may be united by a common goal, but they couldn’t be more different. Xavier, de facto and self-appointed leader, is arrogant to the point where I absolutely hated him at times. Ethan is the brilliant geek who only seems able relate to his computers and hacking, oblivious to everyone around him. Caelan. hulking giant, has a fierce outward appearance hiding soul-deep strength and beauty. He was by far the easiest for me to relate to. Walker may just be the most enigmatic. But it’s Anson and Sabrina who’re the soul of this story. Neither wants anything to do with the other. The scorching heat between them is the last thing they want or need. In my opinion, the unrelenting suspense, constant conflicts, steamy sexual encounters, and complete unpredictably of this book makes this Jane Henry and Maisy Archer’s best work since their Boston Doms series. I couldn’t put this book down. Congrats, Ms. Henry and Ms. Archer. This book deserves so much more than five stars! It’s truly a masterpiece!
A final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the authors. They work hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the authors an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
This is an excellent read and a wonderful start to this new series. It is an enticing blend of romance, BDSM, mystery, suspense, and intrigue. I loved Sabrina and Anson together. Great chemistry, witty banter, and hot attraction all rolled into one. The plot keeps your interest through many twists and turns and also introduces us to the other members of The Masters; Caelan, Walker, Ethan, and Xavier. I can’t wait for their stories in future books. Anson and Sabrina’s book is steamy and entertaining.

Stunning start to a sexy suspenseful series
Jane Henry and Maisy you have done it again. “It” being creating a cast of interesting characters and an engrossing plot line.
In this the first book of the Masters of Manhattan series Sabrina and Anson are combustible together, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. The mystery, that appears will be continuing over the course of the series was compelling and kept my attention as I eagerly turned the pages of the book to see what happens next. It was satisfying to get some answers to the deaths that brought the Masters together. I can hardly wait to read the second book “Hustler” to see what happens next.
Creative, erotic, character-driven and suspenseful ROMANCE – a CAN’T-MISS must buy****!
OMG, just finished the BEST novel! It’s so creative that I am hard pressed to identify the trope, but it is the most unique yet compellingly suspenseful ROMANCE novel I have ever read. “KNAVE” kept this reader/reviewer spellbound! For each mystery solved another one surfaced, so I had to read just another chapter . . . just to see what happened! As always, Authors Jane Henry and Maisy Archer offer their readers a wonderfully creative, character-driven plot full of individuals so rich they seem to walk off the pages and into the minds and hearts of their readers. Archer and Henry have the awesome ability to use words to weave remarkable romances within amazing circumstances. In “KNAVE”, the love between Sabrina and Anson, will take readers into the diverse yet intriguing world of high stakes MAFIA retribution. Additionally, readers are given the privilege of watching how these circumstances take the protective instincts of a very bad man and morphs them into a passionate love for the woman he rescued. On the other hand, we are also given a glimpse into the swift process of gratitude and loss morphing into a passionate grasp to feel and to be safe and cherished. In the authors’ own words, “they fell hard” for each other! “KNAVE” is a wonderful love story, and while I was given an ARC to prepare this honest and voluntary review, I plan to purchase a copy to support these extremely talented AUTHORS! I STRONGLY recommend you purchase your copy of “KNAVE”, today. You will be so glad you did. Happy Pages!
