He’s the hottest player in Major League Baseball, the most notorious playboy in all of Manhattan…And my fake fiancé for the next three months….I was drunk-dialing my ex the night I met him.Six-three, sexy as sin and so incredibly rude I could smack the asshole smirk right off his face. Long story short, we got off to a bad start. But when the tabloids interpret our sparring as Drew Maddox … our sparring as Drew Maddox “groveling” with a “mystery brunette,” his agent presents us both a proposal:
Shacking up as a couple this summer.
It’s an alleged “win-win.” I need to prove to my ex that I’m fine. Drew needs to prove to his team that he’s stable. Thanks to his on-field brawling and never-ending lady drama, Drew Maddox has suddenly found himself on the trade block – which means he needs a fast, easy way to show the team that he’s settled down.
Hence this fiance thing.
Our fights are real, our kisses are fake, and thanks to the nonstop heat between us, I’m starting to mix up all my signs. But whether it’s real or fake, there’s one thing I do know:
I’m already addicted.
*** HOTHEAD is a standalone in the Irresistible Series ***
Sweet Spot – Lukas & Lia
Bad Boss – Julian & Sara
Dirty Deeds – Emmett & Aly
Hothead – Drew & Evie
more
This book had me hooked and hot from the start. Drew is a Major League Baseball player who needs to show the team he isn’t the hotheaded player they think he is or they will trade him. Evie has recently had her heart broken and whilst at a party for her best friend stumbles across Drew Maddox. Sparks fly between these two both with chemistry and tempers. A chance photo in the media turns these two into a fake couple, one using it to get her ex to see what he lost and the other to improve his reputation. However with a chemistry as volcanic as these two have faking it might not be so hard. Their story is about opening your heart and learning to trust. Hothead will give you an innings full of every emotion from hilarious moments, frustration, tears, some seriously sexy scenes and a connection so strong that you will not be able to help but feel it. Drew and Evie are the book couple of 2018.
Gaaahh! Completely adored this story!! Funny, angsty, and super HAWT!
“If any one person deserved to be the picture next to the Oxford definition of masculinity, it was definitely this prick right here.”
Evie Larsen believes in love. In spite of a rough upbringing and a recent painful breakup, she still believes in love and a HEA. An annoying run-in with the bad boy of baseball gets her all hot and bothered. Insane chemistry aside, she knows better than to give in to him.
Drew Maddox is a cynic. He believes all good things turn sour. He doesn’t believe in love. He has few true friends and a family he can’t stand. His one true love is baseball. It’s his sole focus. However, his bad boy ways and bad press have put his career on the line. He needs to clean up his act.
“She was both my problem and my solution, and I was pretty sure I hated her for it.”
One chance encounter with a sexy little firecracker is spun into a promising publicity stunt. Neither Drew nor Evie can deny that a fake relationship might be advantageous to them both. They just need to keep things businesslike and their hands off each other. However, that’s easier said than done when there’s serious mutual attraction between them.
“While I prided myself on having no limits, I’d apparently found my first one. Resisting this damned woman.”
Wowzers! I’ve read the previous book in this series, Dirty Deeds, and thought it was fabulous! Once again, the author brings her own brand of sexiness and humour to this novel, and I absolutely adored it!
Drew is cocky and brash, and one hot-blooded alpha! I loved how much he wanted Evie, and how hard he tried to fight it. I liked that he didn’t just grab his opportunity when it was presented to him on a platter, and that underneath his playboy façade lurks a decent heart. Evie absolutely tested his self-control!
“The way she seeped into my skin and got into my head was everything I never wanted, but at this point I was too lost in her to stop it.”
Evie was so hung up on her previous boyfriend due to their long history, however, there’s no denying the sizzling desire between her and Drew. I loved her character! She was sassy, confident, and didn’t put up with any of his nonsense. I loved how she challenged him. He’d really met his match in her.
This was a fabulous read with great characters, amusing dialogue, and just the right amount of angst. Evie and Drew together were so swoony!! Thoroughly recommend!
OMG I loved this book so much. Like, loved, loved, loved it so much that I stayed up most of the night and then disappeared from my family the next day because I had to finish it. I’m now a walking zombie Ms. Rhys!! But worth it. So completely worth it since I found another all-time favorite romance book.
I’ve been in a fake relationship trope mood lately so this one totally caught my eye after reading Bad Boss and loving it. If you like this trope as much as me this book is one of the best hands down.
Drew Maddox is the best pitcher in baseball. He loves playing in NYC and never had to worry about being traded until the night his agent drops the bomb that there have been ongoing discussions among management for the past year about possibly trading him given his volatile behavior. This totally throws him off balance since he doesn’t want to leave his team, especially since they are poised to win the Series. He’s desperate enough to be willing to do anything to improve his “hothead” image and it turns out that the tabloids give him the answer to his dilemma.
Evie is not at her best. Her fiancé (and best friend of seventeen years) recently up and left her but she’s dragged herself out of her pity party to attend a real party for her girlfriend. Only once there she ends up drunk dialing and word vomiting to her ex which Drew interrupts, mortifying her and angering her in the process. Their exchange is seriously one of the hottest meet cutes I’ve read.
Unbeknownst to them they get photographed together with the tabloids running the story the next day that Drew and Evie are an item. A girlfriend may just turn Drew’s reputation around and Evie is desperate enough to agree to the fake arrangement.
Do You Believe in Love?
One of the things I loved best about this story is the theme that Rhys explores: Can you trust love? Or more specifically, is love real?
For Drew, love doesn’t exist. His trust has been brutally tanked several times by those who supposedly loved him to the point that his default mode is to be anything but trusting. He’s been shown time and time again that love is merely a smokescreen because in the end everyone is selfish.
“Whether they want to or not, everyone is going to wind up screwing you over at some point. It’s just prat of their survival instincts.”
Evie on the other hand, believes in love despite being knocked down a time or two herself. Yes, it may hurt and people may have let her down, but she hasn’t let it break her.
“Love is worth the risk. Even if it doesn’t pan out, it turns you a little closer in the right direction. Every time.”
Rhys does such a fantastic job of weaving this theme throughout the story, letting you get to know each character and what makes them tick, but also showing you how their time together helps to rebuild their trust in love. It’s so expertly done because of her great character development.
I seriously love Drew AND Evie and together they are one of my favorite couples. Drew is sexy because of his self-confidence and his witty banter. Plus, he is one of the best dirty talkers I’ve read. I mean the mouth on this guy- OMG! I loved it. He’s confident without being arrogant and doesn’t stoop to the level of Evie’s ex when Mike tries to bait and taunt him. He just lobs it right back at him, too cool to play games and it’s awesome.
Evie is the type of female character I adore. She’s also self-confident, extremely likeable and gives the best comebacks. I love how she doesn’t react how Drew anticipates in the best of ways and he finds it so incredibly arousing. She is such a strong, sexy woman and when push comes to shove, she calls Drew out on wanting all of her but not giving all of himself in return.
Early on you see her get over her ex but that plot line doesn’t overtake the story because he’s honestly not worth it. You get just enough to see that she deserves more from a man and the rest of the story is about her and Drew getting to know each other and becoming much more than fake. Seriously, the chemistry between these two was sizzling from the start and just builds and builds. If hot sex scenes are not your jam then this might not be for you because they were AMAZING. Just saying.
This was seriously the perfect romance for me. Two strong characters, a ton of heat and chemistry, a great storyline without needless drama, character and relationship development that was spot on and just an overall great read from start to finish, including a wonderful epilogue. I think Stella Rhys has my number when it comes to romance books because I’ve loved all her books but this one is my most favorite and is now on my list of most favorite romance books of all time. Read it. You’ll thank me.

This is the first book I read by Stella Rhys, (I know, I know I started at the end of the series) I was not disappointed. This was a fun, and intriguing story. I absolutely devoured this book, and started the first book in this series afterward. Ms. Rhys has gained a new fan. For some reason this book is on my mind, therefore I needed to write a review to tell other people of how good this author is, this book was well written, witty, and immensely entertaining. I loved it.
h: Evie
H: Drew
(Dual POVs)
YES! I couldn’t be more happy that I took a chance on this book! After not connecting with the previous book in the series, Dirty Deeds, I was a little hesitant to try this one. I loved Drew and Evie in Dirty Deeds so I decided to give it a try.
Drew and Evie meet at a birthday party for Aly, the h from Dirty Deeds. Tabloids start rumors that Evie and Drew were having a lover’s quarrel, which inspires Drew’s agent to come up with the fake relationship idea. Drew needs to look like he is stable and calm in order to not get traded and Evie wants to prove to her ex that she has moved on.
I LOVED these two together. They were such a perfect balance for each other. And, I’m in LOVE with Stella’s hot and heavy scenes.
Favorite quotes:
” Drew Maddox. I’ll make you regret it if you don’t let me go right now,” Evie whispered. Apparently just the tingle of her breath so close to my lips was enough for me to risk it.
“Make me regret it then.” -Drew
“If I loved anything, it was the routine I had before you came along- in fact, if anyone told me you would happen one day and asked if I wanted to avoid that, I’d say yes a thousand times over, because I have a job to do, a team to lead and a fucking ring to win. But now that you’re here, now that I’ve felt you and I know what it’s like to not have you, I can’t stand for that either because I fucking miss you, alright?” Drew demanded. “I want you to come back to me.” -Drew
I absolutely loved this book! HOTHEAD is a great fake relationship turn into real love read, and Drew Maddox was just what I needed.
I must have been living under a rock because how did I now know this hook was out?! I totally loved it. It is EVERYTHING! I loved Drew, who is a big jerk but is actually a big marshmallow inside. I loved Evie, who is sweet and light but had a special be of steel. I now must go back and read the rest of the books in this series.
After a break up (that kinda wasn’t a break up?!?) Evie meets up with Drew, a hot, MLB player, and agrees to be his (fake) girlfriend. They are both supposed to get something from this platonic relationship. But it turns out, temptation is hard to resist, and sometimes, you don’t really want what you think you do.
Evie is a girl who came from a inauspicious beginning, but with the help of her long time boyfriend is trying to become the woman she wants to be. When he pulls the rug out from under her, and decides he needs “time”, she doesn’t react well. She meets Drew when she is at rock bottom, and is vulnerable to his smooth talking ways.
Drew is baseball’s bad boy. He has a temper, and a reputation for trouble. But he is also dedicated to his sport, and the best pitcher in the league. He needs something to prove that he is growing up, and becoming the player he can be, on and off the mound.
Drew has a hard time trusting, because of his past. Evie is just a bit naive, and can’t resist his playboy manners. This is a recipe for hotness, and boy, do they deliver! This book is definitely worth reading, and everything we expect from a hot MLB player and his lady!
This book was the first I’ve read from this author and it was really good. I had to read it because it was a sports romance and I’m so glad I did. Even though in the beginning, it was a little slow for me, it definitely got better and interesting. Even though it’s a standalone, I’m going to have to read the previous books in this series. Great book.
I’m so glad to have found Stella Rhys because every single book she writes just keeps getting better and better!
Evie has been dumped by whom she thought was her forever. As she’s drunk dialing the ex-fiance, Drew, a professional baseball player, happens to overhear the conversation and the sparks fly immediately between the two of them! But when the press puts them front and center the next day, Drew and Evie take the bull by the horns and use it to their advantage.
I love how Evie can give just as good as she can take. Even though Drew clearly affects her in more ways than one, she is determined to make their “show” of a relationship work for the both of them. Drew needs to look like he’s changed so his team won’t trade him and Evie needs a place to live while she saves for a place closer to work. What neither of them expected was their fake relationship to take a real turn and Drew and Evie begin to share the more intimate pieces of themselves with each other.
I absolutely fell in love with Evie and Drew. They were hilarious together and the chemistry between the two of them put my Kindle in danger of melting. Lord, the sex between the two of them was BEYOND hot. Everything about their story was perfect.
Hot Head is a story of two people’s journey of loss, betrayal, hurt and embarrassment which in the long run is all overcome by the greatest joy in the world, love.
