This is the story of Jenna who left her small town many years ago and never looked back. Ben, her school girl crush has closed off his emotions after the death of his wife. Although the story was tough to read at times, it was predictable and it was easy to see which path the story was going down. For the most part, the book was easy to read but there were several parts that I felt dragged a little and nearly made me give up reading. Character development was good, if a little ordinary
It was so brilliant, breathtaking and astonishing.
It was filled with sweet moments and suspense. I was so into it and was always wondering what’s gonna happen next. There were some unpredictable events which had me gasping.
Loved not only just Ben and Jenna but the whole of Langley park. The moment I met Sam and Zoe I knew I’ll love them. AND kate. And Kathy. And Neil. Even the bicycle shop owner Ted. It was that typical sweet small town.
Jenna returns to Langley park because of a phone call. She meets Ben, her childhood crush.
Ben is an architect and Kate’s dad. Kate is his whole life’s purpose. UNTIL Jenna.
They both had their own past baggages, which neither of them has dealt with. With each other they start healing and seeing happiness.
But everything is not all right as there is someone out there who is after Jenna.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
This was a really good heartwarming read!!! I of course fell for Ben from the beginning. His whole situation captured me. Jenna on the other hand, had so many demons she needed to settle with in order to find herself and her true home. I loved the whole Langley atmosphere, it was depicted so well. I hope to see more of Sam and Zoe .
Thank you Krista Sandor for introducing me to Langley Park!!!
The Road Home by Krista Sandor is such a wonderful introduction to Langley Park that makes you never want to leave. We meet Jenna, who has to return to Langley Park when she gets a call informing her that her mother was just admitted to the Psychiatric ward of the local hospital. Jenna doesn’t have the best relationship with her mom and is skeptical of her and love in general. After a series of events she finds herself staying in Ben Fischer’s carriage house. Ben and Jenna have a brief, but impactful past and when they are reunited the sparks immediately flare again.
Langley Park is the perfect little community where everyone knows everyone and makes you wish that you could live there as well. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, especially second chance.
This is the first book I have read from this author and it’s a great book. I love Jenna and Ben’s story: it was heartbreaking. intriguing, and beautiful. I will read more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jenna Lewis works for professors who created a reading curriculum targeting struggling children n high-risk schools and she loves the freedom that the job gives her with moving every two years. She has a casual relationship with Pilot Nick Kincade but everything changes when her mom is taken to a psychiatric facility near Kansas City.
Now Jenna must come home and deal with her past. Luckily she runs into her friend Zoe Stein who offers her a place to live in her brother’s carriage house while Jenna deals with her mom.
Ben Fischer is dealing with his own past and raising his daughter, Kate, as a single parent. He is shocked when he finds out that Jenna is living in his carriage house as they met in the past.
As Jenna and Ben begin to get close it is clear that someone is after Jenna and the two must discover who could possibly be after her. Can Jenna get over her own fears with Ben and will he be able to save her?
I enjoyed this book and it had lots of mystery and romance.
I liked Jenna and after learning about her past it made sense on why she needed to get out on her own. I was shocked at learning what her mom did to her in the past and I was proud of her for still coming to help her mom when she needed her. It really showed the type of person she was.
Ben was a great father and I loved his relationship with Kate and the rest of his family. My heart broke when learning about his wife and it truly hit home for me as a friend of mine passed away just over a week ago the same way which was difficult to read.
The chemistry between Ben and Jenna was great and I liked how they started slow but both remembered that night in high school as a key part of their lives.
I did figure out by 40% who was behind everything and I was glad that I was right!
The end was filled with some tension with everything but I had faith in Ben!!
The epilogue was perfect on all accounts!
