WILLOW
I tried so hard to fight for us. But some things can’t be saved.
They say if you really love someone you have to set them free. If the person comes back, they’re meant to be yours.
The only problem with that theory is even though he came back, he always left again.
How much heartache can one heart take?
How much rejection can one person take?
The man I love more than life itself has broken me.
That’s why I have to leave.
Marcus Reed & Willow Brooks ~ Book 4 in the Enemies To Lovers Series
This is book 4 in the Enemies To Lovers Series. Each book in the series is about a different couple. To get the full experience of their friendship I’d recommend that you start with Heartless.

Another Fabulous addition to ENEMIES TO LOVERS series , Ruthless is the fourth book in the series and this time we get Marcus & Willow story, and as expected Michelle has delivered yet another beautiful story. I literally devoured this story.. It’s captivating, heartbreaking, deeply emotional and soulful . Just a cautious advice be ready to shed some tears. I was introduced to Michelle book’s with this series, and one of the many things I like about her writting style is that it comes to you so natural and easy, you might as well think the fictional story you are reading is actually happening right in front of you. Her characters have are realistic and have so much depth and are so much more than just stunning looking people. From the previous story we knew Marcus had been dealing with health issues and we shed some tears for him . This story takes us on another level of emotional roller coaster , the depth, emotion and pain are so beautifully written.
Marcus has had a tragic childhood and lost his family. He is introvert and is only close to his best friend Jaxson. Though the other screw crew guys are there but no one can understand him and get him like Jaxson. Marcus doesn’t do relationship and doesn’t let anyone get close to him.
“Letting someone in means, I have to open myself up to losing another person.”
Willow and Marcus meet when they’re teenagers and falls for him and they become friends. Marcus also has feelings for her but he keeps pushing her due to his insecurities and when he finally decides to takes their friendship move friends zone to a relationship he has to push her out of his life again .
“I tried so hard to convince myself that I didn’t need you. The moment you walked out of my life I realized you were and always will be the most important person in my life.”
Marcus and Willows relationship and chemistry is so natural and perfect . This story packed with emotional punch and made me Feel everything. I laughed, swooned to the infinite levels and shed tears . It was utter perfection. I am anxiously awaiting for the final book in the series.
4*
Marcus and Willow don’t start their friendship off well. She meets him when Evie invited her to the screw crews party. He feels threatened by her presence, she see’s him when others don’t. He’s frightened that the past and family will define him, but has he left it too late?
An emotional story with fabulous characters, I love this group of friends and their relationship. Miss Sebastian will have you laughing out loud.
Only affection for this book! 4 stars
My heart broke for Marcus while reading about his childhood past. After what happened in his past, he was a ruthless, womanizing jerk in the present. He was a jerk to Willow when they first met, but there was an instant spark. But because of his past he doesn’t let anyone in but Jax (from book the before this one, Careless). I did love the unwavering loyalty and friendship between Jax and Marcus. Willow saw underneath the jerkiness and was intrigued by him, and he was intrigued by her as well. They become friends even though they both have more-than-friendship feelings for each other. I admired and cheered Willow for standing up for herself with Marcus! I appreciated Marcus’s journey and realizations by the end of the book. They have tension between them, but there was not much steaminess until the end of the book. I like the books I read to have more steam, but I will forgive because I love this series so much. When misunderstandings and life happen, will they be able to find their way back to each other? Read this emotional and tense love story and find out, because I recommend it!
Marcus and Willow’s story is beautifully written. We see them grow from the first time they met. Marcus’s life wasn’t easy and I am super excited he gets an HEA. Miss Sebastian is amazing and balances the story. I can’t wait to read Rhett’s story.
What a colourful cast of characters, they’ll have you laughing, swooning and tears rolling down your cheeks. It was always going to take more than a bullet wound to keep Marcus down. We were taken back to the beginning and now I have a better understanding of the relationship between Marcus and Jackson. My heart broke for a young Marcus, witnessing such horror and being left to fend for himself. He was waiting for the gene pool evil within himself to come to the fore and hurt those he let in. What happens if we put our life on hold expecting the worst and pushing everything good away?
Wow what a amazing book to this series. This book will have you feeling the words that are writen. This book is a must read if you have been reading the series.
Love this series!
Really enjoyed Ruthless. Marcus and Willow’s story, really pulls at the heartstrings. You got to see a whole new side to Marcus.
Marcus is a bad boy who keeps everyone at a distance. That is until he meets Willow. She blows him away and slowly captures his heart. Even though he pushes her away. She’s always there for him…
Will he finally come to his senses and fight for the women he loves?
And after so much anticipation, we finally have the story of Marcus. In previous books, suspense was created about what would happen to him, leaving readers intrigued and anxious. Now, we can keep track of what happened in his past that brought him to the current point and what his choices will be from now on. Michelle fulfilled the promise, delivering a beautiful book.
Marcus will make you cry. Too much. This is the densest book in the series. What happened to his family when he was a child is heart-breaking. With so much tragedy in his life, it is understandable that he would close to protect himself, not allowing anyone to know him and approach.
His friendship with Jaxson is very beautiful to accompany. The two are more than friends or pretend siblings. One is the other half of the other. They understand each other and complement each other.
Willow was the ray of sunshine in the storm. Her light, loving manner left no room for Marcus to ignore her. The attraction between them had existed since the first encounter, as well as more feeling, but I liked this building of a friendship between them. Even though it took years before they got together, Marcus needed this friend, he needed to trust her and feel safe. With everything that happened and with his way of not seeing himself in a relationship, it was important that step more slowly.
The book works well on these issues of the past. Only at the end of the book will the two protagonists be together, but this in no way compromises the narrative. The letters he wrote before the surgery guarantee another crying moment. It took years and a scare for Marcus to realize that life is worth it, that for more fear and no guarantee whatsoever, today is here, present, and that is worth a lot. Marcus and Willow present us a beautiful journey.
Ruthless by Michelle Horst (Heard) is the fourth book in her Screw Crew series, but also the one I was most dreading. Willow and Marcus’s story has torn at my heart strings since the first book in the series, although we are finally given the entire picture in this book.
Marcus’s story is one full of heart breaking sadness as well as over coming adversity. I wont go into detail, but if you don’t know already do yourself a favor and read all the other books first! Willow is the only person, besides his best friend Jaxon that he is able to let see past the wall of pain he has built around his heart.
Willow sees Marcus for who he really is not just the cocked bastard everyone is used to. She tries desperately to get him to let her into his inner circle, but first trying to become his friend. However, eventually friendship just is not enough for her.
Michelle writes with passion and emotional story that jumps off the pages. I highly recommend this book and every other book in the series, but make sure you have tissues for this one. It is going to be a bumpy ride.
o far all the books in this series i have loved but i felt that this was the most anticipated book out of all of them. Marcus’s book was the one that needed to read and it didn’t disappoint loved every part of it.
Not only did we find out about Marcus’s past but i did love how we went to the beginning of why Marcus was the way he was. We found out what happened in his past and how he became friends with Willow.
Marcus was such a complex character and for what he goes through even though he can be a prick you really love him anyway because you know there is a good guy underneath. The way he is so back and forth with Willow you can understand but you also want to shake him and get him to pull his head out of his butt.
Willow was such a good character she loved with her whole heart and really just cared for Marcus, but there is always a certain point you come too where you just have to say enough is enough and sometimes walk away. I loved how you always knew that Willow would always love Marcus but sometimes Love just isn’t enough.
Absolutely loved this story and so glad we got It, after the drama in the first books surrounding him it was finally awesome to read it.
Love this series and if you haven’t read it yet you need too and if your up to this book it’s a must read. You also can’t miss out on meeting miss Sebastian love this character.
A massive 5 Stars for this book and now i can’t wait for Rhett’s book another story that I’m anticipating.
I could cry. I loved Marcus story so far from the previous books because his was the most authentic and touching one. But maybe this was exactly the reason why I had such high expectations of this book and why it turned out to be slightly disappointing. Not because it was bad though but because everything built up to this point and his book was just not what I hoped it would be.
The book was as well written as the previous ones and the story showed parts of why Marcus became the person he is now. It gave insight in his thoughts and which part Willow played in his life. The thing is, we got to know so much about Marcus already and lived with him through such a tough part in his life in Careless that his book now seemed like a simplified version of his life. You definitely have to have read the previous books because the most important turn in his life was not explained in this book but just left out completely. So if you don’t at least read Book #3 before this one you will be confused as to what happened at the turning point. Actually, Marcus story begins already in Book #2.
I liked his story but there wasn’t much that I didn’t already know which made the story almost seem like a short recap of his life.
I didn’t like the constant back and forth with him and Willow but that was to be expected because their ping pong relationship was known from the previous books. What bothered me most about it though was how Willow did not seem that affected by everything. She wasn’t as upset or confused or heartbroken as I’d hoped or thought she would be. This all played into how I felt this book was not as special and not as emotionally gripping as I’d expected. Which does not mean that it was a bad read. Not at all. I still enjoyed it.
Again, we got some information about Rhett and I just hope that his book will have a lot more to tell.
Ruthless by Michelle Horst is by far my favorite Screw Crew novel. Not only is it powerful, but it’s written differently than the others. It’s more based on friendship than lust, trusting and letting people into your heart than intimacy. I have always wanted to know more about Marcus and I am thrilled that his story has finally arrived!
Michelle you made me cry just within the prologue! Marcus’s story is one full of emotion, heartbreak, heart-mending and love! His & Willow’s story will capture you from the moment they meet back in college and grip you through the trials and tribulations they encounter. If you have been a Screw Crew reader and fanatic from the beginning, then you have met Willow already. You already know of Marcus’s tribulations, but their story takes you back from the very beginning. You see the build-up from friendship to mistakes/breakups and the circle that goes round and round. The question you keep asking; can Willow’s heart keep coming back for more heartbreak?
Michelle writes with passion and emotion. Her words are written with feelings that fly off the pages and embed within your soul. These books are ones to be devoured. The Screw Crew series will hold a special place in my heart, on my shelf, especially Marcus’s!
“It’s funny how loving someone can hurt so much. I think it’s the hope you have that things might change someday. You hope they’ll love you and every day it doesn’t happen it becomes a suffocating pain that eats away at your heart.”
There are so many words running through my head to describe this book and the ones before, but the point is… READ THIS BOOK! It’s a MUST READ! A Gazillion Stars!
Trying to avoid people at his party he sees Evie, but what gets his attention is the girl with her, when the look at he’s other parts of him start to warm, she’s dangerous, the kind that men will kill for.
When Willow sees Marcus she’s frozen by the look of him, and how he makes her feel.
Marcus and Willow decide to be friends and it works out well for them until Willow realises that she’s in love with him, and Marcus realises he wants more, but too late after Willow leaves telling him she deserves to be happy.
Years later when they meet again they realise they want to try, the chemistry is still there, that’s until Marcus gets news that has him pushing Willow away again.
Willow never gives up on Marcus and it takes a moment of clarity and some pushing from he’s friends to make Marcus realise that Willow owned his heart and he just has to hope that she’s still there for him to give it to. Their game of Not So Fast was one way to find out.
I love the part where we got some from Sebastian’s version in the story, and how happy she is about her boys finding love.
Another amazing addition to one of my all time favorite series, Ruthless is Marcus and Willow’s story. I’ve been dying to read this since I first started this series. While every one of these books will hit you right in the feels Marcus’ story hits even harder. From the heartbreaking start to the soul deep absolute love between Marcus and Willow this book packs one heck of an emotional punch.
There’s so much to Marcus that we haven’t really gotten to see until now and let me tell you, he’s even more irresistible than I expected. He has so many layers to him hiding the genuinely kind man with a huge heart. Willow is the only person to fully see beyond his walls the way Jaxson does. Her love for him is so pure, utterly devoted to him she accepts Marcus any way he comes. These two have that once in a lifetime true love that you can’t help but cheer for as the fight through ups and downs.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get enough of all these characters. I adore every single one of them.
