LoyaltyThat’s what it’s all about here.I’d do anything for one of my brothers,Even go with his old lady to a parent-teacher conference. But when I see the sweet little number who’s the teacher,Suddenly, school’s right up my alley. She’s innocent, naive, and sexy as Hell. Damn, I just want in her pants,And to maybe teach her a thing or two.And I’m not backing down,I’ll get to her.But if she ever … backing down,
I’ll get to her.
But if she ever finds out the truth about our connection,
It’ll sever the ties and ruin it all.
I’m just going to keep my mouth shut–
And all over her.

I am starting to lose faith in this series. The quality has slowly deteriorated and the books have become shorter and shorter and therefore more rushed. While Torn had a very good and different start, it ended up exactly where I feared it would, with the same growing pattern of a repetitive climax, ending and a lackluster depth.
Believe it or not, but I actually liked the beginning of Torn. I was hooked to the story from page one with the different take on the characters and a unique start compared to the rest of the books. It got even better with the slowly revealing mystery of both Becca’s and Storm’s past. Her relationship with her overprotective brother made it even better since we didn’t get to know why he was so overprotective and it really put some oomph behind the drama and the romance. The romance was intense from the beginning and I enjoyed seeing it develop as well as struggle with both their secrets and a brother trying to keep them apart. It was almost the perfect recipe for a great relationship, however I did find it a bit lazy and unimaginative with an insta-love, and the lengths Storm took with his attraction of Becca was borderline creepy. Looking past all that though the story was building up beautifully … until it just wasn’t anymore.
As soon as we learned of Becca’s past the story was slowly but surely forced into the same repetitive plot twist (which at this point can’t even be called a twist) that I’ve have read seven times before. Sure, the drama was good as always, but seriously. At this point no girl should ever want to become part of the club and no brother should ever want to claim a girl because it’s pretty much written in stone by now that if you get claimed you will be kidnapped. You will be saved too but only after torture or/and sexual assault. This has happened to EVERY old lady and yet the brothers are still not learning from it or expecting it to happen after seven times in a row.
I am sorry if this is harsh, but I cannot understand the author’s obsession with kidnap, rape and torture. Isn’t she sick of writing the same thing over and over by now? I am sure sick and tired of reading about it. It was so unnecessary to force the book into that since the storyline that already was was working. She could have used the entire book to reveal and work out their, unbeknownst to Becca, interlinked pasts. Or played some more with Lauren’s obsession of Storm. She could have had a bigger conflict between Becca, Storm and Pat. There were so many ways she could have gone that would have made way more sense, that would have been original and would have strengthened the book instead of weakening the realism in the storyline. If she had it would have helped with the depth as well since the things mentioned above wouldn’t have been solved immediately or been so rushed just so she could cram in a kidnap and the damsel in distress saving.
I will give this book three stars, but I am honestly struggling to even give it that many. What saves it from two stars is the beginning of the story and the unique premise.
This story, was amazing right from page one. It jut got better and better with each page turn. I loved how it was different from the others in the story well kinda had different characters and of course a different kind of love story. This was filled with so many different emotions on every page it made the story go by that much faster. Full of action, love, lust, fights this story really has it all. I loved the ending heck the middle wasn’t that bad either, but man when the truth really started to come out it was like waves one right after the other and man were they hard truths. Rebecca this strong willed woman who tries to be very independent has it hard keeping who she really is from those she loves and then thrown into a world you know nothing about i’m surprised her head didn’t spin off lol she was my favorite character cause no matter what happened to her she came out on top. Storm watch out when this alpha male comes at you he comes hard. lol literally!!! These 2 as a couple amaze me on every page and really had me into the story I was so into it I finished in less then 1 day. I loved it and you will to, doesn’t have to be read in order with the other books in the series.
***I received an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, I was in no way told what to write it’s all me, myself and I***
This was the first book I read in this series. They are standalones. And I am hooked! I love MC novels and this one was great. This book is about Deathstalker MC member Storm. He meets Becca when he goes to a parent teacher meeting with the Pres of his club wife while he is away. Their connection is instant. But his life is anything from normal and she has her own secrets. That is all I am going to reveal about the book. It is worth reading from start to finish. There are surprises and I found myself not able to put it down. I had to know more! And before I knew it the book was over. I find myself wanting more! Luckily there are other books I need to read in this series. It seems each book follows a different member of the club.
I really like this new to me author. She pulled me in from the start. This book got right to the point right away and I like that. Sometimes books can take a while to build up to the story. Not for this author. She has the reader jump right in. And it’s a wild ride.
I highly recommend this book. Even if you are like me and haven’t read the others, yet. Definitely a must read for MC book fans. This book has drama, humor, steamy scenes, action and will definitely pull at your heart strings. Go read it now!
