Single mom Peyton Brooks’s first Friday night out–with adults–in forever isn’t exactly going the way she’d expected. She can line dance at the local dive bar with the best of ‘em, but she can’t shake the feeling she’s completely out of her depth. Then the first man she ever loved walks in the door, bringing chaos, especially since the handsome cowboy’s the father of her daughter. This … definitely calls for whiskey…
Ryder Marks’s homecoming isn’t going how he’d planned. After years of working hard and finding success in Alaska, he’d thought returning to Fly Creek, Wyoming would feel different, more triumphant. Instead, he finds a daughter he knew nothing about, a father who still harbors anger and resentment toward him, and a former love he never forgot and who still warms his heart. Now he just has to convince Peyton he intends to stay and be the man she deserves, even if that means letting her go.

This is a touching story about second chances, family dynamics or lack thereof, life changing surprises, hope and above all love.
Ryder and Peyton were young and in love until he disappeared overnight without explanation to parts unknown. Almost a year goes by before he wrote to tell his Mom he was in Alaska and fine. Afterwards, he wrote to her on occasion, never knowing that he had left behind more than his family and Peyton.
Upon his return, he is shocked when he discovers what he left.
The struggles of the main characters was palpable. You understood their emotional turmoil, their lack of trust and hurt, as well as their hope for a future.
A heartbreaking but also heartwarming story that will make you fall in love with Peyton and Ryder.

3.5, and this one I will bump up to 4. The characters of Fly Creek are wonderful! They are as endearing as they are flawed. The Cowboy’s Homecoming Suprise is a true second chance story. Ryder left Fly Creek ten years ago and looked back every single day. But, he didn’t feel he had any other choice. His father thought he was worthless and told him so every chance he got until finally, Ryder had to leave to prove himself. Only when he left he didn’t tell anyone. He slipped away in the middle of the night. He also made sure that he wouldn’t be found. He didn’t realize that he left a part of himself behind.
Peyton has been raising Melanie on her own for the last ten years. Well, OK, maybe not alone, but certainly without Mel’s father. Mel has plenty of people who love her and Peyton has more than amazing support from her grandmother as well as Ryder’s parents. Life is good. Life is complete. Until Ryder Marks comes waltzing back into town. Now she has to face some hard decisions.
There’s drama in this one, but not really high drama. Well, at least not between Peyton and Ryder. Ryder still doesn’t have answers as to why his father hates him so much, but he’s definitely about to prove himself far from worthless. Then he realizes he has a ten-year-old daughter that he didn’t know about. He has no one to blame but himself. Can he possibly make up for lost time? Can he be the father that Melanie needs? Can he and Peyton recapture what they had all those years ago? Or can they make something even better? This is a story that you can fly through and enjoy every minute of the flight.
This was an OK book. It was an easy read. I probably wouldn’t spend the money again.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a wonderful read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story of Ryder and Peyton. Ryder left home for Alaska at 19 as he and his father had a contentious relationship. Ryder wanted to prove that he was worthy of his father’s love and his inheritance of Sky Ranch. He doesn’t tell Peyton, his girlfriend, or his mother that he is leaving. Unfortunately several days after he leaves, Peyton discovers that she is pregnant. Ryder makes it impossible to locate him in the intervening years. Coming home after 10 years, Ryder discovers that he is a father. The road to Ryder and Petyon’s HEA is full of heart-break, tears and strife.
I adored having a dual POV here. Seeing Ryder’s thoughts really helped connect me, the reader, to him. The emotions that he goes through really made the story one that kept me glued to my e-reader. I was on an emotional roller-coaster ride with this one. I truly felt one with the characters.
This is a story that I would highly recommend to anyone. Be prepared for possible tears here.
