This regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author BREE WOLF about a reasonable-to-a-fault, young lady and an adamant lord proves that love isn’t always rational…but it is always powerful.
When it comes to choosing a husband, LADY WINIFRED knows exactly how to proceed. After all, to ensure life-long happiness one must simply verify compatibility. Fortunately, there … Fortunately, there is a simple way to accomplish said task.
Step 1: Write down a list of attributes one’s perfect match should possess.
Step 2: Compare the men of one’s acquaintance to said list.
Step 3: Choose the most fitting gentleman.
Indeed, it is a simple enough plan. But then why can’t Winifred stop thinking about her brother’s childhood friend every step of the way? After all, he is utterly wrong for her. There is no good reason why she should find herself unable to forget his dark green eyes? Or that wicked smile? Or the way he always teases her? Or calls her by that insufferable name, Fred?
None at all.
Upon returning home, TRENT HENWOOD, EARL OF CHADWICK, finds out that the woman he has loved his entire life is on the brink of choosing a husband. Worse, she is considering anyone but him.
Desperate not to lose Winifred for good, Trent seeks her out, determined to challenge her idea of a perfect husband. No matter how she tries to dissuade him, he remains steadfast, urging her to see that heart always trumps mind.
For both their sakes.
But will Winifred dare listen?

Nice short read. Well written with some good dialog.
For my taste, Winifred is a bit too adamant in settling for an arranged marriage; it is as though she has blinders on. That got to be a bit tiresome.
I received an advanced copy; I voluntarily read and reviewed it.
I really enjoyed the interaction between Winifred and Trent. Winifred wouldn’t admit even to herself that she loved Trent. He had to convince her of their love before she betrothed herself to another. Good clean romance at its best.
Here we go again. This time we need to ask, Is this sensible? Can ‘sensible’ be a good reason to marry someone? Oh, how I hope not! Would ‘sensible’ make for a happy life if one is only ‘sensible’ with the other? Where would love and passion fit in? I’m glad that this couple found their happily ever after whether it was ‘sensible’ or not.
5 stars
I received a free copy of the novella Winning Her Hand book 7 of A Forbidden Love Novella Series by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Winifred and Trent’s romance is a simple and sweet romance involving a man finally having the courage to express his love after a 5 year separation and a woman who finally accepts that what she feels for her childhood friend is a strong and abiding love. Seeking the happiness her parents had, Winifred forms a pact with her brother Griffin to enter a marriage based on compatibility rather than for love. Realistic characters, some jealousy, seemly random meetings, and a cliffhanger make this an interesting and fast paced read.
I can’t help but give this book 5 stars because it is just that wonderful. Just imagine letting your brother choose your husband based on your criteria. Lady Winifred did just that. Their parents having died in a carriage accident, Winifred is left to look to only her brother for help in the matrimonial department. He knows her so well and she trusts he will do right by her. They make a pact, Griffin will chose Winifred’s husband and Winifred will, in time, choose Griffin’s wife.
However, Griffin’s best friend comes to call and Griffin tells Trent of his plans to help Winifred. Trent is upset that he is not to be chosen as the one to be Winifred’s husband, as he is in love with her and has been for many years. Trent and Griffin concoct a plan of their own to ensure Trent’s desire for Winifred’s hand in marriage comes to fruition, as Griffin knows for sure that Winifred loves Trent as well, only she won’t admit it to herself.
What will Trent and Griffin do to ensure Trent gets his heart’s desire? Will Winifred marry Trent or choose a more sensible match? This is a fun and intriguing novella by a fabulous writer. The characters are well developed and the plot is believable. I am sure you will love these people and this book as much as I do. Pick up your copy today. Enjoy!
I received a complimentary copy and am leaving my honest opinion for review. These opinions are purely my own.
Join Winifred and her brother while they serch for her perfect mate. Griffen already knows him now he just has to make her realize Trent has always been the man she loves
Delightful story with a young woman that doesn’t really know what she wants until it’s time for the big decision. A truly sweet and enjoyable story.
A charming Regency romance, clean and well written, this story touches the heart and made me smile. In the light of having lost her parents when still young, Lady Winifred feels the responsibility of making the right match – one based on compatibility and sensible analysis. She is surprised when her mischievous brother offers to assist her, but accepts his heartfelt promise to do his best for her. Years before, when her parents were still alive, before Griffin and Winifred departed on an extended trip to Europe, Trent was as much part of their family as Winifred and Griffin were, but when responsibilities drew him away, some of the connection was lost. With Griffin and Winifred’s return to England, Trent once more makes his way to their home with the full intent of pursuing his heart. The problem is persuading Winifred that a love match is far preferable to an arranged marriage. I didn’t particularly identify with Winifred’s character, but could understand her take on life. Fortunately, Griffin was not to be thwarted in ensuring his sister’s happiness and Trent has all the attributes to bring out the best in her. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A worthy 4.5 star read and highly recommend!
Lady Winifred has reached a point where she knows she must soon marry if she wants to have a family. Winifred looks for help from her brother in coming up with a list of potential suitors. She feels that love should not factor in the final decision of who to marry as the choice should be the most sensible and rational one.
Trent Henwood, Earl of Chadwick, her brother’s oldest and closest friend since childhood, has loved Winifred for years but has never revealed his feelings to her. Their personalities have always clashed so Trent feels she would never accept him as a potential suitor. But that is about to change since Winifred is intent on searching for her future husband.
Bree Wolf has created a delightful story with two lead characters whose chemistry sparks off the page. The banter between Trent and Winifred brought several smiles to my face. Highly recommend this read. Now I look forward to the list of potential brides Winifred will come up with for her brother Griffin to consider in the next book in the series.
Please note I received an ARC of this novella and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of what I read.
4.25 Stars
When it comes to choosing a husband, Lady Winifred is at a loss. The only man who constantly occupies her thoughts is her brother’s oldest friend. However, Trent Henwood, Earl of Chadwick, could not be more unsuitable at least for her. Although he may be titled, wealthy and handsome, his personality constantly clashes with hers plus he constantly teases her & calls her Fred. Trent has been in love for as long as he can remember. Equally long has he been aware of the fact that Winifred would never accept him. Settling for being her friend, Trent finds his worst nightmares realised when the woman he loves starts to look for her future husband. Winifred asks her brother Griffin to help her find a husband & in turn she will help him find his spouse.
A very enjoyable novella which I read in a sitting, the story flows well & the characters are well fleshed. Trent & Winifred are very likeable, I was willing for this friends to lovers couple to have their HEA, a straight forward engaging romance my only quibble being that I wished it had been longer. I look forward to Griffin’s story
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
For a novella, this sure packs a lot.
Winifred has decided that it’s time to get married and have a family before time runs out and she asks her brother to find her a husband, BUT, she is adamant that it cannot be a love match.
Trent, her brother’s friend, has been in love with her for ages but she also doesn’t want a fiery match which he would be.
So, how does one find someone that will be suitable for her?
Brilliant story, very clever theme and as usual it has been extremely well written and held my attention throughout.
I loved both of the main characters’ strengths and weaknesses, the way they teased each other and the clever way Trent went about getting her to notice his good points.
This is a beautiful story that has happy ending and as I enjoyed it so much, I am happy to recommend it.
I read a free advance copy of this ebook and the above is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
