The night uncovers all we wish not to see.A troubled man enters a dusky park before sunset. A young woman follows, hidden in shadow. Both have returned to the park to take back something the past has stolen from them, to make right six long years of suffering, and to find justice or perhaps redemption—or maybe they’ll settle for some old-fashioned revenge. But something evil is alive and awake in … alive and awake in those woods, creatures that care nothing for human motivations. They’re driven by their own insatiable need: a ravenous, bottomless hunger.
The campgrounds are full tonight, and the creatures are starving. Before the night is over, they will feed.
An unrelenting tale of terror from Jason Parent, acclaimed author of People of the Sun and What Hides Within.

The Great Outdoors…..camping, hiking, fishing and all the other outdoorsy things that people do. Me,,not so much. As a youth I loved camping, but as I aged my body decided it didn’t like sleeping on the ground or having to start a fire to warm your body up and make some tea.
Well…about 2 chapters into THEY FEED by Jason Parent, I have decided to to never even think about going camping at the State Park ever again.
Jason Parent has given us a truly gruesome tale of tragedy, revenge and monsters that plays out like a extended episode of The Outer Limits. This story would also make a great evolution/continuation of the classic story The Raft from Creepshow 2.
Tyler has just been released from serving a six year sentence for a murder that was committed while hunting at the State Park. But Tyler knows there is more to the story and heads back to the park for answers. Little does he know that he has been followed by someone with their own agenda. As the evening progresses, Tyler will find himself fighting for his life with a small group of others. Can the rickety shack they have all found themselves in protect them from the monsters that are hunting them?
This is a great creature story from start to finish with a cool horror movie vibe. If you are a reader like me, you picture the story playing out in your head as you read. I could see the black leach-like monsters that Jason has created, as they roll and leap after their victims. Hear the screams of the doomed and feel the adrenaline of those trying to escape. The characters that populate the story are well developed and I found myself rooting for them. (Well, except for 3 of them your will have to encounter for yourself). And the ending twist caught me totally of guard.
It takes an truly accomplished author to really transport someone into their story, and Jason Parent has done that wonderfully with THEY FEED.
OMG. Everything, the title, cover, the woods…makes me eager to begin my ‘hike’ through the pages of They Feed by Jason Parent.
I am a huge fan of Jason Parent and his ability to scare the bejesus out of me. He did not fail to do so in They Feed. I love book covers with the trees and woods on them and this cover is so eerie, I know there is some badness in them there woods.
Uh oh, Tyler”s past was waiting to catch up with him and he was ready to face it, or what he thought IT was. He was prepared….not by a long shot. LOL
In the real world, men were the only monsters.
Unless you are reading a Jason Parent story. LOL
…stabbing with their steely knives…
WOW, love that ending. Some fall, some stand tall, some love, some die…and I was shocked at some of it.
He covers the real the unreal, and the evil dredged from a twisted mind. I wonder how you come up with these ideas, Jason. I LOVE your ability to FREAK ME OUT and PISS ME OFF…and that is all I’m saying because I so not want to spoil the FUN (LOL) for everyone.
Jason you are a master storyteller.

It’s Wonderful
fun book about some horrifying critters accidently created at a national park
In the very first chapter you meet a horror comparable to those imagined by Stephen King.
These creatures are the creepiest I’ve read in quite some time! They’re “feeding” in the first pages of the book, and their horrendous appetites keep eating … and eating … and eating. People are apparently their favorite food, and the horror is sustained all through the story as they feed on the 10 people trapped in the woods. The Agatha Christie-like countdown of people consumed is heartpounding. The sustained susspense is advanced with graphic descriptions of the spooky creatures, which are able to change their shapes and mimic voices of the dead to lure the living, or break apart from one to many little creatures, or bind together to make giants. If you like creature & horror books, this book is a good choice. Just remember – they feed at night — Read with a nightlight nearby.
So people think the woods are safe to going hiking or camping out? After reading this book, I will definitely not be going camping or even think about hiking through the woods!
Tyler Kendrick just got out of prison after being in there for six years for shooting a man in Galveston Park, which he considers an accident. He decides that he will return to the scene of the crime as he wants to get everything clear in his head of what happened that tragic day.
What Tyler doesn’t know is that something stirs in the woods of Galveston Park that has been there for a long time. Something hungry, something that can best be described as black, oily, poopy patties that have the speed of a cheetah and razor sharp teeth. They love darkness as darkness is their friend and there are millions of these poop patties throughout the woods.
There are other people out in the woods camping and hiking which also come across the oily creatures. What starts out as a romp through the woods, turns into a fight for survival. Tyler and the other characters in the book eventually come together as they try to fight and survive the creatures.
Does everyone make it out alive? Are they able to fight and defeat the creatures? No spoilers here as you will have to read the book to find out!
This was a fast paced journey into the deep, dark woods of Galveston Park and I loved how the author, Jason Parent, made me feel that I was right there in the woods along with everyone fighting poopy patties! This was a fun creature feature read! Four stars for this one.
