Introducing “A Rogue for a Lady” – The First Standalone story in the Duke’s Daughter’s Series Lady Amelia – pressed by her father to marry soonLord Northfell – a handsome suitor with deep secrets in his pastCan they overcome his secrets and find love together?Amelia Seaworth, eldest daughter of the Duke of Westbrook, has always been the responsible one, always caring for her sisters and for their … always caring for her sisters and for their father since their mother passed away some years ago.
When her father confides in her that he is not altogether well and, therefore, wishes each of his daughters to marry very soon, Amelia responds with her usual gravitas, knowing she must be the first one to find herself a suitable husband.
Unfortunately, the one man Amelia finds herself drawn to, while dashingly handsome, is also arrogant and distant with a seemingly less than perfect reputation. However, no matter how hard she tries, she simply cannot stop her growing affections for Lord Northfell, even though he constantly confuses her. And somehow she cannot help the feeling that he is keeping something from her.
Love grows yet whispered secrets threaten to separate them. A scheming cousin, blackmail and family responsibilities push Amelia into a spiral of confusion and a sense of betrayal. When all is finally revealed, she must decide what to do with the man who holds her heart – and choose whether love can forget the sins and mistakes of the past.
Will Arthur and Amelia overcome their initial differences and reach out to help each other? Or will their similarly-proud natures lead them to ruin? A story of conflict, courage and passion set in the ultra-sophisticated and unpredictable world of Regency London.
“A Rogue for a Lady” is a work of historical romance fiction. It is the first book of a series of standalone romances set in Regency era London involving the Duke of Westbrook’s daughters. Every book is a guaranteed HEA and there are no cliffhangers.

I love a classic Regency novel and A Rogue for a Lady did not disappoint. It is a classic Regency tale that is beautifully written. It was a pleasure to read and the story never dragged. It’s one of those novels you hate to see end but fortunately Amelia’s sisters have their own tales.

A TRUE REGENCY ROMANCE!!!
I was swept up into the story from the very first page. When twists and turns abound, and with so much confusion, you’re not sure which way is up. You feel helpless for the love that grows as strongly as lies and intrigue. Secrets are exposed and bonds are stretched. A tale that keeps you captive as the story unfolds. Fantastic job Lady Rose.

Can a leopard change his spots? I must say
I don’t believe Amelia deserved the ending she got. She was quite foolish in her assumptions when time after time she had been proved wrong. That said, I did enjoy these characters and the storyline and look forward to seeing the rest of the girls find marriage.
clean
I was torn between the decision of rating this novel either three or four stars. On one hand, this novel had the makings of being a wonderful story with an excellent follow through; however, it was dragged out past it’s exparation which in turn stopped it from being the best that it could be. If this novel could have been shortened into a novella, keeping the best points and removing the extra fluff, then this could have been one of the best novels I have read in a while.
Enjoyable read.
Loved it.
Nice, but expected more
Not terribly exciting Regency. An OK read
Romantic read with lots of feel goods. Characters stay true to form. HEA with a fun yet well developed plot. Good sweet read.
Amelia Seaworth, eldest daughter of the Duke of Westbrook,
finds herself having to marry first. Her father finds himself
ailing in health so announces his daughters must find
husbands and we’d. Amelia only interest is in Arthur Ridlington,
Earl of Northfell, but he has a iffy past. What should she do??
The story flows from beginning to end with drama, betrayal,
blackmail, kidnapping and secrets. The characters are well
fleshed out, well defined, interesting and intriguing. This
historical romance set in the Regency era was filled with
the courtship rules that were applied in London during
that period.
A recommended, enjoyable read.

A close family of four sisters with a loving but unwell father; an ultimatum for the girls to marry, in order of birth, and the strong willed eldest daughter who had decided to never marry, but knew she had to to ease her father’s mind and allow her sisters to marry…….a great story. Put in a villainous family member, and a clever reparte and this was a great and fun book to read!!

How can a Lord marry well, having a daughter born on the wrong side of the blanket? This is the dilemma facing Lord Northfell as he drops his roguish ways and looks for a wife and mother for his daughter, Eloise.
Amelia is the oldest of 4 daughters of marriageable age, of an aging Duke who wishes to see his daughters settled before he dies. They meet at a ball, and are drawn to each other. However, Amelia senses something is off between them, raising her suspicions about Lord Northfell’s character. Misunderstandings, and outright lies by a cousin extorting money from Lord Northfell, leads Amelia into an agreement with a cousin she does not like, let alone love.
What does it take to erase Amelia’s concerns about Lord Northfell, break her agreement with her cousin, end the extortion over Eloise, and allow Amelia and Lord Northfell to further explore their feelings for each other with the questions and mysteries resolved? The answers are found in this clean and delightful Regency Era novel, that readers of all ages will enjoy.
I was given this book by BookSprouts. The opinions are my own.
This book is the first in The Duke’s Daughters series. The Duke of Westbrook has four daughters. Due to his perceived health condition, he decided all four daughters needed to find husbands and marry soon.
Amelia, the oldest, will be the first one to marry. This is the story of Lady Amelia and Lord Northfell.
Rose Pearson has created wonderful characters for this book and the entire series. The plot in A Rogue for a Lady has several twists and turns that keep you reading to see what happens next and how it all works out.
This is truly a delightful Regency read Pearson has given us all the feels – family, a love story, intrigue, a villain, balls, house parties, and a HEA.
I recommend this book to all the romance readers.
I received a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Just finished Rogue for a Lady and really enjoyed it. A Duke in poor health has 4 daughters he wants to see married before his health fails. All this makes for an interesting read. This is book 1 in the series and I can’t wait for the next one.
Ms. Pearson writes the most intriguing stories of this romantic genre. This one is no exception. The Daughter, Amelia, forced to marry for family obligations loves the rogue, but is he really the rogue portrayed? The slimy cousin wants her money and position, but who will prevail? You’ll have to read it to find out! Grab your coffee and settle down to a wonderful story!
