Patrick and Kinsey have been apart for 10 years. When she returns home Patrick is married and a father. When fate brings Kinsey back he knows this is his chance to make things right. They’ve known each other since they were 3. They were married in his backyard at 6. Highschool sweethearts that fell in love. He is not giving her up this time. One Night is all he needs to remind her. One Night is all he needs to prove his love. One Night is all he needs to show her their future. One Night is all you need to fall head over heels in love with patrickinney! Kelsey Kingsley, writer extraordinaire, brings a beautifully sweet second chance love story to life!
Kinsey met Patrick on their front lawn when his family moved to her small coastal Connecticut town from Ireland at the ripe age of three. They grew up as neighbors and best friends, eventually dating and experiencing all their firsts together. Their future and fate seemed practically determined for them until 10 years ago when Kinsey went off to college and mistakenly decided she needed more than what Patrick could offer her. He tried to move on, he even got married, to the wrong girl of course, and had a daughter, but Kinsey never could move on because there’s no such thing as being able to get over “patrickinney”.
In the two long years since her return, Patrick (our uniformed hero with a sexy Irish accent) has pined over Kinsey (our beautifully stubborn heroine). On the day his divorce is finalized, he finally convinces her to give him a second chance; he says he needs just one night to win her back and she decides to let him try. Even with as much as has changed and all they’ve put each other through in the last 12 years, the thing that hasn’t and never will change is how much Kinsey and Patrick love each other.
It only took one night (maybe less) for Kinsey McKenna to let Patrick back into her life and heart and one night is how long it took me to read One Night to Fall and to completely fall for Kelsey’s writing! This was my first KK book (yes, I’m kicking myself in the arse for how long it took me to get to it) and I know it’s just the first of many! I don’t know how she managed to cram so many of our favorite romance tropes and fantastic flashbacks into one book, but she did it beautifully and with a fekin’ awesome soundtrack to boot! I can’t wait to read more Kelsey Kingsley and to fall further for the Kinney’s and the rest of River Canyon!
Patrick and Kinsey met when they were three and were best friends. As they grew the relationship progress to dating and being in love. But things happen and they haven’t seen each other in ten years. Patrick is trying to get Kinsey back but she wants no part of him. Can he win her back ? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended. Amazing Book
RATING 4.5 STARS
One Night to Fall is book one in the Kinney Brothers series by Kelsey Kingsley. This is my very first book by Kelsey. It was beautifully told and I couldn’t help but to fall in love with these characters.
Patrick Kinney and Kinsey McKenna met and fell in love when they were just three years old when Patrick’s family moved next door to Kinsey in River Canyon, Connecticut. They moved from Ireland and had the most beautiful way of speaking. Over the next seventeen years, as they grew from children to adults, their love grew with them.
“We never had a choice, we never stood a chance. Our fates were determined the moment I stepped over the invisible line between his front lawn and mine.”
There is no handbook for love. Mistakes were made. And Patrick and Kinsey fell apart. They were separated for ten long years. But when Kinsey comes back to River Canyon, Patrick knows that this is his chance. That he will get her back. Because Kinsey has always been his. He just needed to convince her of this.
“We’re taught that love is a serious thing, but that’s where the teaching seems to stop. When we find it, we’re left to handle it on our own.”
Now is his chance. Patrick has one night to convince Kinsey that they are destined for each other. One night to remind her of what they had and to give them another chance. One night to make her fall in love with him again.
This is told from both POV’s. We go back and forth between the present and the past as we learn their story. As I write this, I am getting butterflies thinking about Patrick. I loved him so much. This really was such a unique and beautiful story. And we get not one but two fabulous epilogues! The other two books in the series are on Patrick’s younger twin brothers and I can’t wait to read their stories.
“It only took one night. One night to stop fighting, one night to ditch my stubborn ways. One night to hold on and never let go.”

One Night to Fall was the first book in the Kinney Brothers series by Kelsey Kingsley. It was also my first book by the author.
I love second chance romances and this was indeed a second chance. Patrick and Kinsey met when they were three. From the prologue, we knew the hero, Patrick, was married with a child and that the heroine, Kinsey, moved away and wasn’t speaking to him but came back to town when her father had a heart attack. Fast forward two years and the hero’s divorce was final and he obviously wanted Kinsey. Kingsley then took us through the present and past simultaneously.
It was a sweet and funny romance. I fell in love with Patrick and was pulling for him. It had some sad parts, but in the end came full circle.
This book follows childhood next door neighbor sweethearts Kinsey and Patrick, who practically fell in love with each other at first sight. Originally, they’re presented as two people with a backstory, obviously having had a falling out, but with no real context. Somewhere around halfway in, without my realizing it, the author had wrapped my feelings around her little finger. I don’t know what happened, but at some point between their flashbacks (prompted by Patrick’s attempts to win Kinsey back), I fell in love with their past and present. I rooted for them. I cared.
I can usually feel myself “falling” for characters or a storyline, maybe even pinpoint a tipping point moment or two. That strangely didn’t happen here, but that doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the story and writing style. I liked learning about these two. I was entertained by their interactions. I recommend this book for fans of the second chance and small town tropes. It was short but satisfying read that warmed my heart on a cold December night.
Have you ever just stumbled upon a book and been amazed when you finished reading at how good it was? A book so good that you want to call everyone that you know and tell them to read it now?! That’s how I feel about One Night to Fall. This is a second chance romance that any reader that loves romance needs to read. I had never read a book by Kelsey Kingsley before but am I glad that someone mentioned her name to me. This story has it all, childhood sweethearts Patrick and Kinsey are the heart of this story. He’s a police officer in this small Connecticut town and Kinsey is back working in her father’s delicatessen. Their lives took a wrong turn a decade ago sending Kinsey away and now that she has returned Patrick is determined to start on the path that their lives should have always been on. It’s a sweet, heartwarming PG-13 romance that will really make you believe in true love. It is told in dual POV and gives you snippets of the past in each chapter that will explain how these two ended up not being together for a decade. I hate when reviewers give too much of a story away and this is where I am going to end my review but highly recommend that you run to read One Night to Fall.
One Night to Fall by Kelsey Kingsley is a heartfelt, slow burn, second chance romance that is told by moving back and forth between the present story and significant moments from the past. I read this book in one sitting, unable to put it down once I started. The story captivated me and completely captured my heart!
Kinsey McKenna and Patrick Kinney met at three years old when the Kinneys moved next door. They were inseparable, growing up together as best friends, becoming more than friends, falling in love, experiencing all of their firsts together. At 20-years-old, some mistakes were made, shattering their relationship and splitting them apart.
Patrick and Kinsey have not spoken or seen each other since their break up. After being away for ten years, Kinsey moves back home due to a family emergency. It is now two years later and Patrick’s divorce is finalized. He never stopped loving Kinsey and he wants her back, but Kinsey continues to reject his advances. Finally, she agrees to go out with him one night with the understanding that he’ll stop pursuing her.
Is one night long enough to make her remember? Is it long enough to fall in love?
“We never had a choice, we never stood a chance. Our fates were determined the moment I stepped over the invisible line between his front lawn and mine.”
A beautifully written, humorous, heartbreaking, sweet, touching tale about soul mates finding their way back to each other.
I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read the next book in the series! The story had me from beginning to end and I could not pull myself away from reading it. It was a perfect soulmates, happy ending, second chance story. I wish it was still going on.
One Night for a Second Chance Love
I’ve always loved second chance love stories. I mean, why not?! Isn’t that what life’s all about? Another chance to right a wrong? To redeem ourselves from the mistakes of our past? Even if we had only ONE night to make the most of that second chance we’ve been waiting a decade of our lives for? To get back the one person we’ve loved our whole lives, the only one we will ever love?
That’s what this little novella is all about. One Night to Fall is one of the most emotional and beautifully written second chance stories I’ve read. I felt so conflicted as I was torn between anger and sadness for the both Kinsey and Patrick. Kinsey, not being sure of herself or her future, did something that she regretted. Patrick, reeling from Kinsey’s abrupt decision, did something that was too costly for him to take back. This altered the course of their lives, ultimately interfering with what seemed like their destiny since they were kids.
Going down memory lane with Patrick and Kinsey just about ripped my little heart apart. I hated what they put themselves through. I wanted to hate Kinsey. I wanted to hold her. I wanted to hate Patrick. I wanted to hug him. In the end, I just couldn’t bring myself to be angry with either of them any more. I cried, hoping they would make their way back to each other, and cried harder when they did. LOL! Ms. Kingsley played my heart like a fiddle by letting me inside both Patrick’s and Kinsey’s head. . . and heart.
