“I was just a chapter in his book, one that was never meant to be re-read.”Maverick Night is bad news. He made me want things I knew I shouldn’t but did.Now my brother’s best friend is back, but we are both different people. Time changed us.I crave the way my heart beat when he used to look at me, how it felt to be in his arms. Nothing good will come from opening myself up to him.I just hope my … opening myself up to him.
I just hope my tattered heart can take it if he walks away again.
TORN and TATTERED are companion novellas to the Heart’s Compass series. You do NOT need to read the Heart’s Compass books in order to enjoy the Tattered Heart duet, however it is highly recommended that you read Torn first.

Another 5 stars for Brooke O’Brien!
Tattered was just as great as Torn! Steamy & witty! For a quick read it certainly didn’t disappoint. So much happens in so little time it keeps you on edge through out the book.
Ryan and Maverick’s story picks up 4 years later and the tension is still just as thick.
They have a connection unlike most others. It’s deep and screams desire.
With Maverick coming back to town where does that leave him and Ryan? Only way to know is to read this book!
This is the second book in the series and a quick read. It a great conclusion to the story. This picks up 4 years later and things are different than they used to be, they have demons to battle. I love Maverick and watching the two of them grow and change.
You need to read “Torn” before you read “Tattered”.
The first book “Torn” left my heart torn in 2 pieces and crying my eyes out but as soon as I started reading “Tattered” my heart started to heal again.
I love the plot of these 2 books and the way they fall into each other. It’s like reading the same book just with a pause in between, that leaves you craving more of the authors words!!
These characters have been through alot and have changed a lot over the years but the one thing that didn’t change is the way Maverick and Ryan feel about each other after all this time!!!
I love this author and what she puts to paper. This is the story of Mav and Ryan, in love since they were teens but separated by choices. I love second chance romances especially when they have characters you want to just help hug it out. Great story and characters. I always want her books to be longer cos I love her style but they are always just long enough to make you want more.
“My heart feels like it’s beating again for the first time since I last saw Maverick, and it’s terrifying”
Tattered picks up where Torn ended. And if I compare those two books, Tattered has more meat on the bone. Hence a full 4 star rating.
“She’s always been able to give me peace when my thoughts get to be too loud.”
Four years later and Ryan and Maverick still can’t deny their attraction. Both marked by life – one more than the other – their first encounter is like they have never been apart.
“No time, no distance, could erase the way I felt about him.”
Tattered is a great conclusion to this lovely duet. It shows that if you are meant for each other, there is always a way. You only need to be brave enough to open up and let the other in. It’s scary to give someone the power to break you, but you’d miss out otherwise. Sometimes fate honors bravery.
“I can live anywhere in this world because as long as I’m with you, I’m home.”
One small point of critique: The chemistry seems to focus mostly on their body attraction. I wish I could have felt a little more of their soul connection – which clearly is there – as well.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Overall a good duet. When his father dies, Maverick gets leave from his tour early to arrange the funeral. He finds Ryan following her dreams. She puts on blinders to the coming pain just to be with him again.
Fantastic duet that left me wishing they were longer because I wanted so much more. I’d love to see what happened in the four years Ryan and Maverick were apart as I’m left with questions. These two books are emotional and hot quick reads that give you a great taste of what this author can deliver
