This was my first book from Hanleigh that I’ve read. I really enjoyed this story!
Aurora and Landon meet at a bar one night when she decides to throw the list of rules out the window.
Landon is so by his rules, he doesn’t know if he can go against his rules he have set for himself.
Aurora comes from a wealthy, sheltered background, and then she meets Landon.
Can she let him help her break all of her rules?
Can he let her break some of his rules too?
I really really enjoyed their story as it was that instant attraction that I love in books.
I loved the flow of the story, and how it all went, and also the PLOT TWIST!!! Didn’t that coming at all!!!
*it does end on a little bit of a cliffhanger*
Some of my fave quotes:
1. I don’t want to give her up. Not tonight. Not tomorrow. Not ever. – Landon knows how bad he has it!
2. She messed with my control, and I can’t bring myself to try and take it back again. – He also knows that he’s lost control of his list of rules.
Broken Rules is a well-written, engaging debut novel, and my first read by Hanleigh Bradley. I have to say from what I’ve seen here, this talented author has set the bar high for future books. Landon and Aurora are great characters, and the storyline is a mix of fun romp and intense attraction.
I really like that the romance isn’t instalove. Instant attraction, yes, and the chemistry is off the charts, but I don’t get the instalove vibe here. What I do get is the potential for the kind of love we’d all be lucky to have. If you’ve ever met someone who you just felt comfortable around, comfortable enough to tell them your secrets and let them really see you, then you’ll understand this couple.
The title is perfect because that’s what this one is all about, breaking the rules. Both have them for different reasons – his, self-imposed for his idea of freedom, and hers, set by her parents to keep her as perfect as possible. And once this pair sets about breaking those rules, they do it in spectacular fashion.
On the surface, Broken Rules is a billionaire romance without the Cinderella angle, and we get all the heat and whirlwind start of a relationship that you’d expect from the trope. Landon is the typical billionaire playboy until he meets the one that he can’t get enough of. Aurora is innocent and itching to break the chains set by her parents. When you look at it that way, it’s nothing we haven’t seen, but on a deeper level, there’s just something compelling about this couple. Whether it’s the writing or great characters or both, once I started reading this one, I was hooked.
This is the first in a series, and while it doesn’t leave us with a cliffy, it is open-ended, and I’m anxious to get into the next book to see where this romance goes.
Loved Broken Rules. It is the first book in The Rules Series and does end on a cliffhanger that will continue in book two, Enforced Rules.
She’s always been Perfect – The perfect daughter, perfect student, perfect friend – just all around perfect. Growing up with a never ending list of rules that she was determined not to break. But now Rory has decided it’s time to live her life for herself, not her parents, and she will start by breaking every rule her parents had ever given her. When she meets Landon he seems like the perfect place to start, little does she know he lives by his own set of rules.
A one night stand turns into more when he promises to help her break all of her rules but he hadn’t expected that he would break all of his own rules in the process.
Rory and Landon Set our on a journey of rebellion and losing control has never been so fun and frightening all at the same time. I can’t wait to continue their story in the next installment of this series.
Highly recommended!
I received an ARC of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.
***spoiler alert***
Aurora is a proper good girl in college. She follows the rules set by her parents, but there is a small part of her that wants to break the rules. To do and think for herself.
Landon, is a young man who follows rules too. Only his are much less restrictive than Aurora’s. These two meet and they have chemistry between them. Landon decides he will help Aurora break her rules.
Some family drama from both sides occurs and Landon and Aurora continue their acquaintance. Some steamy scenes.
Nice story, I wish it didn’t end where it did as it felt choppy. (I don’t mind when a story needs to continue as long as the ending is smoother) Several supporting characters that could do with a storyline as well. First book I’ve read recently where I didn’t dislike the female lead.
Looking forward to book 2 (which is out now)
Are rules meant to be broken?
If you are looking for a story filled with secrets, hot sexy scenes, funny conversations and based in London. This is the book for you!
Aurora “Rory” has been given a set of rules to live by all of her life. Rules which she has never broken. She goes out one night and meets Landon. Landon is a CEO of his father’s company. He has his own set of rules he lives by.
The chemistry, the emotions and the passion between these two have you on the edge of your seat. It is immediate and believable. All the twists and turns, as with any family secrets are revealed. Soon, they both learn all is not what it seems.
Will they break the rules they have always lived by?
The author grabs you from the first page. You are sucked in and cannot put this book down, then you are left wanting more.
I love this book. I can’t wait to start the next one. I recommend Broken Rules for everyone.
Enjoy!!
This was a thrilling intriguing read about Landon and Aurora. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this wonderful sexy love story. Loved their interaction and banter. Sometimes breaking rules is how you meet your one. Love the start to this new series and I can’t wait to read more
Aurora is the perfect child, following every rule her parents set, yet she’s sick of it. She meets Landon at a bar when they go out to celebrate Tallulah’s return from University. There’s an instant attraction to Landon that makes her want to throw caution to the wind. Landon set rules for himself about the women he takes home, and with Aurora, he can’t seem to follow his own rules. In the story, you find out secrets such as Aurora’s sister, and Landon’s brother aren’t what they appear to be. This is a great read. Definitely looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
This book was so good! The author did a great job bringing the characters to life. I highly recommend this book. I give this book five stars.
Sometimes rules can save you, your life, your sanity. But sometimes rules restrict you from really being yourself. And sometimes rules that you set for yourself stop to be significant. Be a rebel, broken the rules, find yourself. It was very steamy read, with interesting plot and heavy secrets. With well-designed characters we didn’t get bored but we are left craving more, and maybe broken some of our own rules.
Landon and Aurora grabbed my heart
Intense emotional broken beautiful love story
Ready for more
Rules can be broken,right?
But you can do your own rules.
What a wonderful start to the series.
Who will make rules, who will break them.
Aurora and Landon, beautiful characters and I’m planning to find out the rest.
Hanleigh write beautiful, heart touching stories. Thank you!
So I read this out of order since I started with the second book and read the other books before coming back to this one. It was pretty good, though Landon’s rules that are being broken are kinda silly. At least Aurora wanting to break her parents’ rules makes sense. However, I really enjoyed reading this.

This was my introductory book to this author, and it was the title of the book that instantly caught my attention. Broken Rules is an intriguing story with an intricate plot that will wind you up in the private life of the social elite. Expect the unexpected and be properly prepared to be intrigued. Specific things are not always as they seem. Well-kept secrets are revealed, rules are broken but they typically come with potential consequences. I cannot wait to see how the rest of this unfolds. I would definitely recommend the book.
I thought that this was a complete book but it turns out it is a part. Yes its worth reading and it sucks you in but I found the way it ended very disappointing. Love the characters and really really want to know the rest of their story but it will have to wait. I also found the repeating of conversations from both perspectives a bit annoying. It could have had a continuation from each person’s perspective instead of the same scene from both. As I said it is worth the read though.
An enjoyable well written feel good start of a series ending on a cliffhanger. The story is engrossing, swoon worthy, and includes humor, passion, chemistry and angst with likeable characters. Landon has rules he has set for no one to get attached until he meets Aurora. She is from a wealthy strict family and always follows the rules until Landon. Rule number one to start the spiral is never sleep with someone out of wedlock. They enjoy breaking rules until family secrets reveal, its not as perfect as pictured. A gripping enjoyable start.
