These Royals will ruin you. Ever since Hartley Wright met Easton Royal, her life hasn’t been the same. There are enemies behind every corner and dangers beyond each door. When tragedy strikes and steals her memories, she can’t trust anyone, not even the blue-eyed boy who promises her that everything will be all right.Because while Hartley’s memory is full of gaps, her instincts tell her Easton … instincts tell her Easton is dangerous. She doesn’t know if he’s the snake in the garden or her chance at salvation. The chaos he brings wherever he goes is too much to handle, the intense feelings he evokes are too confusing to unravel.
Easton wants her to remember. Hartley thinks it’s better to forget.
She might be right.
Tragedy. Treachery. Trust. Hartley has to face the facts—in this world, you can’t escape the Royals. Either you live by their rules or you die by them.

Disappointing.

This book is definitely better than the Fallen Hair (if you read my review you know that I wasn’t very impressed). I could actually stand Easton in this book. I still found it weird that he acted like Hartley was his girlfriend before the accident when in reality they were barely friends. In fact, she told him she never wants to talk to him again. But it was sweet of him to be there for her and to reassure her that everything will be alright when things were falling apart. I much prefer this Easton than the Easton we met in Fallen Heir. This Easton finally got clean and started to think before he acted. I also connected with Hartley better in comparison to the previous book. And that ending! *Swoon* It was absolutely perfect.
Let me just add that I am so happy that Lauren is out of the picture and hopefully the author will decide to give Sebastian and Sawyer their own happy ending with a girl that is worthy of them.
This review MAY contain spoilers.
My god, this series is fracking brilliant! This series sunk its fangs into me and inducted me into its coven in moments. I was glued to the pages since the first book and the final book did not let me down. I am not usually the type of reader that goes for these kinds of books and I loved them! I ate them up! So that is saying something. Usually, teenage drama and contemporary drama are not my cup of tea. I am definitely going to have to rethink my aversion to contemporary books. If they are all as amazing as this series then I’ve been missing out.
The world-building is still as strong as ever in this book of the series. The world-building really builds upon previous books. It really sets the stage and makes the reader feel immersed in the story. There are lots of details that make the books very atmospheric.
Oh my god, this plot! The suspense in this book was killing me! It was so addicting. So many shocking things happen or are revealed in this book. I could not have been happier with the outcome. I loved the overall arc of the story even though the characters had their own arcs within the story. The storytelling is fluid and very well done. I was quite impressed.
The character development for the two main characters is incredible! I love that it isn’t stagnant at all. Easton and Hartley really grow on their journey together. They are totally different people at the end of this book than the people that we meet in earlier books. Their personal journeys throughout the series were emotional and wrought with conflict. Their struggles really shape them and change them. It was quite beautiful.
The romance in this book of the series was full of opposition. There are so many factors that are working against Easton and Hartley in this book. They have to overcome their separate problems while trying to rebuild their relationship after something serious happens in the book to bring them back to the beginning. I was rooting for them the whole time! The chemistry between these two is magical.
Overall, I can’t praise this book series enough! I am experiencing severe book hangover right now. I have been making a playlist for the series on Spotify and writing fan-fiction in my head. I just wish that there was more. I definitely recommend this series. There are some serious issues presented in this series though, so I would recommend it to mature readers. If sensitive issues are triggers for you then this series might be one that you should skip. If you give this series a try then you will quickly become addicted! Erin Watt is definitely on my radar now.
READ AND REVIEWED MARCH 2018
The Royals are back, and the anticipation has never been this wild!
The story picks up from when Hartley, Easton, the twins Sebastian & Sawyer and their girlfriend, Lauren had been in an accident. Sebastian fell into a coma and Hartley lost almost all of her memories from three years prior. The twins blamed Hartley for the accident while Easton blamed himself. Now all he wanted was for Seb to wake up and Hartley to regain her memories.
But Hartley thought it was better if she could forget everything that had hurt her and everything that brought misery in her life.
If only all these were possible and easy.
My heart is swelling with pride and joy and so much love for Ella, Hartley and the Royals, and the women behind this masterpiece series, Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick, collectively known as Erin Watt. I’ve cried and laughed, guessed and screamed and spent endless sleepless nights with the Royals and I didn’t regret any of the eyebags and round circles that came with it. All of me refuse to acknowledge the fact that Cracked Kingdom is going to be the final and last book in the Royals series. I just can’t..
Easton Royal is definitely the man of the hour. Even from the first book, Paper Princess, I knew Easton would come a long way. I loved him for who he was and who he is when he’s with the ones he love. I’ve always secretly looked forward to more Easton scenes during Reed and Ella’s journey to forever . And now that his final book I’d here, I can’t help but feel sad and morose. Easton took a very big part of me ad Hartley Wright is sure darn lucky to have him. Easton is arguably the best of the Royal brothers, despite his unabashedly womanizing ways.
I won’t go into further details on how this story goes, but just so you know, it made me love the Royals even more, including the twins! Oh how I really wish they’d be able to have their own happily ever after too!!
Kudos, hugs and kisses to Erin Watt for an unforgettable story about love, family, commitment, and acceptance. If there’s one thing I learned in the whole Royal series, it’s that family doesn’t mean you need to be blood related. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. Blood isn’t always thicker than water, but being loyal is what makes you family.
This Royal family, however, has just ruined me.
So sad to see the end of a series that reeled me in so completely.
I wish we had gotten to see more of the twins, I would have loved for them to have their own book, or even each of them their own book, though I do like the small teaser at the end of this one as to what might be in their future.
As for the rest of the characters, I feel like they had a well wrapped up ending. I especially like the way the authors took Dylan’s part of the story.
There was a lot of process in this particular story, but I found it enthralling. I think fans of this type of contemporary romance are going to love and devour this series the way I did.
I have anxiously awaited this series finale since I read Fallen Heir last summer. Fallen Heir ended as a cliffhanger. I reread it to prepare for Cracked Kingdom and I had forgotten how abruptly it all ended. All this insane information occurred within the last two pages! TWO PAGES!
And so yeah, I’ve been wanting to read Cracked Kingdom for a while.
It sucked me in and I read it in a single setting. And to be honest, it contained one of my major pet peeves. I would consider it a testament to the authors’ skills that I was able to move past it and continue to enjoy the story unfolding. No spoilers from me, just a warning that this is a rush and a half. It was a doozy of an ending. I’m kinda sad that this era is over. I’ll just have to wait and see what else Erin Watt will come up with! I can be patient…right?
This book would have to be one of the books that i was most anticipated and it certainly didn’t disappoint, i would rather wait longer for a book and get a book that i love and the authors are proud of instead of rushing and I’m so glad we got this book it was perfect loved everything about it.
This story was a continuation of Easton and Hartley and this couple were so sweet and one of my all time favourite couples. They were both so lost and i felt they needed each other and they had to go through all the obstacles to be who they want to be and to be together.
This book started from the spot the first book finished and i loved that, we had the car accident and who knew who was going to survive and what would happen.
I don’t want to give to much away as this is a series and book that you need to go into blind as there are so many secrets, suspense, love and i just love the whole plot twist that you know that’s going to end the book and see how it all ends.
As i said i don’t want to say too much but if you love YA/NA then this is the series for you. Everyone needs to read this series, couldn’t recommend these books any more they are one of my favourite books and series ever.
Loved loved loved massive well deserved 5 stars
*4 Stars*
It took me a while to get around to reading this one, but after the ending of Fallen Heir, I had to find out what happened, and to who.
Easton’s second book was a bit more enjoyable than his first, but it still isn’t one of my faves of the series. I like Hartley, I really like her, and I think her chapters were probably a bit more enjoyable than Easts.
I feel like Easton still has a lot of growing up to do, but he did manage to man up in some parts of this book.
The ending ramped up and there were a few revelations and intense moments, and I think it rounded out quite nicely.
I would like to read about the twins next, so I’m hoping they get their own book/s.
Well, that was one hell of a ride. It was packed full of all the drama, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The series was buttoned up pretty well I think. What a family. I hope one day we’ll get a twin book. Now that one would be totally interesting.
I was so excited for this book because Fallen heir, the previous book was my favorite book in the series and especially after that explosive ending I just couldn’t wait to get my hand on it. That’s why I’m sad to say that this book was probably the most disappointed in the whole series.
After the soaring success of Fallen heir this story was a crash and burn for me from the very first chapter. There just wasn’t anything that appealed to me in it at all. The only reason it got a rating as it is because the writing is still exceptional, the author duo can write, it’s easy to read, engaging and quick.
I loved Hartley and Easton, their character development and their relationship in the previous book. However in this book it was not great. Their relationship was kinda nonexistence here thanks to the annoying and predictable development we get in the first couple of chapters. What more, everything I loved about Easton and everything he was even with the softer edges he gained in the previous book just simply disappeared. Like POOF, here went his awesome personality. I understood some of the changes because he got into a really heavy situation but for the most part he just because depressed and washed out. However what annoyed me more was how the rest of his family treated him and his feeling for Hartley, like he is selfish for loving someone. That just pissed me off.
I’m not going to spoil the biggest “not”-so- surprise in the book but let’s just say it was bad and made the storyline really clishé.
So if I look at the book as Hartley and Easton story it was really mild and ragging. The stupidity of Hartley in this book didn’t know bounds even with her condition, use some common sense please. However if I look at the book as the final one in the whole series then I’m even more disappointed. What the hell, people, it was nowhere near a satisfying ending. Moreover, where is the twins’ story?? I was looking forward to their story the most and they got a flimsy side thread in a Easton focused book and a lot of interesting hints about their side of the event without a proper elaboration. That was just not okay, not at all. So yes, I’m disappointed as hell in this story.
I enjoyed the second installment of Easton’s story a lot more than the first. The first book started a bit slow for me, but I felt like I was running by the end of it. Thankfully I didn’t read these until Cracked Kingdom had been released… I would have gone nuts from the cliffhanger of Fallen Heir otherwise. Since Cracked Kingdom picks up where Fallen Heir left off, I was instantly engrossed.
Where I was disappointed, and why this one got a 4 from me, was with the end. At one point, when looking for my place on another device, I realized there where only 4 chapter left, and I was like yikes, that’s a lot to wrap up still. So, for me, the end felt a bit ruched. After all of the build up around Hartley’s father, I was ready to see some serious suffering. I feel like he, and Ella’s father, got off way too easy.
NOOOOO! I don’t want it to be over! The Royals have ruined me for all other YA series! I NEED them. I need MORE! I am addicted to everything Royal! This series has been amazing! From Reed and Ella to Easton and Hartley… with a little bit of Gideon and Savannah in between… I just can’t get enough! I have DEVOURED this series. I have been CONSUMED by this family of fierce characters. The storyline has been phenomenal with all the drama a girl can want. Love, betrayal, murder, lust, deceit… only a few words to describe this EXTRAORDINARY tale. It can’t be over, it just can’t! Gah! The twins! I can’t live without their stories! Erin Watt…. please, please, please don’t leave us like this. You have created something so big, so profound. I need a TV series or a movie. Yes! I need it! You need it! We ALL need it! Long live the Royals!
As you can see by my above crazy girl rant, I freaking LOVED this book, this series! If you are caught up and have read Fallen Heir, just wait. Cracked Kingdom is going to rock your world! If you haven’t read this series, *gasp* you MUST READ it today! 1-click now. These Royals will ruin you!
