Welcome to Sarah’s Eatery, where the food is to-die-for!Escaping a dreadful marriage and an angry ex-husband, Kylie Berry moves to the small town of Camden Falls, Kentucky, to run her cousin’s café, Sarah’s Eatery. Only one problem: Kylie can’t cook to save her life, and the longtime chef walks out on Kylie’s first day. “Winters will have you giggling into your book!”Answering the call for a new … giggling into your book!”
Answering the call for a new chef, in walks lovely Rachel Summers, a friendly local brownie-addict who immediately gets the job. But when Rachel is found dead a few hours later, all fingers point to Kylie and her killer brownies.
Could Kylie have made a major kitchen blunder and poisoned the woman? Did a bitter former employee tamper with her pantry? Or was there more to Rachel than the kind smile and eager-to-please attitude she sported at the interview?
With the help of the few remaining café regulars, Kylie sets out on a journey to uncover the truth behind who killed Rachel Summers!
This is a laugh-out-loud cozy mystery featuring a strong female protagonist, some unusual friends and family, and a mystery that needs solving! It has no graphic gore, bad language or sex.

Clever Characters make for a relaxingly pleasant read. Will look for the next book.
I thouroughly enjoyed this book. Excellent
Fun mystery
I simply enjoyed it! No, it’s not terribly realistic – Kylie, our heroine, went from living with mom and dad at eighteen to being married with a prenup to being divorced eleven years later with a family of exes who destroy her life and reputation. She’s living in a homeless shelter when her cousin, Sarah, contacts her for help running her cafe. Kylie steals her ex’s car (with no repercussions, regardless of everything else they’ve done to destroy her) and makes it to the cafe just in time to discover Sarah’s leaving her everything – cafe, block of businesses and apartments, etc with no payment down and none due for three years, all this with about an hour of intro. Now Kylie, who can’t cook a lick (and hasn’t the sense to follow a recipe, kind of wings it instead), in a town where ex-in-laws are spreading the news that her cooking kills – and then it looks like it literally does… In the midst of all this, she makes a go of the cafe, making friends and solving the murder. Yeah, it’s not realistic, but it is my definition of a cozy – good people, good intentions, it makes you want to keep reading because it makes you feel good inside, it helps you believe that there are good people who will stand up against the mean ones, it shows you folks who are moving on in spite of mistakes, who are dealing with their own problems, but will still take time out for yours. No sex, no foul language. There were other reviewers who said a good proof-reader was needed, I’d say she’s gotten one, I only ran across a handful of mistakes. I’m going to read more!
This book caught me off guard. Who on earth comes up with a plot of a cafe owner who can’t cook. Pretty inventive. Characters are unique but not so off the charts they are unbelievable. Enjoyed this, but if you are looking for something deep this is not it, it’s an easy enjoyable read!
Solid 4.5 star
I just love cozy mysteries and I was not disappointed with A Berry Deadly Welcome, Kylie Berry is at rock bottom as in she has no job, recently divorced by her pig of a husband, not a penny to her name and all she now owns fits inside suit case. Due to also having no internet nor phone Kylie doesn’t realise her Cousin Sarah is not only going to let her stay at her apartment but also sell her the whole bakery, woohoo things are looking up until her Crazy Aunt in law turns up (yup the exes family live here) and next thing someone is dead and all fingers point to her. I just loved how Kylie manages to get her self in suck a pickle with things but also has some new good friends to help her out. There are plenty of laughs, surprises and a good wee twist to keep you entertained and wanting book 2.
