Allison Moore is faced with a daunting question: How do you stand up for yourself when it means losing everything? Allison Moore is making it. Barely. The Seattle area architecture firm she started with her best friend is struggling, but at least they’re free from the games played by the corporate world. She’s gotten over her divorce. And while her dad’s recent passing is tough, their … relationship had never been easy.
Then the bomb drops. Her dad had a secret life and left her mom in massive debt.
As Allison scrambles to help her mom find a way out, she’s given a journal, anonymously, during a visit to her favorite coffee shop. As the pressure to rescue her mom mounts, Allison pours her fears and heartache into the journal.
But then the unexplainable happens. The words in the journal, her words, begin to disappear. And new ones fill the empty spaces–words that force her to look at everything she knows about herself in a new light.
Ignoring those words could cost her everything . . . but so could embracing them.

I found this to be a very thought provoking read and made me look at what Christ has placed inside of me at salvation. Although the book doesn’t come out and specifically say this, I sensed from what the mother said that her children knew Christ and needed to remember and find strength through Him. We are always fighting spiritual warfare and need to find that warrior within to fight instead of being a doormat for the religious and unsaved. I found this to be about relationship not religion. These are just my opinions and what I take from this book. It gave me insight into the battles I face within. I found this to be a soul journey and loved the characters and that it was unpredictable. If you are looking for a book with depth and that will leave you looking inside yourself then look no farther. I loved this and look forward to reading more by an author that is becoming one of my go to reads.

James Rubart’s books never fail to pull me immediately into the story that is different from any other. His books encourage the reader to view the world through different eyes, seeing the spiritual warfare that occurs around our seemingly normal lives.
In his newest novel, The Pages of Her Life, Rubart gives us a story of intense soul-searching. As she is facing a rather hopeless situation that seems insurmountable, Allison receives a rather unusual journal. As she writes of her insecurities and struggles, the journal pours new light on her life by forcing Allison to look inwardly. I enjoyed her and her brother’s separate journeys of self-discovery, filled with profound soul-searching. Rubart’s books remind the reader that God is present and performing miracles today, if we just look for them.
I enjoyed the cameo appearances of characters from one of Rubart’s earlier books, that had introduced me to his unique ‘voice’ in fiction. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

James L. Rubart’s intriguing and thought-provoking novel was much different from anything I have read before. I have heard many people recommend his books, so I decided to read The Pages of her Life. My favorite genre is contemporary romance, so this book definitely took me out of my comfort zone. I am very glad I had the opportunity to read this novel. James L. Rubart eloquently tells the story of how a mystery journal helps serve as a tool for self-discovery and allows each owner to discover their inner strength and their own self-worth. He also expertly weaves the spiritual content throughout the book in a way that allows the reader to reflect on their own thoughts and beliefs. I would recommend this book!
