Are you ready for Zeus ‘The God’ Kincaid?
I’m so in love with this story and the characters. I’ve adored Samantha Towle as both an author and a person for quite some time now, her books are also sexy and addictive, but with an emotive aspect too and that’s exactly what I want out of a book. I want them to make me feel. So yes, you could definitely say I’ve gotten quite high expectations with her novels, but Ruin completely blew me away.
You get the competitive, determined, alpha male character that is iconic with Sports romance, with the angsty, emotional journey of a second chance romance, and I was captivated from the first page. Some books, the exceptional ones, really grip you from the start and never let you go and this was Ruin for me.
Zeus Kincaid redefines Book boyfriend status, he’s this sexy, strong, alpha male but he’s also incredible loyal, selfless, kind, and he loves so wholly and passionately that I got emotional on multiple occasions. Seeing his interactions with his daughter, Gigi, getting to know her and love her… There truly aren’t words for the feels you get battered with there! I feel all vulnerable and sensitive still today, the day after reading, my heart, soul and mind still held captive by the story. And the way Zeus fights for his Dove, how he proves to her that she can trust him again and that he will never hurt her again, that he never stopped loving her, that he will never stop showing her how much she means to him? Swoon. My heart. Swoon. I can’t even. Did I mention how much I swooned?
Cam, aka Dove, is exactly what you want from a heroine. She’s genuine, honest, and occasional yes she’s vulnerable, her doubts and fears take charge, but we all have those moments. I love that she had imperfections, it makes her seem more real and relatable and just human, no one is perfect and everyone has self doubts and fears. Seeing Cam overcome these, and take that leap of faith, was humbling and beautiful.
I know she’s a fictional character but I was so blown away by her, she’s kind but she has this inner strength that as gotten her through everything, and the selfless mother she is? Wow. On the one hand, seeing her get to a point where she realises that yes her daughter should be the centre of her world, but she doesn’t need to be her whole world, her happiness matters too. But the fact that her daughter is always her priority, that no matter what she does she’s always considering her daughter’s feelings and ensuring she won’t get hurt by anything, was so heartfelt, like a tribute to all those amazing mums out there. And with Samantha Towle being a mother, I think she really channelled those experiences into Cam and it’s what made Cam such a developed and loveable character. She’s an inspirational character, the kind of heroine we love to read about and that really carves out a unique place in our little bookworm hearts.
I love how developed the background characters are, especially the Kincaid siblings because even though they aren’t featured that much in the book, we feel like we know them, like we’re part of their family. I cannot wait for the next instalment!
4.5 stars!!!
I have a new #BookBoyfriend!! Zeus Kincaid. Man, did he bring me to my knees. Samantha Towle delivered a fantastic second chance romance and I devoured it. The chemistry between Zeus and Cameron was off the charts and the writing was top notch. A bucket of angst, a lot of hotness, and a bunch of secrets that unfold as you read, and that epilogue!
I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!!!
