The perfect timing of a fairy tale is tied to its tragedy… about the amusement he took in manipulating Meadow’s sister.
Their interview is a battle of wills.
His story is a twisted web of coercion and lies.
And the tragedy is too perfect to be real.
Will Meadow discover all of Vincent’s secrets while she fights to protect her own?

OMG Lily White is a freaking genius! This book had me hooked right from the very first page. Vincent is a Manipulation God, he cast a spell on me and is still holding me captive. There were some twists that blew my mind…in a good way 😉
How would you feel if you had the opportunity to interview the man who is on death row for killing your sister and a few others? Would you feel compassion for such a person? Would you even do the interview? I honestly don”t know what I would do but Meadow needs to sit down with Vincent and hear his side of the story and I will admit that at one point I had tears flowing uncontrollably down my face and had to put the book down to regroup.
This is going to be a rather short review because I do not want to give anything away, that being said I will leave you with one more nugget of advice…..be prepared for Vincent to manipulate his way into your heart.
If you enjoy dark reads I highly recommend this book, and if you haven’t read a Lily White book before be prepared because you are in for a treat!
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book**
Oh my gosh!!! Lily White slays me! She absolutely SLAYS me!!! She hooked me from the first word and continued to pull me into a dark, dangerous and twisty world, chewing me up and then spitting me out where I didn’t know what the heck I had just lived through. This book freaking twisted me in every direction making me constantly try to peek around corners to see what was going to happen next and never giving me what I was expecting but slamming me with more twists until I’m now left in a soggy mess of tears.
I can’t even express what an incredible read this is! Don’t read summary reviews! Go into this totally blind. Yes, you may think at times you know what’s going to happen but there is no certainty for it will be just supposition. Each portion gives a little then takes it away until your gasping to just get to the last page to learn how this all ends.
This is not a perfect little fairy tale with all its traipsing’s. This is hard edged and cruel. It’s a story of unconscionable actions that lead to pain and anger and death. You will find yourself not wanting to blink in case you miss a moment, a word, a touch. When you turn the final page, you’ll be yearning to go back to page one to begin the tale all over again.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Meadow is a journalist who gets to interview the guy who is on death row for murdering her sister and a few others. Definitely psychological thriller genre and Lily White does these crazy well. As in you never know the full extent of craziness until the end. If you like a twisty ride, you’ll love this standalone.
“I closed my eyes and realized that I was becoming addicted to the savage beast of a man who had trusted me enough to call me his friend.”
Meadow Graham has just three days to interview death row inmate Vincent Mercier; a powerful and charismatic man responsible for the gruesome death of her sister. Meadow is determined to discover the truth at any cost. “You should know by now that I am a man that keeps his promises.” “Quid pro quo, Vincent?” “Yes, Meadow, quid pro quo.” Back and forth the spider and the fly banter, but some questions are best left unanswered, and some truths are better left unknown. As tragic as this story begins, the ending is even so much more. As the pages were turning, I found myself rooting for the monster at the end of this book…
Lily White is a new to me author, and I was absolutely blown away by this story! BLOWN AWAY! This story captivated me from page one! Highly recommend!
5 Quid Pro Quo Stars!!!
I don’t know how Lily White does it but she does. This book has now moved The Director by Lily White out of first place for my favorite books by this author. Like I’ve said before… with Lily White books, you have to read them word for word. Take in the meaning of each and every word typed. You will thank me in the end!
You don’t know fear until you’ve traipsed through darkness. You don’t know desolation until you’ve been tossed to the wolves.
You don’t know pain until you’re shown just how disposable you are…
Meadow Graham has waited for this day to come! Finally granted an exclusive interview with Vincent Mercier. The man who brutally murdered her sister and 3 others.
Will 72 hours alone with Vincent Mercier bring the closure that Meadow is hoping for? Or will Vincent manipulate Meadow just like he did her sister and the others?
I totally pictured during this interview, Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs… Vincent gave me the chills yet was a total turn on at the same time. While Meadow was the head strong, tough as heck back bone journalist who blushes at comments that Vincent makes…
I absolutely loved reading both sides to the story. As I felt like we got even more to this great story by hearing how each felt at the time.
What I didn’t expect in this story was the way it chained me to my couch… As I could not stop reading this one. As the story unfolded right in front of us, the layers peeling back, the emotions that were revealed…I could not stop reading.
What blindsided me was the letter. Insert box of Kleenex here… The tears were flowing…
What would a person do for the ones they love? Besides sheltering the Monster in the basement allowing only certain people to enter…would you give it all up in the name of Love?
If you love books that get your mind thinking…understanding that things are not always black and white. In the society that we live in, there has got to be grey too. This is a page turning romantic suspense book that was done perfectly!!!

One of my favorite things about reading a Lily White book is that you are never quite sure what to expect. She is the master of dark, psychological, mind-blowing, stories that are full of twists and characters you probably shouldn’t be a fan of, but fall in love with. I was really excited when Wishing Well landed on my kindle and couldn’t wait to see what emotional and mental upheaval Lily White would put me through.
Meadow Graham is a journalist who has landed the kind of assignment careers are made of – she gets to interview Vincent Mercier the three days before he is set to be executed. This isn’t just any story for Meadow, though. It’s personal. One of the four people Vincent is convicted of killing is her twin sister and she is hoping this will give her the closure she so desperately needs. As we become a fly on the wall during this three day interview, we discover that she has secrets she is keeping and as deceptions and truths are revealed it becomes clear nothing is as it initial seems.
In true Lily White fashion, as I read Wishing Well, I could not put it down and I was left reeling as one twist after another is revealed. This is the kind of book you need to go into not knowing much about. You want to enjoy the insanity as it unfolds. I am never quite sure how she manages it, but Lily White is a master at giving us characters we should detest who we slowly fall in love with. Vincent is a perfect example of that. Just like Meadow, as he begins to tell his tale you’re horrified, but there is an edge of uncomfortable attraction along with it that settles into your stomach. I was pretty blown away by the twists in this one and the ending, woah, I did NOT see that coming! Wishing Well is highly recommended by me. Lily White continues to be one of my most favorite authors and I cannot wait to see what crazy insanity she brings us next.
