Loved it.
Gods and Goddess’ was this a fabulous read
This is my first time reading this author and definitely will not be my last
Legends of Lust is a collection of sensually erotic shorts that truly captivate and entertain the reader – A carnal journey that takes a closer looker at some of the greatest love stories in mythology – a little bit of embellishment and imagination was used during creation – but you never know it could have happened that way
I found myself endeared to the characters almost upon entering their stories – I could not choose a favorite among them
This is a perfect “nightstand” collection as each short read is independent and therefore can be read as a standalone
I really enjoyed reading the fourteen steamy tales of myths in this book. Every story is a tale of steamy seduction. You can’t go wrong reading the tales in this collection. A must for short story erotica lovers.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
I always found mythology a source or endless imagination and provocation.
This collection of short stores takes some characters from these ancient myths and breathes life into their lustful memories. Not only do these characters reflect their status in past times and places, but the elegant language portrays the customs, objects and clothes necessary to picture them as both human beings and larger-than-life-people.
The stories are short enough to delight the imagination for a little whithout constricting our busy schedule. There are plenty to choose from. Odysseus sets his cunning and dominance free on his beautiful captor and gets his freedom in pleasurable ways too. A conquest of lust and love between a hero and a warrior Amazon queen. An Indian sage who finds Nirvana in the arms of a divine nymph.
This treasure trove of 14 retellings of myths morphs into sensual tapestries of passion, exotic cultures and otherworldly creatures. I enjoyed all of them because each story is beautifully composed, the characters are artfully drawn and every couple retains their uniqueness and sensual spark. Often in these tales powerful women succumb in fortunate ways to the enthralling masculinity of their lovers. They also celebrate female empowerment like in The Kingdom of Women.
The Queen of Winter’s story is particularly delightful and humorous with an old woman’s wisdom. The ballad of Tamlin is also quite fun. I found one of the stories to be bold and clever when it revived the famous meeting of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon. One of my favourite is the Armedian folktale which reminds me of a fairytale touched by mischief. Really surprising.
This bundle wraps up with a tale of exotic and wild sensuality which is the perfect brooch for a chain of bright imaginings. I enjoyed myself very much 😉
The fourteen steamy stories in “Legends of Lust” turn existing classics of world mythology into pulse-quickening tales of erotic adventure.
For example, Wikipedia will tell you that Zeus ordered the nymph Calypso to release the imprisoned Odysseus, which she reluctantly does. Yawn. “Legends of Lust” spices up those dry plot points, sensually exploring an alternate version where Odysseus bargains with goddess: if she’ll help him build a boat sturdy enough for him to make his escape, he’ll give her the greatest orgasm she’s ever had. What follows is a sexy slow-burn of teasing and anticipation, drawn out to a, shall we say, explosive conclusion.
From the “Epic of Gilgamesh” to the “Ballad of Tam Lin,” each story in the collection uncovers a sexual escapade hiding between the cracks of the existing tales, kind of like an erotic “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.” And with each story averaging twenty pages, it’s easy to breeze through one in a single sitting, perfect for that dismal train commute or whenever you need a sexy little pick-me-up.
3 Cranky Stars
I was looking forward to reading this book. The Teaser sounded intriguing. However, I can only give it 3 stars out of 5. This is an anthology of 14 different stories ranging from Greek/Roman myths to European, Japanese and Chinese folk tales. The author starts out strong with the first myth and cleverly turns it into an erotic tale. The second story wasn’t too bad either. But by the time I got to 5, I was bored. Each story was the same in its erotic content.
I pushed through till I got to story number 11 and then I started to skim read. If the author really wants to improve this book, I recommend she take just a couple of the myths and expand on them. Find some different words to use to describe the sex acts in each story. Using the same phrases over and over becomes redundant. I did like that she explained the background information on each myth/legend. There will probably be some readers who disagree with me and love this book. I hope for the author’s sake they find this book.
I’ve always loved myths from all over the world so I was excited to get a chance to read these. I loved the first and second story the most. I favorited these since I was more familiar with but enjoyed a few others. I would liked them to have been a little longer but it left me wanting more which is the goal. It was interesting to read some from other cultures, a few of them were a bit out of my comfort zone but I did give them a chance. I’d give it four stars. – By Tiffany
Autumn Bardot takes you on an engaging must read of sexy , spicy mythology in a powerful collection of short stories. The erotic passions of the ancient world follow every spell bound page and you will not want to put this book down until you are at the end. But then you will look for more!
I loved this book! Each story was unique, well written, and umm…. more sultry then the last. I really liked the short story format – and really enjoyed all the different kinds of gods and mythical creatures – who knew I could be so into Gilgamesh?
I had the good fortune of reading an advanced copy of Autumn Bardot’s debut novel and I was not disappointed. It is a collection of 14 erotic myths from around the world. Ms. Bardot was able to weave sexy and erotic takes to well known myths, like the tale of Gilgamesh and the temple prostitute, Shamhat, to the Norse tale of Brunhild and the death of Sigurd that would make Richard Wagner proud, if not a little embarrassed…since this erotica. To the Amazonian Queen Hippolyta and her ever growing need to escape with her new found lust inducing lover, King Theseus. There are even erotic myths from cultures that are not normally read about, like the Ecuadorian myth of the lustful and erotically charged “Encantado” who can masterfully seduce his/her pray and have their pray wanting for more. Unlike other erotic fiction novels, Ms. Bardot also has the skill to weave historical facts and authenticity to her writing which is quite refreshing. Along with the steamiest encounters throughout mythology, the reader is treated to a readable and relatable tour through our common human history. These 14 stories well have your loins pulsating and your brain working that will not disappoint. I look forward to Autumn’s continued excursions and incursions into the world of Erotica.
