The Vampyrs of Shayde want more than just my blood… need to survive one more night. I need to make it through the ultimate trial. The tournament of warriors. The Night of the Shayde.
But the Vampyrs want me for their own.
…And everyone knows that whatever Vampyrs want, Vampyrs get.
Night of the Shayde is a stand-alone reverse harem romance. Adult situations. Snarky heroine who likes to swear from time to time. 18+. more
This book blew me away–Star Wars meets Hunger Games meets A Shade of Vampire. Excellent world building and the heroine is so cool. Action + reverse harem sexy times = WIN
This is a different vamp reverse harem book for me.
Raven is a human that lives in a vampire-run society. She has not had an easy life but keeps to herself and her head down. But when she runs into a rogue vamp that decides she is his last hope. What Raven doesn’t realize is that he left behind something in her that could be dangerous to every vampire in the world.
Saber, Nero, and Zeke are sent out to find the woman that has been bitten by a rogue vampire. It is their punishment for their last assignment going bad. When they get to the planet, they find a lot of things going wrong for humans. These guys might be vamps, but they also believe in treating humans with decency. When they meet Raven and find out that she is the one that has been bitten, they find they have to protect her with everything they have.
Raven is not a fan of the vamps due to her past, so when she finds she will have to work with Saber, Nero, and Zeke to keep herself alive, she doesn’t take too well to it. But the chemistry between everyone is automatic and hot. The story is interesting, keeps you guessing, and sexy.
It does end on a cliff hanger, but the second one is out now.
The Shayde are a race of vampyr that entered into a mutually beneficial agreement with the humans whose blood saved their race from extinction. Many years have passed and in most cases humans are treated as nothing more than slaves. Raven Unnuk lives on the mining planet of Boarus 4, her parents were murdered by the Shayde when she was a child and she was sent to a re-education camp, now she works in the mines. When Raven is bitten by a Shayde while on her may home her life will be forever changed. Saber, Zeke, and Nero are Shayde enforcers sent to Boarus 4 to find the young woman bitten by the vampyr their boss calls a traitor.
These characters are unique, exciting and sexy, and yet they will fall in love while trying to find out the truth about the Shayde that bit Raven. I think this is a must read with an action packed plot with some suspense. Fantastic, I loved this book.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
The general concept of the story is very interesting. For one, it’s not just solely scifi nor solely paranormal. The human survivors (since Earth has deteriorated long ago) are on an alien planet system-Courus-wherein vampire-like creatures reside predominantly. The background story to that has been briefly outlined. Before, humans and shaydes are mutually dependent on one another. However, now on Raven’s generation, humans have become slaves to most shaydes. That and losing her parents to the shaydes, she clings to the prejudice against the said species.
On top of her circumstances, she becomes a target and has to flee to Starra-the capital of the Shayde Empire. To be able to do that, she has to participate a challenge of sorts-the Night of the Shayde-similar to the hunger games scenario. Enter three Shaydes deciding to sponsor the heroine in this game. And unbeknownst to her, these three shaydes are going to shatter her negative presumptions against the shaydes.
As the title suggests, the highlight of the plot is the Night of the Shayde. The Shaydes will sponsor a human to get through the challenge/s. And though I haven’t read the THG series, I find this thing interesting. It is where & when the main characters, mostly the heroine, develop in the story.
I love how Raven went from lying low due to a supposedly negative association to her parents to the winner of the Night of the Shayde and becomes a beacon of hope to the human slaves in the planet. She’s strong but not in an impulsive way. And even though she’s just 24, she experienced a lot of hardships already so she’s careful in her decisions and quick-witted under pressure.
I love the equally interesting heroes although I’d like to learn more about Nero and Zeke. Hopefully, on the upcoming books in the series?
Although I love the buildup, the only thing this read lacks is a glossary. There are certain terminologies I’d like to determine. Though, yes, some of them are discernible from the context.

Great plot andcharacters, nice twist. I want to read more set in this world.
Zander has created an intriguing world – it was Sci Fi, but also kind of felt dystopian, paranormal RH. Raven was awesome and I loved how she helped others even though she was crapped on a lot in her life. I liked her attitude and snark. The ending left a lot of questions open, and the stated the story was meant to be a stand alone, but hinted that there might be more. As a stand alone, I would give it a 3, because there were too many questions left, which were identified by Raven herself at the end. However, if this was the start to a series I would give it a 4.
Book #1, The Alien Vampires of Shayde. What more could you want than sexy vampyrs, alien planets, and a completely enthralling mystery?
The Aertos galaxy…heaven or hell? Depends on who you are, where you live. Raven Unnuk lives in Sector 23 of Boarus 4, an 0 positive human, the least of the least. Her parents were executed as traitors to the Shayde Empire. Imprisoned in the reeducation camps for a decade, surviving the Ice Deserts of Glacis, a miner for boarium, she’s wary, isolated, and friendless. But as desperate as her existence is, can it get worse? One night while crossing forbidding territory, she’s confronted and bitten by a very unique vampyr, and her life will never be the same! Saber, Zeke, and Nero are Shayde, vampyr enforcers for the Empress and the Shayde council, living on Starra, the capital of the Empire. Harek Levitan sends them to Boarus 4 to find the human the rogue vampyr bit. They may despise their commander, but this is nothing more than a routine mission, right? Little do they know their world’s about to be turned upside down. The rogue vampyr’s bite has cursed Raven, making her presence readily apparent to any Shayde who gets close to her. To survive, she has to escape to Starra. There’s only one way…the tournament. But to participate, she needs a Shayde sponsor. How? Her secret will be out if any Shayde gets close enough to scent her. It’s a dilemma she can’t solve, but she has to try. When Saber, Zeke, and Nero are forced to attend the tournament, Saber makes a fateful decision, pulling him, Zeke, and Nero into the middle of events that may just end them all. As the tournament progress, they find circles within circles, plots within plots. Nothing is clear. Who can they trust? Where are the enemies? With uncertainties surrounding them, only one thing is clear. To survive, the Shayde and humans will have to go back to the very roots of their history, learn to trust each other all over again. But is that even possible? Can centuries of warped history and enslavement be overcome? If not, the Shayde and their human slaves are equally doomed!
To say I was all in from the moment I started reading this story would be a massive understatement. Vampyrs, enslaved humans, plots within plots, betrayal, twists and turns, and total unpredictability all leave you unprepared for what comes next. Lili Zander is a mistress of the unexpected! I absolutely loved this story! Raven’s literally a force of nature, surviving the unimaginable. She’s tough, determined, and unstoppable. Saber’s dominant to his very core. Zeke’s affable, calm, but a real charmer. Nero’s the hothead of the group. It’s hard enough to imagine the enforcers as a team. When you add Raven to the mix, it seems like a perfect recipe for disaster. But as the connection between Raven, Saber, Zeke, and Nero goes from hatred to wariness to grudging respect and beyond, you’re pulled into the ever present danger from every direction. While these four are the heart of the story, Jarl Levitan and Overlord Zimmer, with their plots and schemes, the Empress and her half-brother, Ragnar, whose purposes and agendas are complete mysteries, Joanna, her brother, and the other humans on Boarus 4 and Starra, are the glue holding story the story together. Without the supporting characters, the storyline would be flat and meaningless. The complexity of the book is incredible. Ms. Zander has woven the threads of each individual’s personality and the surrounding events into a captivating plot that will hold you captive to the very end. This doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but I guarantee you’ll want more. If you love sci-fi, magic, vampires, and erotic romance, you can’t ask for more. Congratulations, Ms. Zander! This book is outstanding, and I can’t give it less than five stars!
One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the authors. They work very hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to the book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the authors an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
Absolutely loved this story, couldn’t put it down! I really hope the author does a second books as I need those questions answered!
