If you want to see a gal’s fangs, just threaten her family. For Claire, life is good. She’s single-mommin’-it like a boss, she can finally wield magic without setting things on fire, and she’s found a way to feed that doesn’t involve venipuncture– though there’s still a fair amount of poking involved. But the past can be a real witch, and there’s no telling when it’ll come back to curse you, or … come back to curse you, or how badly it’s gonna sting. And sting it does. While helping Clive, the Vamp-POTUS, with the conclave at his D.C compound, Claire’s life implodes all over the dang place and she finds herself jetting to Italy, desperate to save everyone she loves. Even that’s a long shot, but there’s no way she can save ‘em all.
The time has come for Claire to nut up, or shut up.

I couldn’t put this book down! Books 1&2 come together beautifully in this book. Several of the main characters are back and in for a wild ride. Claire embraces her Vampire/Witch abilities and uses them in unexpected ways. She is becoming an awesome force to be reckoned with. Can Claire maintain a semblance of normality for her daughter? Is her daughter normal? Will she follow the bloodline of magic? This time around Claire has several lovers. Serious steamy sex scenes. Plenty of kick but action. Laugh out loud moments and maybe a sacrifice! Come and read for yourself, book 4 here I come!
I am totally hooked on this series. It kinda reminds me of Anita Blake (I love those books) but I am enjoying this series more I think it’d the characters or that she is a vampire that’s a mom. All I know is I love this and want more
The characters in this series have awesome chemistry together. Claire is an adventurous woman. She is a sassy and powerful witch and a vampire. More secrets and history are reviewed in this book. She realizes that the powers she possesses were given to her by a witch. Leaving Claire to figure out who she should sacrifice to pay off the debt.
Welcome back Claire, Morgan, Quinn, and Clive! Claire is back and she kicks things off perfectly in this book. Still dealing with her liquid diet issues, Claire is out on the hunt. But she’s found herself the perfect target. Apparently, things have progressed a lot between Claire and Clive since he is keeping closer tabs on her now, and giving her credit for something he did in the last book.Claire is struggling with all the problems that she finds herself facing, and sadly ends up missing out on something really important until it’s too late. Claire’s ex-husband is still the lame loser he was, and apparently, he just keeps getting worse! One would not think that possible, but trust me…he does. I’m so thrilled that Bette makes an appearance, but not until much later. There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes and when it all comes together…things get epic!
Something Taken by Alex Owens is book three in the Shadow Vampire series and I loved this book! Now! I’m not saying that this book was better than book 2. For me, it’s a tie. Book two is fast-paced, engaging and thrilling from start to finish. Book three has slower moments, but then kicks into gear when it needs most. There is more variety of character in this book, which helps keep it moving and interesting. The side stories are truly engaging as well! Though I will say that I wish we could have read how it actually played out as it happened, I’m glad the author gives us something concerning it. I love that the author throws in a few surprises with this book.
The only real complaints I have about this book is that I wanted more! Okay! I wanted more explanations at certain points. I think that it would have made this story even better than it already is. There are a few minor spelling errors, but nothing to the point that it will distract or detract from the story. Can I say that I now absolutely loathe Claire’s ex-husband? I mean I’ve done nothing but despise him since book one, but he really sinks to an all new level of despising for me. LOL!
If you enjoyed the first two books in this series, grab this book up and dive in! It’s not as smooth flowing all the way through as book two was for me, but it’s worth reading. I enjoyed this book so much especially the second half where things get kicked into gear. Be forewarned! There are some SERIOUSLY steamy scenes in this book! Moreso than in book two for sure! So prepare yourself and enjoy! I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars! I am eagerly anticipating book four! It cannot get here soon enough! Trust me!
I have so much fun reading this series! Something Taken, book three, did not disappoint. The author gives you a little bit of everything, from action to family life, from LOL scenes to steamy scenes. I find the vampire-witch aspect different and interesting. I love that the MC is a single mom, it adds another layer to the story. The MC also makes me laugh out loud (leading to my husband giving me some serious side-eye). I love the characters and the story.
Claire has come a long way. Only to realize that she was given all the powers she now possesses. The witch responsible wants a debt to be paid. Can Claire figure out who to sacrifice to pay the debt off?
Fantastic. Clare is one awesome vamp. These books keep getting better. They keep you engaged and don’t get boring. The charactersare fantastic. The story is well written. I can’t wait for the next book.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Wow, this series just keeps getting better. Claire has so much going on and a pre-teen to deal with as well. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
