Kieran is a carpenter who is restoring the cabins in Ellery Mountain. He is sweet, loving and caring. And he is the last of the three friends who is not in a relationship. However, this is going to change soon.
Jason is an actor who is in pain because of his brother death. He thinks he died because of him. He decides to take a break and go to spend a couple of weeks to the mountains.
I like the meetings on Fridays where we can see the other couples from the previous two books in the series. And I like how they are always ready to help and defend any of the members of their “family”.
I can’t wait to read the next books.
Enjoyable, sweet story, but I really liked Kieran more and felt like he worked harder toward the relationship. The story seemed more about Jason and working through his issues. Kieran’s life seemed to be downplayed and not given equal time. I’m not sure the arrangement they worked out in the end would really work, but maybe in magical Ellery anything is possible. This isn’t my favorite in the series, but still an enjoyable read.

I found the story line weak. I don’t see make these two men to become a couple.
I can’t/image that Kieran or anyone in a relationship “hours I can manage to be”. I don’t buy Kieran “pining” at home waiting for Jason. Kieran wants what the other couples have, how does he change being “third wheel” when he has absent partner?
The story is all about Jason. Only bits and pieces of who Kieran is. Why does he only do the furniture on the side? What is wishes, history?
Kieran comes across mousy. He is bowing to everything to Jason wants. Not an equal in this relationship. Made a lot about Jason “art”/acting. Nothing about Kieran artistry in his wood work.
In the beginning Kieran summed when Jason refers to him the “handyman”. “He was perving on the guy sent to fix his step.”
Lot of Briticism in USA/Tennessee story plot and American characters.
To me it was a happy for now ending, not HEA.

Ruthie –
This is the third in the series – and the original Friday night gang are all moving towards their happy ever afters. I am really enjoying the job theme, as sadly we so often become bound by what we do, rather than who we would like to be. The opportunity to combine two different careers and make it work is much harder in this instance, but thankfully Ms. Scott manages to pull it off.
Kieran has been an important foil in previous books, so it was good that he got his turn at love, even if he found it very difficult to believe that Jason was really looking at him that way. Actually, Jason is capable of appreciating male beauty in all its forms, and the rest of the gang don’t necessarily understand his appreciation is visual rather than emotional!
We get a little fun sideline in romance too – involving Daniel’s mum and Kieran’s dad, which is fun too! And the rehab centre is taking form, and no doubt opening up further opportunities for romance.
Looking forward to the next one already.

This is steamy, interesting and romantic. Jason, a sweet, sympathetic and lost man who is suffering the guilt of feeling responsible for his brother’s death. He’s at the resort in Ellery to get away from his public life while he tries to deal with the anniversary of his brother’s death. Kieran is a timid, naive and caring man who is the handyman for the resort. They see a lot of each other in the first couple of days of Jason’s stay, mostly it’s Jason staring at Kieran’s butt while he’s bent over doing various things. As they get to know each other, they find that not only is there an intense reaction between them, but they really like each other. When Jason decides that he wants to give in to his attraction, Kieran is all for it, even if it is only for a couple of weeks. But they end up falling in love, which presents a real, agonizing dilemma, can they, and should they, try to make a relationship work when Jason’s life in L.A. is too dramatic for Kieran, and Jason isn’t willing to give it up to live in the middle of nowhere. These two are well suited to each other, their personalities compliment the other. I enjoyed reading this story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
These are shorter – but easy, sexy reads. Instalove like the last one, but a unique couple. Happy Kieran found his HEA with Jason.
I loved this MM romance set in a mountain resort. Jason is an actor running from the media after his brother’s tragic death. Keiran is a carpenter and meets Jason. The sex is hot, but can it ever become more? Liked the ending.
Jason comes to the town of Ellery to get away from the paparazzi who are hounding him about the one year anniversary of his brother’s death. Kieran lives in Ellery and is a carpenter and work part time at the Ellery Mountain Resort where Jason is staying. The sparks fly between them but Jason is only staying for three weeks. I really enjoyed this book.
I love this series and this one is my favorite so far. I have loved Kieran since book 1 and was so happy to see him get his HEA ending. Jason is so perfect for him, and I loved watching their journey.
Written in 3rd person as a multi pov with a HFN ending….But I know this is really an HEA. These two sexy boys are perfect for each other.
Awesome story line that I had a hard time putting down. I can not say enough bout the characters….fell in love with them and can not wait to see more of them in the next book. Fantastic descriptions to the details and engaging dialogue.
All in all, a fantastic read.

Sometimes, your soul doesn’t need to be left alone. Jason, hiding out in the cabins from papparazzi after his brother’s death.Jason is still grieving and feeling guilty a year after his brother’s death. Kieran, dominant but loving, kind and fun wants Jason begging. Kieran doesn’t let Jason wallow and pulls him out of himself. Can Kieran get Jason to commit? Is Jason ready to accept his brother’s death and move forward. This is a story of discovery and patience. Nicely done. The men of Eller providing an amazing support environment so everyone can live up to their emotional potential. Nicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
Jason McInnery, a popular LA television actor, lost his brother who had still been in his 20’s, and the paparazzi have come after him like sharks, trying to capture every moment of his pain. He ends up in the Ellery Mountains to get away from everyone for a short time where he can relax and be alone.
Kieran Dexter is a carpenter and friends with couples Finn and Max, and Daniel and Luke. He’s working on the tourist cabins at Ellery Mountain Resort since no one was expected to be there out-of-season. His early morning hammering and banging woke a grumpy Jason. But each of them is attracted to the other and decide on a no-strings hook up for the two weeks Jason will be there.
Kieran knows he wants something more than just a fling. He wants a soul mate like his friends have found. His strength and caring is put to the test when Jason is impacted by the anniversary of his brother’s death, suffering pangs of “survivor’s guilt”, and needs someone to pull him out and keep him going. Knowing Kieran is there for him and more than able to take on and share his burden pulls their relationship closer. What will the separation when Jason returns to LA do to their relationship? Can they find a way to still let it flourish and become the HEA they need?
This is the second story in this series that I have read, and I really like the way the characters are introduced. The friends genuinely like each other, are blatantly honest, and the reader gets the feeling that any one of them would do anything at all to help their friends. That alone can put the reader in a happy setting! The story line is realistic and the reader will experience all that the characters go through – it’s not just a reciting of words. Grab your copy and enjoy seeing decent people finally finding what they need to be whole.
Love in Ellery Mountain
2.5 stars
The Carpenter and the Actor by R.J. Scott is a MM , age gap , blue collar romance set in the resort town of Ellery Mountains.
An okay , instant lust short story.
Did not particularly like Jason one of the heroes , in my opinion Keiran , the other hero, deserves better. I did not see real chemistry and love between them for a real HEA.

Book three in the Ellery Mountain series brings Jason and Kieran’s story. They are two opposites who make a perfect match. They have a hot chemistry together and what starts as a two week affair turns into so much more. I loved their characters and reading their story as well as catching up with the rest of the guys on Ellery Mountain. The author brings drama and tons of emotion in this insta attraction – love romance. It moves quickly and smoothly ,is well written and had me hooked from beginning to end.

The author has written another poignant, grab-you-by-the-feels, charming, engaging, and delightfully unexpected story. I really enjoyed reading this.

This was another great addition to the Ellery Mountain series. Jason and Kieran were likable, engaging characters and I enjoyed seeing them come together. All in all a quick enjoyable read.

This is the third book in the Ellery series. Once again, the characters are well developed throughout the story, and the story is well written. This is a very sweet hurt/comfort romance with a hint of kink thrown in for good measure.
Keiran is the last of the Friday night group to find a man, even if it is supposed to be a short-term fling. He has had a difficult time in the past finding a partner who is willing to meet his needs, but he may have found someone willing to try. He does not have time for reading the gossip columns, so he is in the dark about this famous actor’s life and past that has him retreating to the Ellery cabins.
Jason is an out and proud actor from L.A., trying to disappear from the paparazzi for a while before his next round of filming begins. On his first morning after an uncomfortable night in his cabin, he meets Keiran, who he is instantly attracted to. By happenstance, he meets Finn, and is invited to the Friday night group meeting where Keiran will be. It’s an opportunity he can’t pass up.
The two men agree to a two week fling, no strings attached, sexy times galore relationship. A lot happens during that time, and both are insecure about the feelings their immanent separation bring to the fore.
Jason’s job is in L.A., but Keiran is all Ellery. However, after some conversation and compromise, the two find a way to be together and get their HEA.
Happy reading!

Kieran never went to college, instead he stayed in Ellery and works as a carpenter and builds furniture on the side. He is also the handyman for the Ellery Mountain Cabins. Jason is a actor and he has come to Ellery for a break. Jason will be at the cabin for three weeks and is trying to make it through the one year anniversary f his brothers death. Jason and Kieran spend some time together and grow closer. What will happen when Jason’s weeks are up?

Getting away from Hollywood and coming to Ellery Mountain is what Jason hopes will be filled with the chance to relax and not be under the microscope he is used to with the paparazzi. He gets more than he bargains for when Kieran, the local carpenter, crosses his path. What was only supposed to be a two week fling ends up being so much more when Kieran becomes not only his lover but his confidante as well. But can two men from different walks of life make it work? Will Jason’s past be something that stops him from finding his future? Emotionally this book tugged on my heartstrings. Jason has so much baggage to overcome and Kieran just needs to hug when he constantly feels he is not enough. Another great read in a fabulous series.
