In Sworn, Amel goes to see the Dominar to swear her loyalty to the Dominion, but she’s not the only one there to see him. Prince Rakturan is there to ask for his original bride back, though he’s been given a replacement. However, his first intended bride’s whereabouts are only known to a certain few and they would all like her to stay realitivly hidden until she overcomes her ailment (if that’s even possible). The tension in the room is high and everyone all around seems to be on edge – traitors and enemies could be anyone amongst them. Right after Amel becomes sworn, there’s a giant explosion and all around the city of Vanika breaks out into chaos.
Dusk Covenant begins when Savette and the dragons set off to rescue Amel and Hubric, and on a last minute decision, they end up taking the prince of Baojang with them, too. Hubric guides them to a secret safe place, where they run into someone very unexpected, but very important. It’s there that they split up into groups to spread the news of the now defeated sky-city, and to round up allies to join forces. Amel has been given her very first message to deliver, and paired with Hubric and Savette, they set off to do their work.
But nothing ever comes easy for Dragon Riders, especially with a war brewing around them. The Majika’s have eyes everywhere and they’re after Amel and all of the Dominion so that they can complete their mission – no matter the cost. Amel and her friends face close calls after close calls, but when all hope seems to be lost, something magical and strange happens…
Why does the prince prefer his first dragon rider bride over his replacement? Does prince Rakturan still have greedy intentions, or have things changed? Can Savette make the Magic work for her, instead of succumbing to it’s power? Amel gets her first ever offical messenger mission, but with everything going on, can she successfully deliver it? What will happen if she doesn’t?
Dusk Covenant by Sarah K. L. Wilson is the sixth novella in. Her Dragon School serial. This is a fast paced YA fantasy with tons of action and suspense with a strong female lead.
As the story continues, so does the complexity of it. The action and suspense has been non-stop and the twists just keep coming. With how quickly everything happens, it’s been getting harder for me to review these novellas with out spoiling anything, but I tried my hardest not to.
Though we spend some time in the city of Vanika, Amel and her friends get chased out and then sent on more missions, so the world continues to grow. I love how, despite all the chaos, her studies has continued to be an important factor in this serial (at least, this far, anyway). Even though Amel isn’t in Dragon School, she was sworn as Hubric Duneshifter’s apprentice and has been learning things they don’t even teach in school. Hubric is becoming one of my favorite characters and I’m really hoping he sticks around much longer (hopefully even to the end, haha).
Savette is still battling the magic inside of her, and while she seems to be doing better overall, she still sometimes has some worrying moments. I’ve come to really like Savette, and I think it would be so cool to have a powerful mage on the Dominion’s side, so I’m hoping she makes it through this process whole. Prince Rakturan surprised me in this episode. At first I didn’t like him and even thought he and and his people were most likely behind everything. I hope he continues to be the “good” guy he’s kind of being now, but I’m not sure I trust him just yet. His relationship with Enkenay also came as a surprise, and after everything that happened I’m happy to think he may become a more important character.
I thought the Majika’s were dark and dangerous before, but it seems that they’re only just beginning to show how stelthy and deadly they can be. They’re out for blood and their use of the Ifrit’s made things extremely intense, and at one point had me on the edge of my seat! I’m looking forward to see what sort of things they come up with next, but I’m also really hoping they don’t succeed, haha. This installment really had me scared for our beloved characters, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I loved the thrilling rush as Amel runs into complications while attempting to deliver her first message. I can’t wait to read more.
This is the sixth book in the Dragon school series and even though I have not read book five I was not completely lost on the story line. I really like this series and watching just what troubles life puts in Amel and Raolcan’s way. This series is a must read and now that there are six books so far written in the series you can binge read them all back to back. I can not wait for the next book to see exactly what will happen next.
A fiery read!
Evil lurks everywhere…
And it wants to destroy Amel and everything she loves…
Another captivating read in this series!
The heroine is becoming a fighter – a real bada** but she has some complications, of course – a choice between choosing friends or loyalty to the Dominion?
Wow – that ending left me speechless as well as relived. Thank god! Even though those last chapters left my heart beating so fast that it felt like it was coming out of my chest, it was just so damn good and interesting.
Full of dragons, dragon riders, magic, action, adventure, enemies, secrets, prophecies, danger, shadows and demons.
Perfect for readers of fantasy reads.
Audiobook
Lovely narration.
As everything goes horribly wrong very quickly, you learn a lot more about Savette and what she is. Amel is tasked with her first message as a sworn Dragon Rider. Boy, does she have a lot to learn! Leng is off on his own mission, and Savette still needs healing. The healing she requires comes from no Dragon Rider, full or sworn, nor any Magickas. She needs the healing arches, but it’s in the complete opposite direction of where Amel needs to go to deliver her message. Will she make the right decision? What is the right decision? As Prince Rakturan joins the small group, what is his role? Does he have a hidden agenda?
With each book, Amel grows stronger and stronger, learning new skills and gaining allies as she goes along. Her bond with Raolcan grows deeper and deeper and I love it. He is truly my favorite character! He is funny, witty, and dares anyone to try and harm Amel. Also, I love his willingness to always want to flame someone. Who couldn’t use that on their side? I haven’t been this emotionally invested in a series since The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout! I need the next book stat! Hopefully, I don’t have long to wait!
OMG I just don’t know what to say other than great. I really love Sarah’s writing and her characters. I really like the fact that a dragon (Enkenay) whose rider had passes is connected to Rakturan and that he seems to really care about Savette. As always Amel, who gets her first message to carry in this one, is my favorite character along with her dragon Raolcan. And the Prophecies spoken are a great forshadowing I really like reading them. And wow those last 2 chapters just wow
