How intelligent are great white sharks? Grace will risk everything to find out. Deadly dangers lurk below the surface … with a great white goes viral, the institute where she works seeks to capitalize on her new-found fame by producing a documentary about her work.
Underwater filmmaker Alec Galloway admires Dr. Mann and jumps at the opportunity to create a film showcasing the pretty biologist. As he heads to Guadalupe Island in Baja California Sur for a three-week expedition, it’s clear his fan-boy crush on Grace is turning into something more serious. I could relate to real life research and characters characters, really enjoyable book.
I loved they way author portrays the compassionate side of white sharks.
loved it , not my normal genre but it was a good read
I only bought this because I was desperate for something new to read (it was late at night) and it was on Bookbub’s list of sales. I have a fear amounting to phobia about sharks of any kinds (and that was from LONG before Jaws) so honestly, I really thought this would scare me too much to be able to read… but like I said, I was desperate. And I am SO GLAD that I took the plunge! Not only was I not scared, I found I was totally intrigued by the sharks and Grace’s interactions with them. Not enough that I’ll be going in the water but definitely I’m now very interested in sharks, particularly the great whites, and have been looking up documentaries on them, just out of curiosity.
The book was really well-written, with fabulous characterization, and the plot kept me turning pages til the very end, at 5:30 am! Really a delightful surprise!!!
Prefer stand alone books. Happy, finish ending
Very timely subject matter considering we are seeing more shark bites now than ever. Loved the scientific verses sensational conflict among characters. Very believable! Although this is a work of fiction, I thought the shark behavior and habitat descriptions were realistic. This held my interest more than the average romance. Great character development as well. Although we all fear sharks, it is important to preserve all species and ecosystems. Dr. Grace Mann is fearless and perhaps knows something others do not about the Great White Shark!
A sexy adventure packed with spine-tingling suspense…and sharks! If you enjoy reading stores filled with action and excitement that also teach you about interesting topics (like the ocean and sharks, in this case) while entertaining you, then you don’t want to miss McCaffrey’s Deep Blue. I look forward to diving into more books in this series!
Wow its a read that will keep you reading. It well written it draws you in and keeps you there
Apart from being suspenseful, Deep Blue highlights the difficulties and challenges that a researcher studying sharks would experience. Having lived on the KwaZulu Natal coast in South Africa for many years, one becomes accustomed to heeding precautions regarding sharks. I found this book insightful and interesting and loved the Shark Whisper’s determination to continue, despite the odds against her. Sometimes academia is under attack more often than industry, as scientists vie with one another to be the first in a field and more especially where money is involved. Grace’s unfortunate prior relationship with a colleague is hampering her project and when he deliberately tries to sabotage her work, Grace recognises that she has to show even more determination in completing her task. Filmmaker Alec is attracted to Grace, admiring not only her grace and beauty, but also her intelligence. Although he is sometimes skeptical of her relationship with sharks, he nevertheless sets out to protect her and keep her safe, despite his own past experiences. The attraction between Grace and Alec is undeniable, even though Grace does her best to guard her heart. Apart from Brad and the unscrupulous Fowler, I loved the interaction between the rest of the group that formed the research crew. Double D made me laugh and his friendship and loyalty to Alec touched me. The book is very well written with good background research and an understanding of the nature of sharks. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
Learned a lot about great white sharks and thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. Well written.
Liked the book.
Wonderfully written, great characters, could read the whole series and still want more!
I enjoyed this book a lot. It takes place near where I live and someplace I have visited and was excited to see it all in text. The build up was exciting and the “screw you” was perfect.
I will look for more from this author
Keeps you one edge, nothing scarier but intriguing than sharks and love connections make you hoping the two characters connect.
It was just kind of a pedestrian story.the writing wasn’t great. Learned some interesting things about sharks.
Free diving, white sharks and romance… A classic page turner!
