I read this book in one afternoon! In my opinion, this is Brittney Sahin’s best novel. Although I’ve enjoyed all of them, the character’s stakes were higher, and the plot continued to deliver twist after twist. As usual, Brittney’s strong writing pulls you into the story as she paints a world with suspense and rich characters you’ll fall in love with.
I loved that we got Cade’s story. Cade is an alpha male who had a strong protective side that I love. Gia had been through hell as a child and an adult and came out stronger on the side. They had an unconventional love story and I loved it.
Connor Crais was dreamy and perfect as usual. Ava Lucas did a great job bringing Gia to life
Cade King definitely does not think of himself as a good guy. He’s more like his father the monster. He doesn’t do relationships just mutually satisfying hookups. He’s ruthless in business and a workaholic. Gia Callaghan lives an almost nightmarish existence trying to stay one step ahead of a ruthless Irish mob boss who is determined to claim her. Meeting Cade King may be an answer to a prayer but it could also lead to him being killed. Keeping her safe becomes more than good deed it becomes his obsession. Falling for one another was not on either’s agenda but there’s no denying their attraction.
It started as a night out and ended with Cade King wanting to know more about the vixen and her connection to the Irish mob. She’s everything he shouldn’t mess with and everything he wants anyway. The daughter of a hitman and with a desperate desire for answers, Gia Callaghan let’s Cade into her life, think he might just be able to help her. They have to trust and rely on each other, something neither of them is very good at, but for once Cade wants to help not hurt and Gia wants to let someone else carry the load. It should be easy, saving the girl, but Cade discovers that not everything will always go his way, especially if the girl he opens up to is willing to risk his life for her own.
“She’s testing my limits. My patience.”
I say it every single time, but that’s because it is true. My Every Breath is Brittney Sahin’s best work yet. Her previous books have been amazing, it’s obvious the time and effort that goes into them, but MEB has all the good parts from her previous books rolled into one. There’s engaging characters, a multi-faceted storyline, angst, drama, and just the right amount of suspense. MEB is really a perfect combination of romance and suspense, there isn’t too much of either genre and it kept me entertained. In My Every Breath we travel to several places in the world, running from dangerous men and seeking answers to the heroine’s questions. We are treated to guns, foul language, the threat of death, while also get some super smoking hot smut scenes and a heaping pile of emotions. It’s descriptive, allowing the reader to see the locations and the characters, as well as really feel in the moment. I really enjoyed that My Every Breath developed from just a man seeking to save a woman, to a man allowing her to save him and together they help each other. Of course, none of it is that easy, but it’s the character growth and the storyline development that works so well.
All of the evil. All of the hate. I want it gone. I just want him.
Cade King is, well, a King. If you’ve read Brittney Sahin’s previous standalone, Someone Like You, then you’ll remember Grace King and her need to control. If you haven’t, you should. Though MEB is a standalone completely, for me I liked knowing the family completely. Cade is definitely even more controlling, in business and in relationships. He doesn’t give up, he doesn’t trust easily, and he certainly doesn’t let go once he knows what he wants. In this case, that’s Gia. I looooooveeeed Gia. Loved. She’s naive, which could have easily not worked out well, but does in this book. She’s cultured in the way of mob mentality and being more mature than one’s age, but when it comes to romance? Girl is a hot mess. It makes for a very interesting romance storyline though, especially with Cade’s well known experience. Their connection is immediate and things do move pretty fast between them, but not like Brittney Sahin’s previous romantic novels. Though their chemistry is palpable, there’s hidden agendas, a lot going on, and not a whole lot of time to really build something up. It promises to be interesting though and it definitely was. I liked them together, I would love more time with them, but I think their story worked out perfectly.
“‘How else do you think I blow off steam?’
. . .
“I’m pretty sure there’s more than one way.”
For me, a good romance book isn’t just about the romance. I like there to be some depth to both the characters and to the storyline. I need a plot, a fairly thick one that I can’t quite predict. My Every Breath is fairly action-packed and open-ended enough that readers can imagine what more is to come for Cade and Gia. It surprised me, was suspenseful, and yes, had just the right amount of time spent in the bedroom. I love Brittney Sahin’s male characters and our hero in this novel, Cade, is no different. He’s got a past and a good heart, he just needed the right woman. And Gia? I repeat, I loved her! Definitely recommend pre-ordering this one and reading it as soon as it releases.
When I read Someone Like You I hated Cade at the beginning. But the more I read the more I started to like Cade.
So when Brittney said she was giving Cade his very own book I was so excited.
I’ve never read a mob book before so didnt know what to expect.
But I totally loved it!!!! Gripped me from start to finish.
Cade He was amazing, sexy and swoony. He tried so hard to fight his feelings for Gia. In the end he could do it anymore and gave in
Gia I loved her so much. She didnt take no shit and she had so much fight in her. She was such a strong and amazing character.
I love Brittney and her words. Each book I read I love it more and more.
Well done lovey xx
I’m a sucker for a good mob book. This one was pretty good. There was quite a bit of suspense in it, very cloak and dagger towards the end. The beginning had me a little confused especially with Cade. It wasn’t clear what he did and it was just like oh hey, I’m going to insert myself in all this mob biz because Gia is sexy. Huh? That part was weird but other than that, it was a solid story.
I was pretty excited to meet Cade King! I already met the man in Someone Like you and well, I never could resist such a mystery like him. Even if Corbin was the one I wanted a story for asap, I knew Cade will be just as good.
If you want to read My Every Breath as a standalone, you should go for it. Even if Grace & Noah make a small appearance, you won’t have to much of them. You can still enjoy this one and then read the other if you want. And I’m usually not reading books out of order so if I say you can, believe me you’re safe.
My Every Breath was a race to stay alive and escape. The time reading this book will fly by. Buckled up because Cade & Gia have lots to hide, to reveal and to learn. Don’t settle for what you see because it won’t be what you get! Brittney Sahin will keep you on your toes all along! I’ve discovered her writing with Someone Like You and I was already in awe with her ability to surprise me constantly. No other author give me the element of surprise like she does. It’s most definitely one of her strength and why she can now count on me to read everything single book she wants to give her readers.
Cade is a business man used to command. He has power and he’s power. When he meets Gia, he doesn’t know to which extent his life is going to change, how little control he’ll have. No matter what, helping her is not a question, it’s a matter of doing the right thing now once and for all.
Gia wants out of her life. She never asked to be the daughter of a hitman and she never asked to be close to the Irish mob. She wants to go back to her roots, to find a purpose and finally be herself by herself.
From the start, Cade & Gia are together against the world if you can put it that way. The development of their relation felt real and good. The tension quickly grows to become unbearable at some point. This is not only a story of a man saving the girl. Nope nothing is easy and certainly not the girl.
Strong-minded characters, a storyline keeping you at the edge of your seat and chemistry giving your chills, My Every Breath is a must read, a top favorite of mine for 2018.
Now I’m going to read Brittney’s entire backlist beginning with Connor’s story, The Hard Truth
The man I loved to hate in Someone Like You, the cold hearted brother with a wall surrounding him making him more like a robot with no emotions, a man who shows a bit of his real self, cracking that wall a bit near the end, Cade.
Brittney Sahin knows how to tell a story, knows how to twist your assumptions and emotions, to go from hating a character to loving and wanting him all to yourself.
Cade, the ruthless man and some even considered a monster gets tangled up in Gia’s web, the daughter of a hitman with ties to the Irish mob. He meets her at a strip club and goes to defend her, only to have her turn around and go against him so she can protect him. But the head of the mob, Rory, wants Gia and will kill any one who gets close to Gia to keep her in line, he now has his sights on Cade. Gia doesn’t want another innocent to get hurt and warns Cade but that only stokes his need to protect her and will do anything to do it, which only causes him to upheaval his life and those he loves around him to keep everyone safe as he goes head to head with the mob boss and her dad, a ruthless hitman.
What a story filled with suspense, betrayals, lies, secrets and oh my my my my steamy, fog up the mirror sensual steamy scenes. I did hate Cade in the beginning, a womanizing man wh*** who didn’t go a few days w/o bedding a different woman, all cold and calculating, no emotions and no real compassion or kindness shining through. He was protective of his brother and sister’s family, letting the facade crack a bit and then with Gia as they got to know one another, his walls came tumbling down piece by piece….a different man altogether by the end. And what a man he is as we learn all his deep secrets and find out why he is the way he is and the hate turns to love and understanding.
Gia was a force to be reckoned with as well, a strong, determined, compassionate woman who finally gets through to Cade as they run for their lives, hiding and trying to keep one step ahead of Rory and her father.
A read that had my heart beating fast with the suspense and danger, spine tingling with the steam, and tears streaming down my face near the end. A read that had my emotions changing from hate to love, a read with many twists and turns I didn’t see coming, a read that had many characters from previous books coming together to help Cade and Gia making me want to go back and read all the previous books. A read I couldn’t put down till I was done and now I can’t wait for the next book from this talented author.
This is the first book I have read by Brittney Sahin and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. From the moment Cade met Gia, I knew the scenes between these two were going to be hot. Cade was hooked on her from the beginning and could not let her go. Gia was more stubborn to admit her feelings for Cade, but Cade was determined to win her over. The story is definitely suspenseful and the discoveries that Gia and Cade made definitely shocked me. This is a complete story even though it is part of a series and it has a wonderful HEA.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
5 STARS FOR MY EVERY BREATH!! Wow, this Book was a page turner, I could not put it down. There was so much suspense, sexy times, fantastic characters and surprises in this story. Cade and Gia had chemistry from their first meeting and these two will burn your kindles up. This is my second book by Brittney Sahin and I glad I found her, she is a phenomenal storyteller. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
**I received a copy of My Every Breath from Net Galley and BookBuzz.net in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
My Every Breath by Brittney Sahin is the second book in her series with the first one being Someone Like You. I didn’t read the first book so I was a bit confused at first but did manage to get into the second half of the book. I’d give the book all 4 stars but I’d recommend reading the first book.
