“Your life can change in an instant”~ MaddenI never thought a night out could change everything. All I wanted was to dance, drink, maybe take a cute guy home for a night of fun. I met the guy, but the night ended as a nightmare. Screams, and blood, and tragedy haunt my dreams. I’m alive and I owe it all to the gorgeous marine who refused to leave me for dead. But how can I start a new … relationship when I’m not even sure who I am anymore?
“I’ll always save you” ~Thane
After a long work week all I wanted was to let my hair down and to meet a nice guy. When I laid eyes on the gorgeous, tattooed man at the bar, I had to have him. I never would have thought the night could end in such horror. I saved his life, and I swear I’ll save him as many times as I have to. Even if it means saving him from himself.
**This is the first book in the Heathens Ink series in which every book can be read as a stand alone.
CAUTION: this book is recommended for readers 18+ and does contain one scene of graphic violence that may disturb some readers. And, in case it wasn’t clear from the description, this is an M/M romance, man parts will be touching.

While the situation that leads to Thane and Madden meeting is horrible, I loved their sweet love story. Madden is an amazingly strong character and it was so fulfilling to see him get everything he deserves, including his HEA. Thane is such a steadfast and supportive partner and I love that he was able to become Madden’s family. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!
Thane and Madden meet at the club bar with strobing lights and pounding music. It’s instant lust, instant attraction – the perfect first club meet. Until the gun shots start.
This is a story about love, but it’s also a story about overcoming and healing. Thane and Madden are both men who have dealt with their own pain and struggles – they are no strangers to adversity. But when a moment of fun turns into one of the most dangerous nights of their lives, old wounds are reopened and magnified by a new trauma.
What I really liked about this book is that although there is a lot of adversity and personal healing, the romance is still strong and thriving. Thane and Madden have a beautiful connection with each other and with their friends. They are well developed characters who grow and change, and despite all the pain, there is a lot of humor, joy, and snark. Plus there’s some super hot sex scenes which were wonderful. Overall, I really liked this book and I’m so happy I started this series.
*WARNING* story contains explicit m/m adult content, gun violence (one scene), talks of suicide
I like this book because these men break the stereotype of the gay male being petite and feminine. I was expecting shifters, but it wasn’t a disappointment when these were just plain humans. What saddens me is Madden’s story is probably reality for some. I think this was tastefully written and it brings hope to someone who needs it.
RESCUE ME is the first book in the Heathens Ink series and we meet up with Thane, an ex-Marine and now Firefighter, and Madden who works at Heathens Ink. They have only just met when there is a shooting in the club where they are and Madden goes down.
I enjoyed this story as it moves from Madden’s recovery and also deals with his addiction and PTSD. With a complimentary crew of secondary characters, this looks like it’s a series well worth reading. Thane is a gentle giant and Madden has to spread his wings. I may not agree with how he went about it but I can see what needed to be done and why.
A great start to the series and definitely recommended by me.

K.M. Neuhold is a new to me author and Cooper North is a new to me narrator. I really enjoyed this book and the connection between Thane and Madden. I am looking forward to reading more about the men of Heathens Ink.
My first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Moving onto the next!
This book has all the emotions, and talks about PTSD in a truly meaningful way. I loved reading about Madden and Thane.
I knew I was going to enjoy this book. What I didn’t expect was to be totally amazed. It starts with a simple seeing each other to bam instant downward spiral, and just like a rollercoaster, you go through many loops, twists, and turns before you get to the happy ending. Madden and Thane are great together. From the start they are learning for each other. You also get to know a little about the rest of the Heathens Ink gang. Not only do you get and awesome story, but also, you have a great start to what looks like an amazing series. I can’t wait until the next one comes out. I highly recommend this book and I’d watch this author. I see great reads coming from her.
After Madden and Thane survive a night club shooting, Thane offers to let Madden stay at his place. The two explore the feelings that started the night of the shooting.
I liked how Madden’s issues were dealt with sensitivity. I felt his healing was realistic. Thane is a sweet nurturing guy. The writing is great. You really feel what the characters are feeling.
Bravo! I love to read m/m books and when they bring real life issues front and center then show the after effects that are caused, I absolutely feel the emotion. Definitely continuing this series
