Maybe Someone Like You is the perfect slow burn! Stacy Wise takes us on a journey with a heroine who is smart, ambitious, and ready to step out of her comfort zone to get what she wants. Add friendship, family, and my favorite — a sweet and sexy hero to swoon over — and this book delivers a dreams-can-come-true story with a HEA that left me wanting more.
This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
First off, I loved Katie so much!! She was the cutest, most relate-able characters that I’ve read in a long time. I love that she would blush bright red whenever she was embarrassed because that’s exactly what I do. Trying to talk to a cute guy? Not gonna happen! Her and I were also similar in the fact that we are people pleasers. We want everyone around us to be happy and would do anything to make that happen for them. Sometimes in doing that, we forget ourselves. We forget that we are important too and that we need to put ourselves first once in awhile. Basically Katie and I were two peas in a pod. Seeing her grow into herself and figuring out who she wanted to be made for a truly touching story.
Let’s talk about Ryan…..could I swoon any harder for this guy?? Whew! He definitely made it onto my book boyfriend list. I loved how supportive and encouraging Ryan was. Plus the way he had a passion for helping others….gah, It was awesome to see.
I also loved the little details to this story. The relationship Katie had with her father and gran, plus the relationship Ryan had with his niece and family members, were just so beautiful to read. I’m glad this book had a nice family aspect to it in some parts.
Overall, you should pick this up. It’s a story of encouragement and coming into your own. It shows you that there’s a time for everything. People progress at different stages and that’s okay. We all have a story to tell and a path that leads us.
My first book from Stacy Wise and it most definitely won’t be my last!! “Maybe Someone Like you” was brilliantly done and so addictive! The Romance was a slow burn in the best possible way and perfectly done with the most amazing characters. Katie and Ryan were fated from the very beginning and I adored how their friendship blossoms throughout the book.
About the story:
Katie’s recently graduated law school which should be something to celebrate, but that’s not the case for her at the moment. The job offer she had lined up fell through after a recent merger and to top it off her boyfriend dumps her to be single for a the season? Did I mention he’s a TOOL!? Any- who In attempt to help cheer Katie up Lauren (her roommate) invites her to a yoga class. On the way Katie ends ups lingering outside a kickboxing class that peeks her interest, bumping into Ryan. A HOTT trainer who offers her a one on one trial session. Ryan *swoon* is a hot, tattooed trainer – who by the way is the complete opposite of her ex and could very well be her perfect match. Taking a leap Katie decides to sign up for classes with Ryan as her trainer. After class things slowly start to look up when she decides to takes the help from her mother for a job interview at a well known Firm.
I really enjoyed Katie and her perspective way of thinking. She’s smart, honest, determined, hardworking and at times unsure of herself in Romantic situations. Katie slowly goes from being somewhat of a meek mouse to force of nature during her sessions with Ryan, the two connect easily, but his mixed signals have her flustered and unsure romantically. With both of them from completely different worlds Katie is convinced it’s all in her head.
Did I mention that Ryan’s a dream!! He’s charming, sweet, tough and protective, and not at all what Katie expects. He’s multi layered with ambitious of his own and a genuine good person, not at all the “player” she assumes. Ryan pushes Katie to her limits during her sessions and they work together flawlessly, with the tension between them slowly building into something neither of them can ignore.
Overall I really adored how Katie and Ryan’s relationship blossoms, while not drawing away from Katie’s growth as an adult. Katie’s ambitious, driven with a big heart trying to do her best to please her mom ideals without losing sight of her Grans advice for life passions, and working hard to make decisions that would’ve made her dad proud. Overall a wonderful story about self discovery and falling in love.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read such a wonderful story, I look forward to reading more from Stacy Wise 🙂
Great book filled with suspense, and good characters
31/2 stars good book
A good PG rated story!
It was fun watching Katie get tougher in all aspects of her life as she got personal with her personal trainer, Ryan. This sweet new adult book is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.
Stacy Wise has created anamazing slow burn romance with charming characters and a hero that melted my heart.
Maybe Someone Like You is a sweet story about coming into ones self. Insecurities plague Katie’s mind after he boyfriend went from Prince potential to total toad. Always trying to please Mom isn’t exactly a confidence booster either. Losing her first Job before it starts…Yeah, Katie is wallowing in self pity. Until she meets him.
Ryan is the total opposite of anything Katie has ever found attractive. He’s a big tattooed guy. He looks rough around the edges and like her could crush her. But it seerms the only thing getting crushed is her heart…
Miscommunication. Or lack of communication seems to be the comedy of errors that sets Katie up for more than a gym membership. It sets her up to fall. And fall she did.
This sweet story was a cute read. Not to spoil anyone’s fun but gets more intense in feels than I thought it would. Katie’s insecurities can take a toll on the reader and make you feel her self deprecating thoughts. But just wait, you will feel better! I promise. Katie gets her act together and well…It is a beautiful thing.
This is the first book I’ve read from the author and I was really excited to read it. I liked the characters well enough but liking the characters does not make me enjoy the story, especially if I can’t really connect with them. This story also moved at a very slow pace and I was expecting so much more. This one just wasn’t for me.
