So did Alex or didn’t Alex? The conclusion is a mystery, but the last chapter was SUPER! This book is fascinating as it moves between two completely different versions of the same story, and at the end, the reader still really doesn’t know which version is true. A suspensive read!
Thought provoking read, despite the goofy cover art and Lifetime Movie-esque title extension. The book opens with Alex, our 40 something main character waking up in Ibiza after a night of debauchery with her friends. Unfortunately, she’s not alone in the bed; she has apparently taken someone home with her. Not the best behavior to come out of a married with kids successful medical doctor.
She barely manages to cover up the truth from most of her friends and heads home to Sussex. In a surprising move, she immediately confesses to her husband with the typical statement that it meant nothing and she didn’t even know who the guy was. Very shortly, however, we find out that the man is, in fact, known to her.
The chapters alternate narrators, Alex, Jonathan (the Ibiza hookup), and Rob, the wronged husband. It becomes clear that Alex’s and Jonathan’s version of events are very different, forcing the reader to choose the truth teller. I formed my opinion early on, but must admit I wavered at times.
I really liked that the book brought to light the idea that men are not the only ones capable of being sexual predators and that we should never shame a male who bravely chooses to come forward alleging abuse at the hands of a woman.
Good psychological thriller. Great ending.
Once you start reading this book you won’t want to put it down. Unpredictable. Keeps you wondering throughout. Excellent read.
I didn’t like this book. Young man was too contriving and controlling so didn’t finish
I really liked this book. I like phychological thrillers, and enjoyed this one and read it so fast, I decided to see what else was available by the author , Lucy Dawson. I then purchased The Daughter which was even better than White Lies.
Spent the night with ‘white lies’ – couldn’t stop reading. Great entertainment!
Read it in an afternoon!
Conceivable, current, engaging work. A “Wait! What?!” kind of ending which was completely unexpected. Read it in one afternoon. Couldn’t put it down.

Thank you Net Gallery and Bookouture for allowing me to review White Lies by Lucy Dawson.
The book starts out with Alex (a doctor) waking up to a strange man next to her. A drunken mistake one night while on holiday. She inadvertently sleeps with one of her patients, Jonathan. Then soon finds out he’s only 17, still in high school. Alex soon asks Jonathan to leave hotel room which soon he spirals out of control. Jonathan becomes obsessed with Alex.
Back from holiday, Alex confesses to her husband Rob, I’m saying out loud no, no, no. I expect a lot of fighting, divorce, etc. Then we find out Rob cheated before with coworker younger than his wife. Then when Jonathan returns to the picture he is totally obsessed with Alex, lying in wait, showing up here and there. Alex feels like she’s being watched and the feeling is real. Soon everything explodes and Alex’s life is going out of control. Jonathan lies and soon Alex finds herself without employment due to Jonathan’s accusations. She should of just denied affair but this wouldn’t be a book then huh?
I like the characters and felt sorry for some. I like how the author did the different point of views, keeps you guessing who is telling the truth and who do you trust. Great ending. I was afraid it would be awesome throughout the book and fall flat but it didn’t. I was drawn in from the first to last page and read past midnight and didn’t stop, chewing my nails. This book will keep you reading till the unbelievable end.
I recommend this 100%, talk about patient/doctor confidentially.

Dr Alexandra Inglis a doctor and married mother of two young girls, she goes to Ibiza for a girls getaway with her friends. She really needed this break, for several months she has been trying to come to grips with the fact that her husband slept with another woman. After a night of heavy drinking Alexandra wakes to find a man she doesn’t know in her bed.
Horrified over what she has done Alexandra confesses to her husband Rob, who assures her they will work through the problems in their marriage, they soon realize this is going to be much harder than they expected.
Alexandra finds out that the stranger she slept with in Ibiza is actually a patient of hers and he is only 17 years old. Now the psychological roller coaster ride begins. Stalking and a lot of he said, she said. Alexandra’s career and marriage are in jeopardy. The story is told from each person’s point of you and as you read each one you believe them and start to question what the other person said. Who can be trusted, who is telling the truth? I was very surprised when all is revealed. This was the first book I’ve read by Lucy Dawson and I look forward to reading more! I enjoyed this story and the characters.
