THE IMBROGLIO AT THE VILLA POZZI (Book 6)
While holidaying in Italy, Angela Marchmont is persuaded to postpone her trip to Venice and go to Stresa instead, to investigate a pair of spiritualists who are suspected of defrauding some of the town’s English residents out of their money. But what starts out as a minor matter swiftly becomes more serious when one of the residents in question is found dead in the beautiful gardens of his home, having apparently committed suicide.
Seduced by the heady sights and scents of the Italian Lakes, and distracted by an unexpected encounter with an old adversary who seems bent on provoking her, Angela sets out to find out the truth of the affair and resume her journey to Venice before she forgets herself and loses her head—and her heart.

Marvelous descriptions make you feel as if you were in the same era as the characters.
Angela and characters are always enjoyable entertainment!
I really enjoyed these books. They are comparable to Agatha Christie’s books with strong, independent, female characters who are middle-aged and decent. I love cozy mysteries of the English countryside.
Absolutely outstanding series,
Angela Marchmont has a mysterious past with broad hints about her secret agent-like activities durin World War I. Her lack of a apparent husband and that she is not a widow is also intriguing. This series of books makes for an enjoyable read, primarily because the books are gentle. The author doesn’t include bloody details or horrible actions. Instead the characters, as a rule, maintain the politeness the reader expects of the upper classes in the 1920s. Yet the mysteries themselves are well written and intriguing.
I always enjoy these stories and the historical information and location descriptions.
Easy-going British mystery.
These are so entertaining. A thoroughly engaging heroine.
Just finished all 3 of these books and I love the characters and the mystery as it unfolds. Not always able to predict but it always makes sense.
Love these mysteries. Will keep reading whenever available.
Very good series! I’m not usually a big fan of the time period, but had enjoyed each book in this set very much! The writing is top-notch, the characters are fun and interesting, and the mysteries are crafted very well. This set had been my introduction to this author’s books, but I’ll definitely be downloading more of her books–probably ALL of her books!
Three very boring, poorly written books. I won’t read the second set of three no matter how far they are discounted.
