Interview with the Author
Paris Ever After is a standalone sequel to The Paris Effect. So I don’t need to read The Paris Effect first?
Correct! Each book can be enjoyed on its own, but like a café crème and macaron, they go great together. Both stories take you on a journey through Amy’s Paris, a Paris few casual tourists ever see. But each story has its own path—a surprising, often unpredictable path of self-discovery as Amy struggles to confront the challenges being thrown at her.
What inspired you to write the book?
Readers made me write it! I was privileged to be invited to more than a dozen book clubs that had read The Paris Effect, and it was unanimous: People really wanted to know what happened next. Their questions got me thinking, one idea led to another, and voilà, a new book was born. And spending more (virtual) time in Paris was not exactly a hardship. The next best thing to being in Paris is writing—or reading—about it!
What kind of story is it?
Some say it’s a roller coaster ride, and it’s true that a lot takes place in a short period of time. But it’s also a love story—Amy’s love for her new friend Margaret, for her best (and lost) friend Kat, for her husband (in spite of all that’s happened between them), for her unborn child, for Paris, and a new love. Just like in real life, the characters are flawed and not everybody always does the right thing. Amy learns a great deal in this often-humorous-sometimes-shocking story.
Many books have been written about Paris. What sets yours apart?
Who doesn’t like a Paris love story? Paris is the ultimate dream destination, and it’s truly as beautiful and romantic as it’s cracked up to be! But as Amy learns, it’s also a multilingual, multinational metropolis of street hustlers, diesel fumes, and pickpockets. Throughout both books, Amy gets to know the real Paris. And so will you. Thanks for reading!

Paris Ever After is the first book that I have read by K.S.R Burns. It took me on an interesting journey and I met some great characters along the way. Even though this appears to be the sequel to The Paris Effect, it could be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing a big part of the story.
The book centres around Amy Brodie who takes off to Paris on a bit of a whim. But perhaps she should have mentioned that to someone…. especially her husband. What was originally only going to be a short stay turned out to be much longer. Amy begins to build a life for herself, meeting new friends, having fun and finding some of the enjoyment she felt she had lacked in her ‘old’ life. But what happens when her husband shows up unexpectedly- does he want to reconcile or make their separation more permanent? Amy has another unexpected upheaval that adds to her stress and confusion. What should she do- as her Paris dream begins to crumble. What does fate have in store for her? Will she return to her husband and old life, or will she hold fast to life in Paris?
This story was a great introduction to K.S. R Burns work. There were some parts that I felt were a little repetitive, but not enough to keep me from enjoying the story. There are some fantastic descriptions in this book that really brought everything to life and I loved feeling part of the story at those points. The characters were good, although there were times that Amy really frustrated me, and I wanted to shake her. Some of her actions were/seemed somewhat irrational and unbelievable.
The story had a good pace and a smooth flow- with some drama and a few twists to keep things interesting.
Thank you, K.S.R Burns!

This is my first book by this author and Im really sorry I didn’t read the first book in this series before I did this one. I’m thinking I would have had a better appreciation of the characters and the story itself, although the author did a great job in putting in just enough so I didn’t feel lost I just did not form the attachment I probably would have had I read the first one. So I plan to do that and read them back to back because even in saying that I really enjoyed getting to know Paris through this author’s words, she did an amazing job in my opinion of building a picture in my mind and I completely appreciated that.
This story had just enough twists and turns and wondering what would happen next. I loved it when Amy showed how strong she could be and was just a bit disappointed in some of the decisions she made along the way that showed her weaker side but I do fully love how she wasn’t perfect so in that she was an easy character to understand.
I do highly recommend this book, it had a smooth flow that made it an enjoyable read, but as I said I would recommend reading the first one before starting this one..I can’t wait to read them both together and also can not wait to see what comes next from this author.

Paris Ever After : A Novel ( Paris Forever book 2) by K.S.R Burns is the second book in the Paris Forever Series although this can be read as a standalone I do recommend reading the first book in this series.Ive read other books by this author and I love their style of writing and ability to grab your attention and keep it till the end. This is a fast paced story that I found myself sad that I read it to fast and I wanted more..Get ready to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride. This is the story about Amy she really needed a break from her life. She suffered a close loss and just took off to Paris not saying anything to anybody. But her husband finds her and brings her home. She then takes off to Paris again to start her life all over again. Shes trying to put her life back together but she sees her husband checking into a hotel in Paris. Why is he here? What could he want?To get back together? How does he react when her secret is revealed? There are some twists and turns that had me trying to figure out what happens next. When someone from her past shows up, what does she do? I loved this book and highly recommend it especially if you want to find out what happens with Amy? I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Paris Ever After by K.S.R. Burns is the sequel to her Paris Effect. I have to admit that I had not read the first book when I started on Paris Ever After and as the writer gave us Cliff notes on the first one at the beginning of the second one, I did not feel at any point that ‘oh I wish I had read the first book’ thought crossing my mind.
Paris Ever After is the story of Amy Brodie and her journey of discovering herself, in Paris, while pregnant by her estranged husband whose last words were in the line of ‘I don’t want to see your face ever again’. Amy has a group of intriguing and quirky characters that she has met in Paris that made me laugh and yell at the same time … I loved the way the writer brought Paris and French into life for me and I felt like sitting there next to them or walking along on them. I assume most people would think that a story taking place in Paris would be oozing with romance and hearts and candle light but that is not the case here, I do not think it is really a romance, for me Paris Ever After is a journey of self-discovery and learning to trust in oneself and sticking with your gut AND yes, there is some romance in here as well as we all hope that we would have some romance in our lives so it is normal … it is so much beyond it! Maybe some would call Amy selfish and spoilt and … I do not agree … just think back to where she comes from, what kind of life she has lived up to now, what kind of a relationship she has/had with her husband and … heck yes, we need to be selfish at times and we need to take decisions that are NOT popular and we do NOT apologise for them! Kudos to Amy for doing so! If you are getting confused by those conflicting reviews, I suggest, take a chance on it and you can always walk away from the story if it turns out not to be your cup of tea but at the same time, it might end up being your own true Parisian hot chocolate!
Paris Ever After: A Novel (Paris Forever Book 2) By K.S.R Burns is a wonderful emotionally filled book that grabbed my attention from word one. While this was my first book by this author I do suggest reading book one as I just think it’d enhance the reading experience for this story, but I never felt lost or confused not reading it first. Amy is a character that I connected with instantly as I can understand her need to get away and start over. Each character in the story adds something more to it. They are realistic and relatable. The story is well written and paced nicely. It’s filled with heartwarming and emotional moments with a bit of suspense to make a very well rounded story. This definitely won’t be my last book from this author. This book is definitely worthy of my five star rating.
I love the funny quirky writing of K.S.R Burns. This was even better than the first. I really love how Amy had developed since the first. I have never been to Paris, but a girl can dream, and Burns takes me there. Her details are impeccable.

In all honesty, I disliked & liked Paris Ever After. I will tell you I have not yet read Paris Effect & I could be missing crucial pieces of the puzzle. I may go back to read the first book in search of those details that could change my opinion but until then I can only go by what I know.
Dislikes:
How could Amy find out she’s pregnant by her husband, that she ran out on, and not try harder to let him know? I get he was hurt or angry or both that she left & told her to go & not come back but this is bigger than that. I thought it was selfish of her.
When Amy sees that William has traveled to Paris, OF COURSE TO FIND HER, how could she not immediately contact him? She has monumental information. That should have been her priority.
I knew immediately when she described the visual changes in William & then his selfies that he DIDN’T send to her, that there was someone else. How could she not? Especially after she’d been gone for months & didn’t look like she was ever coming back? Ever think that there wouldn’t be someone else if she would have done better in letting him know she was pregnant? I understand changes in these facts would mean the rest of the story essentially wouldn’t exist but these are the things that made me angry with Amy.
And William? He should have told Amy immediately his reasons for being in Paris, not led Amy on & then sleep with her. GAH!! It takes two to tango but as a woman, I know, that wouldn’t have happened if Amy had known his true intentions for being there.
How could William turn his back on his daughter if he was so ‘family oriented’ as he was described as being?
My heart hurts from so many scenes. This is a book hangover I may not get over very soon.
Ok, enough complaining.
Likes:
Well written story.
Even though so many situations made me want to scream, I had to keep reading to see what happened, how it all worked out.
I found the support characters interesting, as well as their stories that intertwined with Amy’s.
I’m glad Amy got her HEA.
Definitely, a great book club read because it will open dialogue for what I’m sure will be some interesting discussions & debates.
This novel was delightful and full of surprises! I really enjoyed the way that Amy’s life in Paris was described at times as if she were living in a magical world. Amy left Phoenix and took off for Paris without telling her husband. Now, she is still in Paris and she is surrounded by new friends and great food. Her life is busy, as is everyone else’s around her. She’s trying to put a new life together. Then suddenly on her thirtieth birthday, her husband shows up in Paris. And soon a mysterious woman shows up at the house she has been staying at. As things fall apart again, Amy must decide if she is going home to Phoenix or staying in Paris. Author KSR Burns has written a novel that is full of life changing events and fun characters. Paris sounds lovely and beautiful, almost magical, even more so to someone who hasn’t been there. I loved the descriptions of the Paris streets, the flowers, the delicious food, and the tea.

Paris Ever after is the second book in the Paris Forever season, I had not read the first book before reading this one and I wish I had. I did enjoy this read enough that I will go back and read the series in sequence.
I enjoyed the characters in this book, specifically Amy and the touch of amusement she brings to the story. For me the storyline took a while to pick up.
I enjoyed the Paris setting and the use of French phrases throughout the story. Overall it was a good read and I would be very intrigued to follow Amy’s story from the very beginning.
Paris Ever After: A Novel

5 out of 5 stars
The story Paris Ever After: A Novel by K.S.R. Burns is a wonderful book that I loved reading. It is the story of Amy who has started to build a new life for herself in Paris. She has made a few friends and finds herself looking forward to the future. Then when situations occur and unexpected guests show up her life becomes chaotic. She finds herself wondering if she will even have a place to stay. What does the future have in store for Amy? This story is told from Amy’s POV and how she feels about the situations she is now dealing with. This includes the appearance of her estranged husband and also the unusual behavior of those who are her friends. My emotions went up and down reading about how she felt. You can feel her confusion and sadness. She is a character that I grew to love and wanted her to be happy. This is a story that once I started I got lost in until I had finished the last page. I just had to know what happens and where Amy ends up. I loved the attention to detail that is given to the different places that Amy goes to in Paris. It made me feel like I was walking right there with her. Amy also loves to cook and the different foods that Paris has to offer. There are secrets that are uncovered and with them sometimes more questions than answers. This book is the second story in a series, however, can be read as a standalone. I had not read the first and I found I had no trouble following the story. I will definitely be going back to read the first one.
Amy turns 30 in Paris, doesn’t that sound wonderful. It is. Amy ran away to Paris and met the most wonderful woman who took her in like Amy was her daughter. She found a job that she enjoyed, friends that she wanted to spend time with, and then she found out she was pregnant. She tried to tell her estranged husband but he refused to answer any of her attempts. Then she sees him, at the hotel she had stayed at, and she wonders what he wants and if he came to get her, to win her back over.
Amy is a strong character and was able to take what was thrown at her without really losing a step. There were a few twists that I wondered if her reaction was realistic. The fact that her husband shows up, finds out she is pregnant, and then proceeds to just spend time with her without having an important conversation seemed off to me but Amy just went on with life. Maybe more of us should be that easy going but I do believe most people would question their husband about their intentions. There were a few other happenings that made me go HMM… is that real.
The setting of Paris is one of my favorites. I love hearing about the sites, the great cafes, the beautiful cathedrals, and the wonderful sounds of Paris. Every time I read a book in this setting I hope that it takes me to a place that I haven’t been and someday hope to visit. K.S.R. Burns is talented with her words and is able to transport her readers to a wonderful city.
There are a few side stories, a friend now being who they seem and a stranger showing up and pushing Amy out of her comfort area, that kept the story interesting. I liked that they added an additional twist to a story that seemed to be heading down the path I expected it to.
