He was a drug I couldn’t kick. I’d overdosed on him before. It didn’t turn out well.I was stupid enough to let him crack my heart, in hopes we would fall off the same cliff together. No matter how much my idiotic heart wanted to love him, my head knew better. He didn’t choose me.He chose her. That’s where the problem started.Maybe that’s how it should end.
4.5 stars
“To go to the den of a lion without a tiger would be the stupidest thing I could do. Lucky for me, I am the fucking tiger, and I will get my tigress back.”
Sinister Love, the second book in the Dark Intentions Duet, is a breathtaking conclusion to Ryken and Saskia’s story. It grants you a great and angsty reader experience, continuing right where Distorted Love left us hanging.
“It takes everything in me to not overdose on his touch. Because that’s all that seems to happen. He touches me, I melt, and I’m his.”
T. L. Smith again managed to bring us deep into the mind of two dark and lost souls. One tainted by the other, but dark nonetheless. And still I always manage to find something good in those characters. Always find reasons to like them even though they seem kind of sick.
“That’s the problem with Ryken Lord…he likes to make you overdose him.”
Ryken and Saskia work very well together. One pulls the other pushes. They want to live without the other, but they need each other desperately. The heart wants, what the heart wants.
“Ryken Lord is my oxygen, but I want to be my own air.”
Like the love between Saskia and Ryken their story is unpredictable and sinister. You never know what happens next only when you read it. Sometimes it’s rocky, sometimes it’s brutal and sometimes you are hit with all the feels. They are riding a dangerous rodeo, but they manage to tame each other and show the underworld who’s the king and his queen. The tiger and his tigress.
“We are perfect together. A sonata of two perfect souls coming together to form a movement within a symphony.”
Ah, yeah…. The confessions. Confusing as hell. Who keeps confessing through the whole story, starting in Distorted Love? Who is plotting? Who wants to destroy? Who’s the mole? Keep guessing 😀 I won’t tell you – HAHA – only thing I do tell is, that I had two suspects one at the end of Distorted Love and the other came up my mind during Sinister Love. And YES, I was right about one of my suspects. 🙂 If you don’t guess it by a certain part of the story, it will hit you without you seeing it coming. So enjoy the ride!
“Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. … ” 😉
“Our love is crazy. Stupid Unpredictable. Breathtaking.”
I really loved reading Sinister Love, it had so much from everything: love, thrill, angst, humor, great characters, chemistry. But I loved Distorted Love a little more 😉
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
P.s. PLEASE give Quinn his own book! He deserves it <3
Five soul-consuming stars! Barbie and Ryken’s story deserved an epic end and T. L. Smith has done an excellent work.
Sweet. Lord! T. L. Smith broke my tender heart into million pieces and managed to put them back together with the EPIC conclusion of the Dark Intentions Duet. Sinister Love was everything and more. This book exceeded all my expectations. It was an intense and twisted journey that left me breathless. I devoured this book eagerly!
There is nothing more pleasant that reading a great book and Sinister Love happens to be exceptionally well developed. It has the right amount of intensity, drama, lust, action, forgiveness, twisted redemption and raw and explicit romance.
Barbie and Ryken’s story deserved an epic end and T. L. Smith has done an excellent work with this book. She literally killed me with every chapter. I felt like I was losing my mind. T. L. Smith penned a phenomenal tale full of dark desires, “bad intentions”, tempting passion and sinful lust. In short, she wrote a masterpiece!
Sinister Love is the conclusion of one of the best duets I have the pleasure to read over the year. The plot carries on being addictive since the first book of the duet. It is a refreshing and a unique twisted tale. It touches sensitive topics like white slave traffic, corruption, drugs and dirty business distinctive of the underworld. These issues are typical of today’s society. However, the world has decided to cover it and let the bad guys get away with it. Corruption in high grades is the problem that acts as glue that protects them from the law. Wow! I am feeling quite philosophic while writing this review lol.
Anyway, let’s talk more about what you will find between the pages of this brilliant chef-d’œuvre. Ryken and Barbie were separate because of the bad decisions made by Ryken. From the begging Ryken was told that Barbie was not made for his world. She was too innocent. But something inside him told him that she was meant to be with him. Saskia was forbidden however she was his since the day they met. They are two perfect souls coming together to form a strong couple. That is their future but it won’t be easy to reach it.
It will be an intense journey for Ryken and Saskia. Their story is not a pink tale. Their story is a twisted, lustful tale. They can’t resist being apart because it’s impossible. There is not Ryken without Barbie and there is not Barbie without Ryken. He is a cocky man who always gets want he wants. He is a dark angel with a sinful mouth and sexy body who owns the underworld. He made a mistake and he will pay the penance proudly.
For a man like Ryken, there’s only one woman who can “tame” him: Saskia, aka Barbie. She is extremely strong and complex. She has an innocent air around her. She is a kitten but when someone or something threats her she becomes a wild tigress. She is the softness Ryken craves in his life. Let’s put it simply: Ryken and Barbie is a match made in heaven.
I highly recommend you this book! Start the duet right now! This is a perfect book for readers who love twisted tales with the right amount of dark romance and enemies-to-lovers romance.
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god — this book was absolutely out of this world FANTASTIC. If I thought Distorted Love was amazing, then I don’t know how to describe Sinister Love, because I am still reeling from finishing this magnificent book.
This duet has been by far one of the best I’ve read this year!
I can’t get over how much I had a love/hate relationship with Ryken. He may have had a bit of a villain in his blood, but that man would go over and beyond for the woman he loved and he was not afraid to do so.
Saskia might have been quite a weak link to me, but the poor girl was broken beyond repair and Ryken was her drug. She couldn’t function if he wasn’t near her. Now that’s what you call true love!
You know you’re meant to be when you put your life on the line knowing that his life is dangerous and at any moment someone can come and kill him and you. But you just don’t care because he’s your world just like you’re his. These two were meant to be together since the moment they laid eyes on each other.
I loathed Livia because since the beginning she knew that Ryken had a thing for Saskia and she came in-between them. I get it, she loved him too, but even though Ryken says he loved them both, I knew deep down inside that his love for Livia wasn’t genuine nor real. He just thought he loved her or he wanted to love her because that’s the woman his father chose for him.
But hot damn! This book had me on the edge of my seat. Totally unexpected events took place that had me going “oh wow, I didn’t see that one coming”!
T.L. Smith definitely knows how to write one heck a dark and sinister story!
I absolutely LOVE this series!! I don’t think there will be another character like Ryken. He was everything I wanted him to be.
5 OUTSTANDING STARS!!
Oh my. This book. TL Smith has written something amazing. It sent me spinning around like a top, slowly winding down until I fell over from all the feelz that were getting created. I really felt for Saskia in the last book, and this one just made me love her so much more. She has to put up with so much crap from all sides, but she manages to stand strong through it all, amazingly enough.
Saskia is now owned by the head of a MC for 6 months, unless Ryken manages to get her out first. She’s spent the last several days in a dark room with nothing but a toilet and a sheet on the floor. She hasn’t been fed or given water. She’s weak, she’s covered in bruises, and she’s starting to feel really disconnected. All of a sudden, a man comes into her room, grabs her by her arm, adding to her bruises, drags her off to get showered, shoves her in a dress and takes her to Antonio. She can barely walk, isn’t completely coherent, and has no clue as to what is going on. That’s when she finds out Antonio isn’t the worst thing there. His crazy wife, Amy, is going to be the one who will torment her.
Meanwhile, Ryken is going nuts. He’s trying to find her and is doing everything he can to do that. Livia keeps trying to talk to him, and he doesn’t want to talk to her. He’s totally fixated on Saskia and Livia knows it. When Ryken gets a clue as to where Saskia is, he makes a plan to get her out.
There was one thing that I guessed from the last book that got proved in this book, so yay for me. I kind of expected that particular thing from that particular character because it was totally in that character’s nature. I love getting proved right. However, there was something else that happened that I never ever guessed. And that person’s actions were so destructive to everyone important that it kinds of makes me want to reread both books know that I know what I know and see if I can spot anything that might point to this happening.
I love the little confessional bits that are interspersed throughout the books and how they are anonymous. I changed my mind just about every time that I read one, trying to guess who it was. I really do love to be kept guessing and off-balanced by authors. It gives me something to think about in the middle of the night. All in all, I totally loved this book and where it went. I love following authors to that dark place and coming out the other side. Such a great book.
After Distorted Love left us hanging on the edge of a cliff, wondering what would happen next with Saskia and Ryken, I was so happy to get stuck into Sinister Love.
Ryken will stop at nothing to find Saskia after she is collected for what he done to protect her. He needs her to help him breathe. With the help of Quinn, they manage to locate her, Ryken doesn’t like what he finds and vows to make them pay.
Saskia is made to believe everything that has happened to her is caused by her own actions, that she is broken. That Ryken is bad for her and being with him will only lead to more trouble. That she never be safe while she is with him. Will she stay or run?
There’s a secret to uncover and a sinister force at work trying to prevent these two from being together. Will they be able to figure out who the evil is behind it all before they walk away from each other?
A dangerous love, a shocking secret and a great finish are what make this duet such a fantastic read. I loved every chapter, so much so that I didn’t want it to end. T.L Smith knows how to write a book that keeps a reader turning pages until the very end.
The conclusion after Distorted Love.
From forbidden love to it’s complicated.
I didn’t like Ryken in this story his back and forth between Saskia and Livia annoyed the crap out of me, just pick one bitch.
I actually wished Saskia kicked his ass to the curb but the pull she has towards him makes it difficult.
Dark Intentions #2
Wow! What a conclusion to this duet!
Sinister Love is the climatic end to the story of Saskia and Ryken.
T.L. writes dark and dirty and it’s really, really good! She pulls no punches in the world she created. You can feel the emotions of each of the characters in the story.
Saskia and Ryken’s love is sometimes dark and twisted, but other times it’s beautiful! Their chemistry is off the charts even after years have passed. Even though there are people trying to keep them separated they persevered.
This was a fast paced story with lots of turns and one heck of a big twist at the end!
Be sure to read book one, Distorted Love before you dive into this story!
Thanks for a fantastic duet!
Well got, to be honest, I was dreading this book.
“Distorted Love” Broke me and as much as I wanted to finally conclude the angsty journey I originally started in that Previous volume, I was also shitting bricks that “Sinister Love” was going to finish the job that was started then.
Never have I enjoyed a book so much but totally detested The Male hero (And he was definitely no hero)
And After the antics in the previous volume, I started this with an initial sense of dread and a well lets get this over with attitude, I just needed some closure.
This was, thank god, not as angsty as the first book.
And though Ryken eventually came to his senses and decided where his loyalties lay
I hold a grudge, and I just couldn’t make myself forgive him for what he had previously done.
I found myself, still wanting to stick him with sharp objects in retaliation for his previous selfish and self-serving actions.
I still enjoyed this very much but got to say nothing can, for me, justify a man who plays two women off against each other.
Especially when it’s For his own weirdly obscure reasonings, that makes absolutely no sense to anyone but him.
Just be a man and choose, stop selfishly playing with the lives of others.
it says a lot about me that the collecting of girls and murder was something I can overlook but the emotional and physical betrayal, I’m struggling with here.
So glad this is over I so needed the closure and this was such a bittersweet read.
I was also suitably shocked when the identity of the traitor finally emerges and the reasons why.
Didn’t see that one coming.
So this was a good read that manages to nicely cross the T’s and dot the I’s.
It did a great job of collecting and tying up all the loose ends into a nice tidy package.
I am happy to recommend this duo as a fab read, but be aware it’s an angst-filled ride.
So Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of “Sinister Love” (Dark Intentions #2) of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Forgive me father for I have sinned
Look….Let’s be logical here for a second…..We all know if you ever read anything by T.L. Smith you know you need to prepare yourself. You know without a doubt that you are going to be taken on a dark journey. You know that you’re going to be taken on a ride of mind manipulation….You know this before you even open any of her novels to the first page….
But what the ever loving…..
What did I just read?
Because that was just insane!!
Sinister Love is the second in the Dark Intentions series, so obviously you need to read Distorted Love first to have any sort of understanding with this one. So first things first….Please read Distorted first because you will not be disappointed.
So now back to Sinister Love.
Ryken and Saskia.
How much more can either of them suffer?
Can Saskia hold on?
Can Ryken ever choose?
And the others…
Will Livia win?
What does Quinn want?
What does Antonio have planned?
What will happen to Michael?
Who is Amy?
Can Cane protect?
Who will live?
Who will take their last breath?
And who will suffer at the hands of sinister love?
Guys what can I say that I haven’t already said about T.L. Smith….This woman simply captivated me with her words. Again not once was there any predictability to this novel and it had me second guessing the whole way through. Mind blowing is what it was and I’m still reeling from it.
My heart, boy did it suffer. It almost felt as though my chest was cracked wide open and it was hard to catch my breath with the outpouring of emotion. It literally had me tied up in knots and I couldn’t put it down until I finished.
A pure evil, raw, edgy, devilish and sinister novel that for me was nothing short of perfection.
I absolutely loved it.
5 stars
Distorted Love by T.L. Smith messed with my emotions like no other. I didn’t think it was possible to have so much hate and love for a series, but that’s exactly how I feel about this duology. And Sinister Love… Mannn it was EVERYTHING AND MORE. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better ending.
As excited as I was to read Sinister Love, a part me of didn’t want to find out what was happening to Saskia. I knew I was in for another excruciating emotional ride and my heart was definitely not prepared. But… I was hopelessly addicted and insanely obsessed with Ryken and Saskia’s story and I needed to know what would happen to them. No matter how much ugliness and pain I experience with this book, I was determined to get to the end. And, I’m so damn glad I got the closure I needed. This was such an agonizing but wonderfully affecting story — distorted, sinister, but so real and beautiful in its own way.
Sinister Love was dark, exciting, intoxicating, and satisfyingly amazing! Even when I figured out the main plot twist in the end, I was not expecting T.L. Smith to drop another bombshell. I just love stories that do that. You think you have it all figured out and you’re feeling pretty good… then bam — the author sneaks in one more crazy surprise that you never saw coming. I don’t want to spoil anything about what happened, but I will say this – there was never a dull moment in this book. Everything moved really fast – it was fun, steamy, thrilling, emotional, and sad. I don’t think I’m ever going to be completely comfortable with the love story and it’s far from the usual light hearted romance I’m used to, but as I’ve said, there was something so real and beautiful about this series that had me ridiculously hooked from the very beginning. SO FREAKING GOOD!!!
Love is different for everyone. It’s complicated, always changing and sometimes ugly. What works for some may not be the case for others. Sinister Love was a wonderful bittersweet ending to an intense and twisted love story. T.L. Smith’s writing is incredibly affecting and so real that I am officially a fan and will definitely be checking out her other books. This series may not be for everyone, but if you dare to read outside your comfort zone then add this to your TBR. You might just be surprised and end up falling in love just like I did.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from Enticing Book Promotions in exchange for a fair and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5 DARK BEAUTIFUL STARS!! When you love someone so much and you know it is wrong, but you do it anyways. Well this is Saskia and Ryken’s beautiful twisted love story. Their story is so dark and twisted with a little bit of light and love in it you are hooked. T.L. Smith, takes us on one crazy ride in the ending of the Dark Intentions Duet, that you never want it to end. I absolutely loved this story and I know you will too. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Ryken wants me, and no one’s going to stop him from getting me. Even me.
Hold up! Who did what now?! So many betrayals and all in the name of love. T.L. Smith continues the dark rollercoaster that is Ryken and Saskia in Sinister Love. The more I read the more I felt a part of this underground world. I may be crazy but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Dangerous criminals and crazy Bs made this one wild ride that I wanted to go on forever.
I’ve been collected. And the man who collected me is also one of the most dangerous criminals in the world.
The end of book one saw Saskia being collected as payment from Ryken to a dangerous man. All of the deceit and jealously that seems to pour off of almost everyone that surrounds the two is immensely intense and devastating. What it all comes down to in the end is if their love is strong enough to survive while simultaneously conquering and controlling the Underworld.
I love two women, but one more than the other. One has been there through it all when she should have walked away from the start. I owe her.
Bloody, violent and dark. That is this book, that is this story. I am so glad that I finally got my hands on this amazing conclusion. These characters, even the ones I really didn’t like (really Smith you named her Amy?!?!) all got their claws in me. I still loathe Livia, though she is a bit more tolerable after reading the end, but as mentioned there is a new B in town who happens to share my name and she makes Livia seem like an angel. I wish there had been more scenes with Robert, though that wasn’t possible, but Smith made up for that by giving me a lot more Quinn. Not as much as I would like, I need an entire book devoted to this bad boy, or a duet I’m not picky.
That’s the problem with Ryken Lord… he likes to make you overdose on him.
This quote doesn’t just sum up Saskia’s feelings toward Ryken, but mine too. Okay, maybe I just get a contact high from their love, but they have the kind of true love that readers read romance for. I’ll take the buzz their story sparked and use it to sate my addictive need for Quinn. Seriously though, can he have his own dark and twisted love story? Pretty please?
5 Sinister Stars!
*Review by Amy W., Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night w/ Books Blog*
4 “Barbie”stars
After the angst ridden book 1, I thought Saskia would emerge stronger in book 2 at least. Since she does know Ryken is also two timing with Livia. The constant push and pull made me queasy and frankly I was really frustrated with Saskia.
The book starts with a dark chapter, Saskia is scared, locked up and no idea why. As the story progresses “Lord Ryken” managers to play both girls against each other and I wanted Sas to kick him out of her life . But she’s love lorn so “The heart wants what the heart wants”
“He was a drug I couldn’t kick. I’d overdosed on him before. It didn’t turn out well. I was stupid enough to let him crack my heart, in hopes we would fall off the same cliff together. No matter how much my idiotic heart wanted to love him, my head knew better. He didn’t choose me. He chose her. That’s where the problem started. Maybe that’s how it should end.”
The twist was sudden , expected but not entirely unwarranted. I had an inkling who was perpetrating behind the scenes.
All in all a fast paced story, concludes befittingly
This was everything I wanted and more and let’s be clear for me there is never enough Ryken and Saskia.
The ending of book one left me in a puddle of my own misery, I know why he did it but I hated him really really hated him. Then we find out what she goes through all because of that selfish bitch and yeah I hated her even more.
In this one secrets are uncovered and loyalties are tested, I tried to read between the lines to uncover the confessor but I was wrong. So many secrets revealed but how will they impact on their relationship.
I loved reading about Saskia, for me her strength has never been in question and we see it this time. Not only with everything she endures but how she deals with Ryken. Some might call their love dysfunctional but it’s a strong and all consuming love.
I’m sorry the duet is finished because I loved this couple so much.
This final instalment of the Dark Intentions Duet hits the ground running at the blistering pace we left it in Distorted Love, Saskia is indeed in a dark place and it is up to Ryken to make amends and finally see what his destiny truly is.
But this doesn’t happen without more of TL Smith’s signatory gut wrenching angst, brutal violence and twisted suspense.
Tearing apart the love triangle between Ryken, Saskia and Livia is a messy business, and TL thrives on messy so its sure to please, but in saying so although I felt Livia’s surrender worthy, the reconnect between Ryken and Saskia was a little too easy and I would love to have seen it fleshed out a little, so yeah, I wanted them to suffer a bit more pain that I’ve come to expect from with this author.
In saying that I enjoyed this book and it didn’t ruin the overall impact and angst, and there is plenty of that in addition to the smouldering heat between these two.
I love a good twist and although I saw it coming well before the reveal, the exposure of the traitor and our confessor gave a great kick to the completeness of this story.
Well worth the read and a strong conclusion to this exquisite darkness from TL Smith.
This entire read was a sh$t storm. I mean it was awesome don’t get me wrong but for all the wrong reasons. I mean come on I don’t know where to start and this is why I love and hate this book. The story is awesome let me say that again but the characters and their dark, outrageous, toxic, passionate (I mean hot as hell chemistry), was crazy of the charts. This author plays you like a fiddle and leads you to some ugly places to tell this story.
I mean there is a story and then there’s a twist or four and then there’s the confessions and the answer to that! And let’s not talk about the elephant in the room, HE COLLECTS WOMEN AND SELLS THEM!!! HELLO!?!?! No matter how super duper he is the man’s garbage!! Stay AWAY!! I want to feel bad for Barbie I really do but I just can’t find it in me. I do have to say that girl really does put on her big girl panties and gets some gumption which is a beautiful thing. There isn’t as much angst in this part of the story and it does take over right where we left off.
I gotta say this book got to me. Heck I guess you can tell and therefore it’s high on my list of books that need to be shared. Whenever a book causes this kind of reaction it means it’s worth all the angst and curses, and almost throwing my kindle, and deep recovering breathes.
Sinister Love picks up where the last book finished so you will need to read that first.
Even before I started this I was seething with anger towards Ryken. After the way Distorted Love ended I honestly couldn’t see a way for him to redeem himself. I re read the last few chapters of the last book before starting Sinister Love and I’ve got to be honest about my feelings, I really really wanted to hurt Ryken.
My heart broke for Saskia. She’s an extremely likeable character and doesn’t deserve the way her life is going, I really felt sorry for her. She keeps finding herself in these situations that are out of her control and she really is just trying to survive. Which brings me to Ryken Lord. The man that is both everything I love and hate in a man. The amount of anger I felt towards him was unreal at the start of this book. Slowly he did start to win me back over, he did try to right his wrongs and he did try to keep Saskia safe. He may have failed but he did try. Of course that leads me to some conflicting feelings on what I think of him. He’s dragged me through such a wide range of emotions that I’m struggling to let go of both him and Saskia.
This duet is amazing. It’s twisty, full of betrayal, danger and a love that isn’t going to let either party walk away. I found these books really hard to put down and I’ll definitely be doing a re read at some point.
I couldn’t wait until Sinister Love came out. I LOVE this book! Sinister Love is the 2nd book in the Dark Intentions Duet. If you want to read this book you need to start with Book 1 Distorted Love first! If you love dark books to read then you must read this series. I was glued to my book from start to the end. I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen.
Even though Ryken Lord is not a nice guy. He ended up following his father’s footsteps when his father dies it leaves Ryken a mob boss. And, everyone wants to be him. So, get in line with who wants to kill him. And, he goes after his woman, Saskia. Of course, Saskia would never have been in the danger she is in if it weren’t for Ryken.
Sinister Love is set at a fast pace, with twists and turns, it’s a page turner, sexy romance.
I love, love, love it. 5 + Stars all the way.
Sinister Live is book 2 in the Dark Intentions Duet. My heart was in my throat for 90% of this and I was on the edge of my seat as well. With darknesses can true love prevail? Ryken and Saskia’s story continues with more twists and turns but in the end it’s worth it, or is it? The people in our life that we think have our best intentions at heart are set to hurt us in the end. If you can stand to bite your fingernails to the quick this is the book for you. TL Smith you have done it again this book is definitely a 10 Star read.
