Stine is the world’s bestselling horror writer for children, but this is his first novel for adults. Liam is a bachelor professor of folklore and he’s incurably superstitious. When people start getting murdered, it seems that Liam’s demons are real.
This is an adult book by R L Stine. Now I know why my youngest son was so enamored by the Goosebumps series. Mr. Stine is a good writer. There were several places where I hated to put the book down.

What’s not to like about this book. It had me on the edge of the page reading I didn’t want to put it down til I finished reading it. It was scary, action packed, witty and everything you could think of. Not for the kids to read this is an adult novel brilliantly laid out.

R.L. Stine’s first book for adults! Even though I’m more than 40 years old, I still love reading his scary books for kids and teens, although I think I’m hoping to stick mostly with the stuff he wrote in the 90s, which is when I first started reading him. While I think his books for kids are scary enough, I certainly find his books for teenagers much scarier, like the Fear Street books. Some of those, such as The Secret Bedroom and The Stepsister, I find VERY scary. Especially because some of those books feature characters dying and falling victim to very gruesome deaths, such as being decapitated. Still, if that sounds grisly to you for a YA horror story, wait till you read his first book for adults, Superstitious! Who knew R.L. Stine could travel through the same creepy territory as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Peter Straub, and Clive Barker and be just as frightening?? If you like horror, mystery, suspense, romance, and the supernatural all neatly packaged together in one terrifying book, this fright fest is for you! Is handsome, charming, superstitious college professor Liam O’Connor behind the monstrous murders plaguing the campus—and the surrounding city? Or is it someone else?? Or maybe someTHING else?? Find out for yourself in horror maestro R.L. Stine’s nerve-shattering adult horror debut! But don’t forget to check over your shoulder as you read!
Outstanding, one of Stien’s finest works.
