This world just gets better & better, it was super fun having Reagan back in the story. This was definitely about Penny though. Great suspense, scary nail biting battle and then the snarky humor, leaves you wanting the next book already.

A fast pacing narrative that reflects all the process of Penny’s efforts to be part of the magical world, pairing her with the most unpredictable characters. The author salutes us with the return of one of most enchanting character- Reagan, who definetely is responsible for great part of fun, and introduces a new mysterious one. Let’s see what this mixture will lead us to.

Holly torpedo I was transported back into Penny’s world as if I had never left. So much action, magic and hi-jinx. Very descriptive and literally transports you into the action. I have so much to say but I will keep my lips sealed to not spoil it for you. I will say that it is a must read and am really looking forward to the next book to come out to find out what will happen next.

“Natural Mage” is the second book in the Magic Mayhem trilogy set in KF Breene’s DDVN world. It’s the continuation of Penny’s story, but we also get to reconnect with a certain female lead from the Fire & Ice trilogy. When these 2 ladies meet, sparks fly right out the pages. I don’t want to give any spoilers, so I just say that in “Natural Mage”, Penny gets to explore and learn her abilities with the help of Reagan’s lead. Penny’s journey is anything but smooth. Her lessons often result in dangerous, explosive, but also hilarious disasters. (A little side note to fans of Breene’s Darkness series: you’ll love it, it’ll remind you a lot of Sasha and her intuitive, rather than intellectual approach to learning her trade.) I promise you, you’ll end up laughing over the accidents and awkward situations that these characters have to go through. All the exercises in honing Penny’s mage skills lead to an epic showdown in the end. Somehow I felt that Reagan stole the show here. I would have loved for Penny to be a pivotal factor in the final battle. But maybe she’ll have her turn in the third book. I definitely found myself rooting for this lovely, little, powerful lady. Throughout the book, Penny’s personality grew even more on me – she’s a fabulous mix of toughness and softness, of naivete and wisdom beyond her age. I’m already looking forward to reading the next installment!

My Rating:
I highly recommend this 3-star paranormal fantasy novel taking place in the Demon Days, Vampire Nights World . Book 2 of the Magical Mayhem Trilogy., “Natural Mage”, primarily features the continuing adventures of Penelope Bristol as our “becoming more powerful” natural mage and Emery Westbrook, a natural mage.
Highly recommend? Yes! Just because I’m not gushing over it (3-stars) doesn’t mean it was lacking.
If you’ve skipped the “Fire and Ice Trilogy” and “(Magical Mayhem 1) Natural Witch” the rest of this review may sound like ancient Sumerian to you. Of course, you can read this book. I imagine the lack of foundational knowledge would act as a black hole in your mind, making the story baffling.
Generally: (Possible spoilers).
In “The Natural Witch” (previous novel) the “Seattle” mage’s guild, an organization quite corrupt, was primarily after Emery or alerted to Emery’s anger at the guild, so they were determined to capture him and use him for their own purposes, or destroy him. In the process of this vendetta, Penny Bristol is “discovered” and then she becomes a target as well.
Now, in Natural Mage, Penny is in New Orleans, home town to the previous Demon Days & Vampire Nights trilogy co-protagonists, Reagan & Darius. Penny is training under the powerful and familiar dual mages, Callie and Dizzie, that she met early in the previous novel.
Emery has left Penny, in his mind, to protect her. All the while they are separated, both are pining over each other.

Another stupendous read by K.F. Breene in this follow up to the Natural Witch in the Magical Mayhem series!!
Penny has been left in the capable hands of Callie & Dizzy, a dual pair of mages, trying to train Penny the way they have been taught. But things don’t go too well, their type of training doesn’t seem right for Penny, since Emery left she has never found that perfect balance again, so Darius steps in and decides he will train her, by putting her in very real danger from newbie vampires and leaving her to defend herself!! A massive magical fight, fireworks, lots and lots of panic and running by Penny thus ensues. Penny ends up engaging an ancient vampire after she is roused from her rest by Penny’s magic, she is so formidable that Darius and the rest of his vampire clan have to step in and defend Penny, with many casualties on their side!
So Penny ends up training and living with Reagan, fighting and learning to use her magic against Reagan’s unique abilities. Emery returns on the scene after a premonition of Penny being hurt, and can’t stay away, even though he feels he is not good enough for her. But as soon as he arrives, Penny’s and Emery’s magic combine and balance themselves out completely again, blissfully in harmony. They end up training together as the Mages are moving en-mass in an attempt to get to the Natural pair. Reagan, Emery and Penny end up pulling together fighting for their life in a massive battle against the Mages Guild.
A brilliant read, full of magic, mayhem and laugh out loud moments. This book has that perfect blend of everything, with its characters from her Fire and Ice Trilogy, it really does make an utterly compelling reading. Fantastic main characters, vampires, shifters, witches and mages with a side order of beautiful chemistry and sass in abundance, its an epic fantasy PNR read that I just couldn’t put down – I can’t wait for the final book in this series.
A wonderful 5 star read, one I can’t recommend highly enough.

K.F. is one of my go to authors so when I found out the pre-order was up for Natural Mage I immediately one clicked! As usual she did not disappoint! She just keeps getting better and so does the series!!!
Penny started off as such a timid character and I did not think I was going to grow to love her as I have. Watching her come in to her own in everything life has to offer has been such an action packed fun ride!
Once everyone finally comes to grip with the fact that Penny is unique in not just her magic but her personality the action starts full force. Penny is unpredictable, untrained and learns by trial and error. Once you throw Reagan in to the mix, hold on, it becomes a bumpy ride filled with laughs, great banter, hijinks, and raw power & magic. Their combination is the best of everything all in one book!
All my favorite characters add to the mix increasing the laughs, action and in the case of Emery all of that and a bond of strength love and added power. There are a few new characters, too some instantly connect to Penny, saving her life and promise to make the next installment even more intriguing because I know that more kick butt badness, magical mayhem and quick wit zingers on the horizon.
You may want to set aside time to read this in a private place because if you are anything like me you will laugh aloud, scream in horror, yell at the characters to run or unleash depending on the situation and you will not want to put this down until the end!!!

This is the 2nd book of Magical Mayhem Trilogy, which is the 2nd Trilogy in Breene’s DDVN (Demon Days & Vampire Nights) World (the 1st being Fire and Ice Trilogy). It’s better than the 1st book and I love that book. I couldn’t put this book down even at 2 in the morning.
Natural Mage picks up a few months after Natural Witch ended and Penny is staying with the Bankses (Callie & Dizzy) trying to learn more about being a Mage. Like most things with poor Penny they are not going so great. However Penny isn’t like a normal Mage and struggles with Callie’s way of teaching. So after an exercise with a newly turned vampire Darius decides to take over finding Penny a more suitable trainer. Then after a deadly dinner at Darius’ French Quarter home it is decided that Reagan will take over training Penny.
This is where the fun comes in. I love Reagan. (You can read her story in the Fire & Ice Trilogy) With Reagan & Penny now paired up Penny gets better with her magic and learns how to physically fight without magic. The back in forth between Reagan and Penny throughout this book had me laughing so hard my sides hurt. My Favorite banter between the two is when Reagan asks:
“ ”Want to be my Best friend?”
“No.”
“You’ll change your mind. I’m really fun.”
“No.” “
I don’t want to give any spoilers in this review but the major players from the 1st book are in the 2nd book. Secrets are revealed, love blossoms, an elder is awoken and the battle is just getting started. I Highly Recommend Reading this book and all of Breene’s writing, I’ll be reading it over and over and over until the final book comes out. Thank you K.F. Breene for writing such a great set of books and I don’t blame you at all for my sleepless nights.

I absolutely loved this book. In this second installment of the Magical Mayhem series Penny is in need of training as well as protection. She is a unique magical powerhouse who is not able to be trained the standard way. So who better to help than Reagan? My favorite snarky bad ass from the Fire and Ice trilogy. Where we first met Penny. This team up is pure genius! The extreme opposite personalities make for some truly hilarious and great entertainment. This has become my favorite K.F. Breene book. So much action and so much fun! I eagerly await the next installment. I fervently pray that won’t be the last we hear from Penny and Reagan.

I plan to re-read this book in the very near future!

My Mind is blown!!!
Edgy, Snarky, Eye Opening & Full Of Girl Power.
Natural Mage (Demon Days, Vampire Nights World Book 5)
‘Natural Witch’ was amazing so you adjust your expectations for the 2nd book as it can’t possibly live up to what came before right? Wrong, as K.F Breene clearly tore up that rule book & produced an absolute pleasure of a read in ‘Natural Mage’, its just Brilliant!!!
Penny, our now confirmed ‘Natural Mage’, is training in New Orleans with Cassie & Dizzy, a Dual-Mage couple. She had met them previously when Reagan had taken her out of her hidey-hole closet after Penny had accidentally made zombie witches.
As the months have passed it becomes clear that the ‘normal’ way of teaching a Mage isn’t working for our girl. The only time she’s ever felt normal was with Emery, but he walked away 6 months ago!! Darius has to step in, after a mishap with a newborn Vampire, and invites Penny to dinner to reveal his plan. Fireworks, blind panic & death ensues …. Yeah, like I said Brilliant!!
Reagan & Penny combine to become training partners after the ‘Dinner of Doom’!! The Vampire’s need to heal & regroup. Powers need to resettle & Darius definitely needs to rethink his plans!! It’s clear, thanks to Red’s spying, that Mages are gathering in the Quarter, they’re looking for Penny. The safest place for her is at Reagan’s, believe it or not!! Best news of all, Emery has been making his way back to her, Finally
Throughout this book Penny is learning to trust her true allies-friends/family & ultimately herself!! Her biggest breakthrough comes by accident in a cemetery, the experience reminds her of how she should feel using magic This book sees the rise of the Natural Mage Penny is to become, she is a powerhouse that uses magic like no one else!!
Penny’s Mum, we learn her first name this time , has quite a small part in this book but her role is large, she is no less formidable than before, she even shuts Reagan up It’s hilarious
This book focuses on Penny as she grows as an individual within the wider world & a Mage within the magical one. She is constantly playing catch up but she thankfully learns fast!! Her relationship with Reagan is clunky at first but soon becomes the smoothest, sibling-like friendship we’ve seen either of them have, They are hilarious together!!
A truly brilliant, snark-fest of magical mayhem. Sassy girls with power to spare with their men at their backs, friends & family at their sides & danger all around. You can not go wrong with this book, well unless you don’t read it, that would be SO wrong!!
Hilarious, Pulse Pounding, Steamy, Scary & a Shockingly fun read!! You must read this series, it’s such a class act
