I hadn’t read an L.A. Fiore book in quite a while, and this blurb immediately grabbed my attention.
Sexy broody hero
Two lost, broken souls
Mysterious castle
Has a Beauty and the Beast type retelling
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters of Brochan and Lizzie. They both have similar pasts. Lizzie tries to overcome her past, while Brochan still seems to wallow in his.
Brochan and Lizzie were explosive as a couple. Their sex scenes were hot. He definitely likes his control.
I would recommend this book if you want two lost souls finding love.
Excellent!!!
I will admit there were times while listening to this book that I thought “Wow, I’m so glad she (Elizabeth) didn’t do something cliche right there.” It was a nice change of pace for a book to have to profoundly broken people, but yet show them through two different sets of eyes. Their outlook on life was so vastly different – one jaded and hollow, the seeing the beauty in the darkness, amongst the ruin. Together they were more. I loved the message of being more than family, better than the one aspect and how important it is to break the cycle. The performance were very good, especially trying to pull off a Scottish brogue. I thought it was successful. Overall, definitely recommending this listen
Holy crap. This is such a heartbreaking story of loss, neglect, tragedy, hope, friendship, and finally, love and total acceptance.
Brochan was raised as no child should be raised. And although he had a couple of protectors they only had so much they could do. Brochan becomes a man that rights wrongs the only way he knows how but in the process doesn’t let anyone come close to him other than the ones he already had since childhood.
Lizzie had the opposite of a childhood. Total neglect of both parents and bullying of other children from boarding school has made her a loner and strong. So when an opportunity comes to her to go to Scottland and learn of a family she had no idea she had. While she is there she meets Brochan.
This is a beautifully written book that I could not put down. I loved it. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review. Saying that read this book! #MustRead #OneClick
I absolutely love L.A. Fiore I’d sell my soul just to keep reading more of her books! So this, of course, I had high expectations and L.A. Fiore did not let me down, her writing and world and characters were absolutely fantastic and I fell in love within the first pages of this story!
It was such a gripping story, once I started it, I didn’t want to do anything else I just wanted to read this story! I loved how we got povs from Lizzie and Brochan and the insights to both of these characters. I also liked how we got snippets of the important things in their past!
Brochan aww this poor man, I felt so sorry for him and what he had to endure from his father, from the writing it was like you could physically feel the pain and torment that he must have felt. The sad thing is everything that his father said about him he thought was true. Brochan was a different kind of character he’s not so much a hero but more an anti-hero in the sense that his job isn’t exactly legal and he does take joy in doing it. But regardless of that, I loved Brochan he was such an amazing character so complex.
Lizzie, aww poor her, although she had a different upbringing to Brochan but still slightly terrible her mother didn’t want her and only used her to trap her father but it didn’t work, out of the parents in this story the only redeeming one is Lizzie’s dad! I loved how Lizzie began painting and how art was talked about in this book was amazing and how so many people could feel things from her artwork. It was part of her salvation and I loved that part of this story.
Brochan and Lizzie although he fought to keep her out of his heart and life and the way they both let each other in is so cute and adorable, also how they share their pain of the failure of their parents. Family was such a big thing for both of these characters when Lizzie came to Scotland after her Aunt Brianna died it helped her connect with that side and understand that her mother was just a bad egg. Lizzie does the same for Brochan and begins searching through his mother’s side of the family trying to show him that they weren’t like his father. I loved the fact family was such a big theme through this! The way they both overcome their pasts when it comes to the things they had to endure it was so sweet and it made my heart melt. They both had to endure so much loss so when they found each other it was just adorable and made me cry and gave me all the emotions.
I also loved the fact Lizzie was not bothered about his very much illegal job of being a hitman of sorts it also makes me laugh how so many people know including a police officer know about it. When he says he gives it up for Lizzie and his growing family, the way they react was just funny.
I loved the side characters in this story! Brianna, Cait, Fenella, Finnegan, Mac and his wife, I loved them all, the way they supported the main characters and yet, for the most part, they made a very important impact on the story as a whole. They all had their own stories and was very real. I could totally read stories about all the side characters too! L.A. Fiore does this to me, she makes me care about every one of her characters (obviously not the baddies) but yeah.
I know of a quote that fits this story to the tee as well as L.A. Fiore as a writer and as I was reading this story it came straight into my head.
You create with your heart.
Savage was NOT was I was expecting. This book was mysterious, romantics and full of adventure. I LOVED the setting. I loved the castle and the mystery that went behind the man. This book will have you glued from the beginning. I love it from start to finish!
Savage: The Awakening of Lizzie Danton is a dark contemporary romance written by L.A. Fiore. You will get addicted to this after the first chapter.
My heart broke in the beginning with Brochan and Lizzie’s childhoods. I have never been able to understand why parents would do crazy and unspeakable things to a child that they are supposed to protect. Brochan and Lizzie romance was a slow burn. But once it got started, I basically fell in love with Brochan right along with Lizzie. He may have had a bad reputation around this Scotland town but he is such a sweetheart in private. Throughout this story, you were thrown one twist after another. I loved every twist, each one was better than the last.
L.A. Fiore writing has me wanting to take a trip to Scotland, so I can see all the landscapes and towns that were perfectly described in this book. Out of all the books I have read by this author, this one had me feeling every emotion. I highly recommend this book to every book-lover who enjoys a good modern day fairytale.
***5 ‘Be The Voice In The Dark’ Stars***
This book hooked me from the first page, shoved me down the rabbit hole and made it so I didn’t want to claw my way out and instead wanted to stay in there all nice and cozy like. I loved the slow burn, Beauty and the Beast inspired journey Lizzie and Brochan went on, even the parts that I desperately wanted to faster, and loved getting to know not only them but those who mattered the most in their world. I must admit I was a little pissed when those two words, The End, showed up because I needed more words. I didn’t want to leave Lizzie and Brochan, I wanted more time with them and those they called family.
I pretty much fell in love with both Brochan and Lizzie from the first time we met and that feeling grew into adoration before I was a quarter of the way done with the book. Their childhoods left a lot to be desired, and my heart hurt for them, but it was interesting to see the paths they chose to walk because of it. There were similarities and yet they both looked at life in very different ways. But what they both had in common was seeing the gray area and working with it as well as looking out for those they called their own.
Brochan and Lizzie’s journey to their HEA may just be one of my favorites by Ms. Fiore. It is a definite slow building one, but so much goodness happens while they work out and through their own
demons and come to accept that there is something more than just physical attraction between them…and there is A LOT that they have in common. Their interactions had me grinning and even when I wasn’t, because there are THOSE moments too, I knew that they simply belonged together. When the smexy does hit, it’s intense, but it’s because of all the time they’ve spent together. A pothole does waylay them on their journey to their HEA, but I loved how it all worked out and the surprises that came because of it.
Savage may just be my favorite (so far) of all the books I’ve read by Ms. Fiore. I haven’t read them all and I know more are coming, but this one just worked for me. Part of it is the fact that the romance has a Beauty and the Beast feel to it, which is my favorite trope, and how she made it her own. The secondary cast of characters were very well written. I fell in love with the good ones and wanted to gut the baddies with a spoon, but they were all interesting. And then there are the little plot twists and turns throughout the story that kept me on my toes and even had me doing the whole “Whoa! WTF?!?!” when they happened. Some connections I figured out, but there were others that I never saw coming. There are triggers so be prepared and the pacing got a little slow for me towards the end, but I understood why and in the end it was all worth it. So, if you’re like the Beauty and the Beast trope and love well developed characters that you can’t get enough of, then this is a definite must read for you!

“Going down the path I felt myself being pulled toward was one I unequivocally knew there would be no coming back from. However it played out, Lizzie Danton would never again be the same.”
A delicious slow burn in a magical fairy tale setting, with two broken people fated to heal each other. A rebirth of damaged souls, each mending the cracks and easing the scars that life inflicted. Deeply moving, breathtaking, emotional, romantic, and darkly addictive. Whimsical, vividly told, not to mention when the slow burn implodes….it is nothing short of explosive! This book blew me away, so I probably won’t be able to do it justice, but it was an utterly gorgeous story!! The way the story was woven together was nothing short of genius, and I felt so much while reading. Beautifully done!
“I was a monster. For the first time in my life, it didn’t claw to get out and that was because of her.”

WOW!!! What an amazing journey L.A. Fiore has given us in this book. I say journey because this story was so much more than just a love story. It was a story about two people who went through some really horrible stuff but in the end still come out on the lighter side of the darkness.
I don’t want to say too much about this storyline because this is a book that needs to unfold itself for every reader. Just know this book is slightly dark, raw and gritty, but it did have it’s lighthearted times and definitely its romance and sexy times. This book truly had it all. As a reader I found myself laughing at times, crying, yelling, sitting on the edge of my seat and even swooning at times. I loved all the emotions this book brought out of me. This is definitely one of my favorite reads this year!!!
“Even in the ugly there is beauty.”
That quote stood out to me while I was reading this story. Because it is so true!!! You’ll understand this better after reading Brochan and Lizzie’s story. Be warned some of the material in this book is kind of hard to read, but I loved that Ms. Fiore didn’t get to overly graphic in this book. What she was able to do was make me feel everything Lizzie and Brochan felt. My heart broke so many times for these two characters.
Brochan is a loner who grew up and lives in a castle in Scotland. Lizzie is also a loner who is an artist who lives in New York City. But some small twist of fate….Lizzie goes to Scotland, only to have her life changed forever. Brochan is kind of dark and consider a Monster by the towns people, but not to Lizzie. She actually sees him for who he really is down deep. Can Brochan and Lizzie be each others savior?? Can these two find a HEA?? Read this book to find out.
The writing of this story was perfection. I loved all the details L.A.Fiore put into her descriptions of Scotland. She made me feel like I was actually there and could totally picture all of the scenery. The flow and pace of the story was perfect as well. We are given just enough information without it dragging the story out, but helped us with the connection to the characters. I also loved that she added an suspenseful aspect to the story….it kept me turning the pages so fast that I didn’t want to put the book down. She kept throwing new surprises at me when I least expected them. So GOOD!!!!!
What I love the most about a L.A Fiore book is just how unique and different they are from all other books I have read or even from her previous books. I am always in awe of how she can come up with some of these stories. Truly a brilliant literary mind!!!
I would recommend you read any and all of L.A. Fiore’s books, but if she is new to you then starting with Savage is a great place to start. It is a standalone novel told in Dual POV. It is a complete story with NO Cliffhanger. It is the perfect introduction to this authors writing. And if you have read her books before then you know how AMAZING this book is and you don’t want to miss reading it!!!!
Such a great dark love story. My favorite! Powerful, emotional, suspenseful story about two damaged people finding a way to connect. The writing was beautiful and had me hooked from beginning to end. The Scotland setting was perfect backdrop for this story! On my ‘read again’ list.
I really, really enjoyed this book. It had so many great elements that make it just perfect. There is of course love, mystery, action, angst and well a bit of everything really. I definitely recommend this book and this author.
Lizzie and Brochan have a lot in common in the childhood department, but they don’t know each other (yet) and live in different countries.
Lizzie’s mother is some kind of monster.
Brochan’s father too.
Now Lizzie is an artist in New York, while Brochan lives a lonely life in a big castle in Scotland, between his very peculiar “missions”.
Fate is about to reunite them in his country, in a town surrounded by legends… and gossips…
Brochan has quite the bad reputation, some may say he’s a kind of wolf, a monster…
But Llizzie knows a thing or two about real monsters; besides, she also likes to make her own opinion about people too…
And she can’t help but feel intrigued by this cold man…
SAVAGE is my third book from L.A. Fiore.
Devil You Know and Elusive had already proven she is an amazing author, and this book was absolutely delicious and additive!
Exactly: delicious and addictive.
A captivating plot, strong and deep characters, a country full of mysteries and legends. So many secrets, and as always with L.A. Fiore’s books: love and compassion, despite all the cruelty and ugliness.
Lizzie and Brochan were both unwanted children.
Lizzie was a way to get what her mother wanted from her biological father, and Brochan’s father saw his son as the killer of his wife.
Both suffered from the cruelty of the person who was supposed to love and protect them the most.
And each one dealt with this in a very different way.
I just loved the way they were built for each other, the heroine is fragile in some ways but also so strong, so honest with her feelings and so loyal
And Brochan is the perfect tormented hero, with, of course, all this alpha attitude, especially towards Lizzie.
In this book you will find so many disarming lines and dialogues. Really, it’s delicious to read.
Touching characters (main and supporting ones), a broken hero, a brave heroine, sizzling chemistry, heartbreaking moments, perfect love scenes, NEVER falling into clichés.
The writing is always perfect.
And when you see yourself struggling when it’s time to close the book and leave the characters, it means the author did an amazing job.
So Savage was my third L.A. Fiore’s book, and I can’t wait for her next work.
