Taming a Rake into a Lord
Christopher Masters is a first class rake. Having retired as a spy, he thinks he may spend the next year or two gambling and drinking as a way to forget the horrors of his past. Quite suddenly, he is thrown into a new role entirely when he inherits the title and properties of the Earl of Rothenberg. He has no desire for such a role but even more distressing is the ward that accompanies the estate.A clause in the will states she must marr within a year of the old Earl’s death, if not then Chris doesn’t inherit the earldom. Lady Elizabeth Wright knows that her future is uncertain. Having cared for her father these past months, she is less than a wallflower.
This is the fourth book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own it does feature Barrett & Alex from earlier books. Chris also made appearances in some of the earlier books too & I’m glad he got his HEA. Chris & Lizzie are immediately attracted to each other but he thinks he’s unworthy of her. It takes interference from his best friends to make him realise how he feels. A well paced long novella that I read in an afternoon.
Taming a Savage Gentleman
Tom Maddox would never marry. He’s the second son, the spare, and he prides himself on living his life without the confines of society. Lady Flora Ellington, Baroness Segrave needs a husband for society’s sake but she’d prefer he have no opinion at all. Which is why the Earl of Loudoun seems the ideal choice. With no fortune and a drinking habit, he should allow her to keep running her estate while living off the allowance she’d give him. But Loudoun proves to be both drunk and foolish. Flora & her mother are travelling to meet the Earl of Loudoun’s family & travelling on a Maddox ship. There Flora meets first mate Tom Maddox & their attraction is immediate. It doesn’t take Flora long to realise that she can’t marry Lucius but could well marry someone like Tom. Tom thinks of himself as the spare & having no use. The story is well paced with lots of adventures on the short journey, the characters are well portrayed. I liked both Tom who I’d me in a previous book & Flora was very likeable too. Their attraction developed into love very quickly but they also liked each other. I read this delightful story in two sittings. It could well be read as a standalone book.
Taming a Rogue Earl
Lord Lucius Loudoun was a drunk but six years later & he’s running Barrett Maddox’s American businesses & he hasn’t touched a drop of booze in all that time.
May Stanly has loved Loudoun since she was a child, but he looks straight through her, still treating her like she’s a girl of thirteen instead of a woman of twenty. I thoroughly disliked Lucius in the previous book & wondered if he could redeem himself. I needn’t have feared, he’s a changed man, he now works hard & enjoys it. I liked May as a young girl & continued to like her as a young woman. This was a lovely read which I read in a sitting.
I thoroughly enjoyed this boxset especially as I could binge read the whole series in one go – I read the first three books immediately prior to reading these. Overall a delightful series that I’m sure I’ll come back to again in the future
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
All three of these books are amazing! 5 stars all they way around!
Taming a Rake into a Lord
I adored this story! Chris and Lizzie have such strong chemistry, and it shows on every page. I love the characters and the writing is witty and fun and just all around fantastic! I just couldn’t get enough of this story!
Taming a Savage Gentleman
There is so much that I like about this particular story, it is exciting, fast paced and flows nicely. The storyline was wonderful and sucked me in! I loved the characters, but I especially loved Tom! He is so protective and just the right amount of everything. I really liked what happened at the end with Loudoun, it was great seeing that he is not beyond redemption.
Taming a Rogue Earl
What a powerful story! I didn’t think I would grow to love Loudoun so much but I like him the best. May is a little hellion and kept him on his toes, they were perfect for eachother. The story was predictable in places but it was so well written and there was so much emotion, it didn’t take away from the story at all. This is one story I could read again and again.
