“What we’ve got in mind and what the good Lord’s got planned don’t always agree, but that’s what makes life interesting. Sometimes it’s a collision course. Other times it’s a wide, beautiful curve.” ~page 43
Thus begins the Shepherd’s Crossing series by Ruth Logan Herne! Life certainly throws curves at Lizzie and she must learn to make the best of it. Even when facing Heath, her long ago sweetheart. Throw in a cute kid, a few horses, a wise life-long female mentor named Corrie, a chance to start over, and you have the classic Herne infused story to pull you in. What I love best are her strong characters, especially the women. When life starts down a different direction, they aren’t afraid of rolling up their sleeves and making the best out of what’s thrown at them. Lizzie is one such character; she faces the past with the man she scorned years ago. She does it with grace and her chin held high, and maybe a little bit of stubbornness! Heath’s five-year-old son, Zeke, is an instant hit for me, as well as Lizzie. He brings his little boy charm and wonder of the world through his eyes; you can’t help but fall in love with him. Watching things play out between Lizzie, Zeke and Heath is a whole lot of fun and how God orchestrates everything to bring about forgiveness & second chances. Family dynamics is a strong theme throughout; bonds that go beyond blood, those that are forged through love and a lifetime of lessons learned the hard way. Typical Herne fashion that I’ve come to expect and look for! Faith, forgiveness, learning to start over, ties that last, and of course, love are what you’ll find in Her Cowboy Reunion. I can’t wait for Lizzie’s sisters stories, Charlotte & Melonie!

Ruth Logan Herne penned another charming whimsical story with her latest Love Inspired book, Her Cowboy Reunion. Lizzie Fitzgerald never imagined working at a ranch in Idaho after her father disgraced the family. Heath Caufield was shocked when she arrived at the ranch, where he had been working for her Uncle Sean for a number of years. Lizzie and Heath parted ways when family pressure was applied; however, the Fitzgeralds’ daughters caregiver Corrie, intervened for Heath by sending him to Idaho to work at Sean Fitzgerald’s ranch. There’s plenty of action on the ranch and all the working details with Lizzie love for horses being evident. Heath and Lizzie must come to an understanding with each other since Uncle Sean’s will was specific about the ranch. Zeke, Heath’s adorable son, won Lizzie’s heart with his eyes and manners, but will Heath and Lizzie be able to come to terms about the past? Will forgiveness be found?
I love how Ruth Logan Herne choose to write about the affects of forgiveness from both perspective—forgiving and clinging to faith in God or hanging on to it with anger. I look forward to the next book in Shepherd’s Crossing and the story of another Fitzgerald’s daughter overcoming or finding a new beginning.
Thank you to Ruth Logan Herne for a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review but have expressed my own thoughts.
‘Lots of things in life aren’t fair. We cling to our faith and hold tight to the reins.’
Ruth Logan Herne begins another series, Shepherd’s Crossing, with this new book and it is truly so very good. Lizzie Fitzgerald has had a rough life when she inherits a quarter of a ranch from an uncle she’s never seen. It means she’ll get to work with the horses she loves, but when she arrives, she runs into an old sweetheart, Heath Caulfield. Things ended badly between them and now Heath is widowed with a 5 year old son, who Lizzie quickly comes to care for very much.
Lizzie is determined never to be hurt again and Heath can’t bear to be unfaithful to his wife’s memory, but God has a different plan for these two. Written in Herne’s straight from the heart style, this one is sure to please her fans and others, too. I loved every minute and finished in one day.
