I’ve had lots of humans, but none who make me lose control like you.Sam I was born in a lab, fostered out to humans, then tortured in a cage. Fate allowed me to escape, and I know why.To balance the scales of justice. Right the misdeeds of the harvesters.Nothing matters but taking down the man who made me what I am: A monster driven by revenge, whatever the cost. Then I meet Layne. She thinks I’m … revenge, whatever the cost.
Then I meet Layne. She thinks I’m a hero. But she doesn’t understand–If I don’t follow this darkness to its end, it will consume me.
Layne
I’ve spent my life in the lab, researching the cure for the disease that killed my mom. No late nights out, no dates, definitely no boyfriend.
Then Sam breaks into my lab, steals my research, and kidnaps me. He’s damaged. Crazy. And definitely not human. He and his friends are on a mission to stop the company that’s been torturing shifters, and now I’m a part of it.
Sam promises to protect me. And when he touches me, I feel reborn. But he’s hellbent on revenge. He won’t give it up.
Not even for me.

I’ve read the last two ‘Alpha’s’ books and adore the mix of steam, action and intrigue that can be found in them. The plot twists and turns kept me hooked from beginning to end. In fact I was both surprised and saddened to reach the end – I loved reading about Sam and Layne.
Sam is a bad-ass but had such a vulnerable side to him that I just wanted to wrap him in a hug and not let go. He might not be an alpha but he was plenty hot and dominant enough for me. Layne is a super hot nerd-girl, battling to make life better for others. This has led her to some very naive decisions and put her life at risk.
There is just something magical that happens when these two authors combine their writing talents. Though they are not rom-coms the end result is a witty and fun read, with plenty of steamy bedroom/bathroom/hallway action and a cracking good story to boot. I was totally swept up in Layne and Sam’s story, enjoyed every page of the book and can’t wait for the next one.
I love, love, love, Lee Savino and Renee Rose when they get together for their Bad Boy Alphas books. I know that I’m in for a great ride, a great read, and a great romance. They are books that I look forward to, reread, and want to pick up again as soon as I’m done with them. That means that the second I hear about a new one, my hands are itching until I get it on my Kindle. It’s no different when it comes to Alpha’s Obsession.
We first met Sam way back in the very first book. He was a sidekick and was not much in the picture. Sam had a terrible past and he is pretty much on the edge a lot of the time. After spending too much time in his wolf, he sometimes has some tenuous control. He lives for revenge against the one person who caused so much pain and suffering in his life, as well as the lives of many, many other shifters. He’s bound and determined to get his revenge, no matter what happens.
Layne is a dedicated scientist. She has spent her life in schools, working hard, and graduating early. Now she’s working with a strain of supercells which may be the secret to curing so many, many genetic diseases. She doesn’t know where they came from, just that they are nearly miraculous in what they can do. Then one day, a security guard shows up in her lab, and starts messing around with the computers. When she calls him on it, he ends up dragging her away.
All the things that happen in this story, OMG. It starts out with a lot of action and ends up with a lot of explosions. In the middle, you get a love story, more action, and some spanking. Sam and Layne are two broken people who are trying to figure out how to be less broken and if they can be less broken when they are together, and it’s beautiful to watch that unfold. They both deserve to find someone who loves them and who wants to put them first. I’m so glad to see Sam get his chance of having what he deserves and what he needs. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series and getting peaks at Sam and Layne.
I received an advance review copy thru Bookfunnel. Layne has been hired at a research facility that is conducting illegal testing on shifters. Sam, a tortured shifter, is trying to destroy the facilities and the men behind it. In the process he steals the research and kidnaps Layne. The book is full of danger and intrigue. The story is well written and keeps your attention. There is @ HEA for Sam and Layne but there is a lot that happens before this happens. I would highly recommend this book for a great read.
A great story definitely worth the read! A great story with broken people, pasts that won’t let them go, and bleak futures. I fell in love with the characters right away, but I love pretty broken things anyway. I can’t even say which character had the saddest story anyway. Sam spent his whole life as a science experiment, and Layne was running short of life. The story vacillates between characters seeking revenge and salvation and the choices they have to make to be happy. The blowing up stuff and technological aspects of the story were exciting, but you keep getting pulled back in, deeper by the page, by the feelings and the sheer aching frustration of lives that were twisted by things out of their control. The action was tight, very intense fight scenes, very combustible love scenes. The secondary characters were interesting and I would love to see what can happen with their stories in the future.
Layne is dying but she’s determined to find a cure before she goes. Sam thinks he’s broken and he’s determined to find the SOB that is destroying shifters lives. It’s nice to finally see Smyth get his due and to see some of those abused get closure.
Another great read. I would definitely recommend it.
4.5 STARS
Intrigue and passion make an awesome mix!
This is the first book in this series that I have read, but I don’t feel like I am missing anything as the story progressed. Sam’s character has flashbacks throughout the book that introduced me to more of his past, but it was also explained as the storyline went on. The plot has been done before … evil scientist (not Layne), non-willing test subjects, decoding shifter DNA … but I will say that Renee Rose and Lee Savino were able to spin it in a way that I haven’t read before. The characters are memorable and the story itself kept me entertained with its action-packed pages and the unfolding of a love that will last the ages.
Sam is a totally damaged character, and even admits to it. Due to his captivity and torture, he has issues with his wolf. But none of that matters when it comes to Layne for him. She is it, but dang does he fight it. Hard headed and stubborn to boot, there were times that I wished I could go into the pages and smack him upside the head, but then that thought would flow right out of my mine when it came to the sexy times. He gives off some dominant vibes that are shiver worthy. But what I really liked was how he was with Layne: compassionate, sinful, dominant, possessive, and protective. I could feel how much this character cared about his mate.
I was not too keen on Layne when I first started to read about her. But the more the story unfolded and the secrets about her spilled out, the more I really grew to care for her. She is super intelligent, but she is wonderfully sarcastic and playful. But she has a secret that could destroy any chance of a future between her and Sam. But that is not the only thing that could rip them apart. There are many different facets of Layne’s character that it kept me constantly intrigued. There were times that I smiled at her wit and times that I cried long with her. She kept me going emotionally through the story.
All in all, I thought Alpha’s Obsession was a freaking awesome read. At times funny and playful, and other times dangers and deadly with immense heat. I read through a gambit of emotions the more I read and truly ended up loving the book and the characters. However, I have to admit that I am completely intrigued by a secondary character and cannot wait for his story to be told. Definitely a recommend read!

Book #5, Bad Boy Alphas series. Renee Rose and Lee Savino have created magic once again!
Driven by her past, Dr. Layne Zhao’s a PhD at the age of 25, working in a state-of-the-art genetics lab, trying to cure the disease that killed her mother. What could be more compelling? But is anything truly as it appears? She remains oblivious to the danger surrounding her. The over-the-top security, her predator-like boss, the strange and unannounced visitors to her lab with armed bodyguards would make anyone anxious. But Layne’s focused on her research to the exclusion of all else. Little does she know what lies ahead. When Sam Smith breaks into her lab, she assumes he’s just another security guard. But we all know where assumptions take us. As Sam steals her research, destroys her lab, and kidnaps her in an effort to save her, Layne’s paralyzed with shock and fear. When she learns of Sam’s past, the terrors to which he’s been subjected, what he really is, and what drives him toward self-destruction, she’s blindsided with disbelief and fear. As she tries to understand the man behind the wolf shifter who frightens her so, she also starts to see her own true self for the first time. As their enemies move closer and closer, Sam and Layne have decisions to make. Can they trust each other? Assault, kidnapping, and threatening to blow up Layne’s lab certainly hasn’t instilled faith in Sam. Layne’s multiple attempts to escape and betray him don’t quite let Sam trust her either. But they share a common foe. And while Layne and Sam’s attraction can only end up in disaster for both, it’s magnetic, pulling them inexorably together. Is it possible that a damaged and broken werewolf and a genius research scientist can find common ground? What, if anything, can they do to save not only themselves but others in grave danger? When their plans go very far awry, is it even possible they can survive? Can anyone help? Will they? Or will Layne and Sam have to stand on their own to face down the most harrowing, horrific enemy that anyone could conceive?
Renee Rose and Lee Savino have again teamed up to write an extraordinary paranormal novel. They truly are a dynamic duo! The books in this series just keep getting better and better. These two have the ability to take the mythical and transform it into a believable story. Layne and Sam are so unique. Layne’s distrust of Sam, her feistiness, her absolute dedication to her research to the exclusion of all else, including her inability to face reality and the dangers facing her, make her vulnerable, yet still strong, relatable in so very many ways. Sam believes he’s truly broken beyond repair. He lives to right the wrongs of his past. His focus is on vengeance. These two are complete opposites. Yet somehow they connect on a visceral level. Trust and belief shouldn’t be possible. Layne feels betrayed in so many ways. Sam need focus. The very real challenges each faces are what pulls you into the story from the first page. This book is truly a rollercoaster ride of challenges and uncertainty. There’s pain, betrayal, reconciliation, and humanity inherent in both Layne and Sam. The emotions run the gamut from doubt, bafflement, panic, and double-dealing to belief, wonder, acceptance, and eventual trust. There’s also the encompassing love and support of family, friends, and pack without which the story would be incomplete. Ms. Rose and Ms. Savino have woven a compelling tapestry that captivates and enthralls from the first to the last page. This story is fantastic! I can’t give it anything less than five stars. Congratulations, Renee Rose and Lee Savino! You’ve done it again!
One final note. Please be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. Think hard before buying any book you know you won’t enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the authors. They work extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to the book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the authors an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
As usual, any book involving the winning writing duo of Lee Savino and Renee Rose are
the BEST!
This book, has it all, mystery, suspense, lab testing on living beings for nefarious ends.
Love does bloom as Sam breaks into Data X to steal then destroy the testing of Shifters
in the lab that Layne has poured her whole life and soul into the research to help cure
many human diseases including the one that took her mother’s life. As all hell breaks
loose, Sam ends up taking the head scientist, Layne, hostage.
There are a variety of shifters that are involved in the task of ridding themselves of the
wicked men like Don Santiago who are testing and torturing the shifters via their research
to control shifters to make a master race that can fight their wars.
The close confines of Sam and his abductee Layne, prove to be more than either of them
can resist, the attraction between them is strong.
Yes, there is steaming hot sex between the two and a lot of mystery involved.
In the end we got a great story, adventure, suspense, love and understanding along
with Lions and Tigers, Warewolves and an Owl to keep up the action.
Thank you for another winning Shifter adventure, I look forward to the next
collaboration from these authors.
Worth living for
I don’t think I have completely recovered from the emotional roller coaster the authors took us on with this book. This book was such a bittersweet story that, fortunately, had a very HEA. I loved all of the new characters and the direction the story is going in. I especially enjoyed the lead into the next book. I can’t wait to read it.
I love this story and these characters. This book is Sam’s story, we learn about his backstory how he meets Jackson. We find out why he hates Smith and why he wants to destroy the compounds. Sam find his mate Layne, she is dying fatal hereditary disease. She’s a researcher at one of the compounds and she’s trying to find a cure for her disease. Their story is a challenge because of her illness and Sam thinking that he’s too broken to ever love or be loved. I couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what happened next. Love this series and can’t wait for the next one hope it’s Nash’s story
I love these stories by Renee Rose and Lee Savino. The shifter characters are always so hot and so very Alpha.
Sam and Layne meet up while Sam is kidnapping her from the lab and everything gets hot and heavy from there.
wow these 2 authors really make a stunning team and write thrilling, intruiging and sexy stories!!
I had wondered if Sam would get his own story and im so happy that he did. The story is rich in detail about how he became the wolf he is and his unusual meeting and relationship with Layne – another intruiging character!!! It gets hot and steamy between them super quick and stays that way. But as always with the stories in this series there is a lot going on with the plot and things dont go easy for them.
Lost of thrilling action, supense and sexy steamy scenes!!
Love it!!
LOVE this series: Bad, Boy Alphas – An MC Werewolf Romance , LOVE the authors!!! Renee Rose, Lee Savino LOVE this wonderful addition “Alpha’s Obession” book 5 ! We met Sam (a wolf shifter) in the first book of the series, we didn’t learn much about him but we knew his past was not pleasant and he is bent on revenge. Layne is an accomplished, brilliant doctor working to save lives but with a mystery about herself that she doesn’t share but leaves her broken like Sam. Renee Rose and Lee Savino write passionately and tell a beautiful story. One can’t help but love the characters and find the story hard to put down because they write a story filled with danger, mystery, suspense, fast paced, warmth, sexy, sensual scenes and tension. Nice to see Nash again, learn more about him and know his story is next! – Yeah! The chemistry between Sam and Layne is electric and steamy romance follows! Each book is a stand alone romance but if you read them all, you are in for an Amazing experience! Thank you Renee Rose and Lee Savino!!!
The pairing of Renee Rose and Lee Savino just keeps getting better with each book! While each book in this series can be read on its own, this series is really better read in order. Sam was first introduced in book one and I knew his story would be an intriguing one. At the time I couldn’t imagine a suitable mate for Sam but then I never quite imagined a woman such as Layne! Layne doesn’t put up with anyone’s nonsense, including Sam’s, so she is the perfect match for Sam.
This book had plenty of action, romance and drama. Definitely can’t wait for Nash’s story, that poor lion has a lot of baggage to work through!
I LOVE this series!
Sam finally gets his own book. I have felt for this tortured hero since he was first introduced.
Life has not been kind to Layne or Sam. They both have burdens, scars, and very little hope. But they also have courage to fight for what they believe in. No spoilers, but I laughed, cried and my heart raced.
This writing team is phenomenal! I can’t wait for the next installment.
The fifth book in the series and it features Sam. We learn more about his past and all the horrible things that happened to him until he got saved by Jackson. Poor Sam, he doesn’t feel he is good enough, but his Wolf feels different when he meets Layne.
I loved it when the Wolf know a lot faster what is right and what he should do before the human part does. Layne was so strong and really believed she was doing the right thing. And she stood up for what she believed, including a stubborn Wolf
Love this series
I wasn’t as excited to read this one as the others; the premise didn’t really scream “read me” to me. But as it’s part of the series, I really want to read them all and in order, so there I went.
Right away, we’re thrown into this situation regarding scientist, data, and alpha wolf chasing after her. I didn’t quite understand what was happening at the beginning. I suspect she’s running away to safety with her life’s work on a USB drive or something like that.
I think Sam is interesting. In the beginning, we’re told that he’s experienced Mood Madness before, or almost it, but got saved. It wasn’t super clear. I liked this aspect as previous books always talk about it and do explain it well enough to understand it, but so far no character we’ve ran into has had it/almost had it or anything like that.
Overall, was a very eh read.
