The third time, he tries flowers.
By the fourth time, he’s wearing a cup to protect himself.

This followed pride and prejudice pretty closely and was a cute modernization. I got butterflies for all the love between Lizzie and Darcy. It followed the 2005 movie version pretty closely as well. If you liked that movie, you will love this book.
Good for a modern twist on the Darcy and Elizabeth tale.
A retelling of the classic pride and prejudice set in modern times lacks some originality, but doesn’t fail to entertain. The modern day Darcy and Elizabeth continue to follow the example of the classic. This is a nice quick fun romance with little bit of heat and plenty of entertaining arguments.
I received an arc of this book by the author for an honest review. The story was absolutely amazing. Krista never seems to disappoint. I strongly suggest that you read this. If you have liked the authors other books than you will definitely enjoy this one. Mr. Darcey is a hard man to understand. One minute you are hating him, and the next you’re loving him.
Mr. Darcy’s Kiss is a sexy, romantic, modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Darcy is a sexy, billionaire who owns an airline company. Lizzie is an ICU nurse. The two first meet at a hospital fundraiser. As in the original, Darcy is an arrogant jerk, and Lizzie is a feisty, independent woman. However, Lizzy holds nothing back during their first meeting, she slaps him in the face. She makes an unforgettable first impression. Darcy can’t get her out of his mind. As with the original story, the two discover first impressions doesn’t always reflect who they are. Lakes turns up the heat on with this book and makes it her own.
I like how the writer fleshed out the characters, making them realistic for the 21st century. Jane is Lizzie’s best friend and roommate. Lakes kept her innocent beauty, and Charles is pretty much the same at his core. Wickham is still the evil, opportunistic jerk. Georgiana is still the sweet younger sister who only sees the best in her older brother. However, the storyline between her and Wickham is different. Darcy’s Aunt Catherine is still a haughty witch, but I loved the role Lakes put her in. It fit her to a tee. Lastly, I actually liked Lydia much better in this book than in the original. I lumped her in with Wickham in the original, but not in this one. Oh yes, she is selfish and vain, but I felt there was more of a connection with Lizzie in this book.
Now, on to the romance that is Darcy and Lizzie. It is somewhat condensed but remains for the most part true to Austen’s story. This has much more heat though. Their connection jumps off the pages. Lakes definitely showed us there is a fine line between hate and lust/love. I liked how Darcy’s goodness is shown throughout the book, not just towards the middle and end. Lizzy was fierce, and she definitely protected those she loved. As in the original book, there has never been a couple more suited to one another.
Jane Austen is by far one of my favorite writers of all time. I do enjoy reading retellings of her works, but I also don’t like it when the storyline veers too far from hers, but Lakes did a great job of making the characters her own yet leaving the foundation of her they are in their souls. I know Krista Lakes has published many books, but I have to admit this is the first one I have read by her. I’m very impressed! I will definitely be reading more from her.

I love Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen and I really liked this modern day retelling of the story when Billionaire Mogul Mr. Darcy meets ICU Nurse Elizabeth Bennett. This version had some heat to warm up your kindle. The story had some really good twists in it that will keep the story fresh and new. Great character development between all of the characters. The slow build between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth is great. If you are a fan of the orignial than this book is a must read.
