A Regency Spy Romance you can not put down…
I absolutely loved this story. As someone who is very picky with reading material, I found myself captured by the characters and storyline. Just like “Saving Shadow”, “A Peculiar Courtship” is a wonderful read and Laura keeps it interesting from start to finish.
Loved Jonathan and Hannah’s story!!!! Hannah is stubborn and full of determination to learn how to defend herself and I love it. Though Jonathan is a spy of the crown he turns to pure mush around Hannah and I adore how their love story came about.
A Peculiar Courtship was an impeccable follow up to Saving Shadow. The love story and intense mystery was utterly fantastic. As the mystery began to unfold I was speechless at the wrongs some of the characters committed to their own family.
We met Johnaton in the first book, but he really charmed me in A Peculiar Courtship! He is a brilliant man when it comes to life as a spy and working for the crown, now when it comes to courting women, not so much, but that is probably what I adored the most about him.
Johnaton had been on the hunt for Lady Hannah since the first book, nearly six weeks, before he found her, and she was still in danger. I enjoyed watching Lady Hannah take her safety into her own hands and learn how to defend herself. It was very empowering, especially because this was not a common occurrence in the 1800’s.
The world and character building in A Peculiar Courtship was very well developed. I feel as if Eliza and Benedict are people I truly know, along with the many other characters we have been introduced to up to this point.
The story arc for this book was complete, but there are bigger things in play that haven’t been resolved, like shutting down Napoleon! I really don’t want to go into the mystery part, as I fear I would ruin that part of the story.
If you are in search of a well thought out mystery, this series is perfect for you!
A secret,romantic read!!
Ok. It’s official. I love this series! I love the romance! I love the action! I really love the characters!!
After reading Saving Shadow, I already loved Jonathan, and was really looking forward to meeting Hannah. She is a delight! Even though she is a lady, she is humble and down to earth. And willing to milk a cow! I loved the banter between her and Jonathan. They’re a great match!
Eliza and Benedict are prominent characters in the book, which I was so happy about. I love them! I liked the way Hannah looked up to Eliza and wanted to learn from her. And Eliza was more than happy to oblige! I also loved seeing more of Mr. Larson. He is still one of my favorites!
I read the first two books in the series back to back, and I’m having a really hard time not being able to pick up the next one right away. It’s so hard to wait! But it will be worth it, I’m sure!
