Julia Sykes writes great books. I love falling into her words and meeting her characters. I’ve managed to fall in love with all of them so far. It wasn’t any different when I met Ashlyn, Marco, and Joseph. I really would like to know them all in real life and I am kind of jealous of Ashlyn.
Ashlyn is a Harvard student. A few weeks ago, Marco came and told the love of her life, Joseph, that he had to leave and go home. Since then, she’s had a hard time dealing with life. One night, she sees Marco who ends up drugging her and taking her to Joseph.
Marco tells Joseph that he has a surprise for him then leads Joseph into his room, where he has put Ashlyn. Marco tells Joseph that Ashlyn was in danger and being watched by their enemies, so he had to take her so that they could keep her safe.
Joseph has been moping around because he missed his sweet, innocent angel Ashlyn, so when Marco brings her to the house so that they can keep her safe, he’s thrilled by it. However, he’s still keeping a part of himself from her because he doesn’t think that she can handle it, even though Marco keeps telling him that she can.
Oh man, the interactions between Ashlyn and Joseph, Ashlyn and Marco, Joseph and Marco, and the three of them together are super hot. There is a lot of caring and love on everyone’s parts. It takes some time for the three of them to figure it out, but it would, any relationship would, and the more people you add, the more issues that you have to figure out. There are outside forces which threaten them, but they are able to figure it out and live happily ever after.
A sexy fast paced Mènage Romance. If you love Alpha Possessive Alpha Men Pick this up. I absolutely loved Ashlyn Reationship with the men. How their are strong and protect of her. This series is so fun and Suspenseful , a real page turner. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
Goodness… just when you thought you were healing from not getting more of this trio, Julia drops a whole book on them again! I cannot get enough of these three. The dynamic of it all… is so enticing. The love and protection. The suspense. Makes you feel the feels and wonder if you’d want to be in a trio like Joseph, Ashlyn, and my favorite of the three… Marco. I say go ahead and pick up this book and get lost in their world again. You will not be disappointed.
Marco and Joseph are finally getting into the nit and gritty of their mob life. Ashlyn is understanding what this type of life is going to ask of her and her men. The relationship between everyone is starting to form between them, so now is not the time to show it in public. Joseph is the boyfriend to Ashlyn and Marco will travel along as he always has as her bodyguard. But when people start hinting that there is going on more in the bedroom and relationships then there are a lot of problems that can come forward in the mafia life.
I am ready to read the next book and see what is to happen with these three.
Fabulous, carried on from book 1, as it goes on the chemistry changes as Marco is still holding back from Ashlyn, Joseph knows how to fix this in the best possible way. 0 to holy hot in seconds as Ashlyn and her Doms finally accept they are meant to be. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
I loved this book! It wasn’t as dark as most of Julia’s books but she throws in a little dark with her romance and I love it!
Ashlyn, Joseph, and Marco are hot together, and I love the protectiveness. There is some kink that may not be favorable to some but it didn’t distract me from the story. I was curious about what would happen with them, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
This is the second book in the Mafia menage trilogy, and I love how it picks up where book one left off. You’ll want to make sure you read Mafia Captive first, to see how things start off.
Great continuation of the Mafia menage trilogy by Julia Sykes. I loved it. It was a story definately more on the sweeter side even with the Mafia theme while at the same time having hot, steamy intense scenes which were sooo good! Through Joseph and Marco, Ashlyn gets introduced to the mild (although quite aggressive in the bedroom) BDSM lifestyle and “Daddy” play (in and out of the bedroom). So if that is something you like, go for it.
I cannot wait to see how the story goes on in the third book. I can highly recommend it.
This was incredible the characters are written in deapth that you will feel all the feels of emotion the danger they are in and full of love with kink.I really enjoyed the difference between Marco who was very outspoken with a harsh voice and Joseph much more calmer but hiding his true self but when these two come together as best friends who share everything they are irresible and Ashyln is one lucky lady who is introduced to a whole new world that she never even seen coming. Its a must read and I loved how different it was and they didn’t care what anyone thought. I voluntarily read a readers copy of this book
These 3 are too hot to handle
I love how Julia adds so much depth to her characters. Joseph and Marco both have so many obstacles to overcome to find thier happy ending with Ashlyn.
This is a fiery Mafia romance, that delves into the heart of kitchen table polyamory in every girls fantasy three way. There is so much right about this book!
Also it got me so hot, I’ll be taking cold showers this week in the middle of winter.
I can’t wait for the conclusion!
Wow! This is an amazingly beautiful story. Now that Ashlyn is being kept safe on Marco’s Estate, her relationship with both Joseph and now Marco can begin to change and grow.
Joseph, Marco and Ashlyn are three unique and fascinating people. Each has their own needs and desires. This story takes us on a journey, whereby Ashlyn learns to accept and thrive with the attention of both Joseph and Marco. Will they find submission and devotion within their household? Will each person find the love and joy they seek?
This is an intricate and intoxicating story that never failed to hold my interest.
Loved this book. This continues Joseph, Marco’s and ashlyn’s story. After their caught in the middle of their loving by his cousin they fear for all theirs lives. Joseph and Marco have to leave new York so all three leave and start over but will it stay safe for them? A MUST READ
This is a must read! You will fall in love with Ashlyn, Marco and Joseph, just as I did. Love, passion, acceptance, danger and more lies between these pages, just waiting for you to devour them. Such an enthralling and captivating story!
I received an ARC in exchange for my voluntary and honest review.
A simply wonderful read, riveting read continues
Marco and Joseph are the very best of friends they have grown up together and they are fairly similar in many regards, also they have the same feelings for the beautiful and desirable Ashlyn.
Ashlyn is frustrated because she wants to return back to her own home but Joseph realises that now they have her back in their lives they want to ensure that she stays with them, they both care for her deeply and want her to realise how special she is no matter what it takes.
They decide that the best way to instil their feelings is to punish her when she needs it and to love her and coddle her when her tears need drying. Marco is much more of the Daddy disciplinarian character in the group and Joseph tends to run to somewhat darker actions and yet together they balance each other.
This was a wonderful; read and I look forward to the last book in this series.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
So the story continues.
Ashlyn Joseph and Marco.
A steamy sexy read.
I enjoyed this story. it had a bit of everything. A mafia connection. Raunchy sex and kink to spice it up.
I got into Ashlyn’s head space. I totally got her reservations about this menace and her needs. Even if she didnt understand those feelings to start with.
Can’t wait to find out how it will end
This was an entertaining read. I developed at a good pace and had a good storyline. At times it was a bit harsh but at others it was quite kinky!
Good read
Maybe 2.5
Immature characters. The storyline didn’t flow, it was more “forced” and kind of cheesy. The “Dom” was not in charge of the scenes but “Daddy” was. It was silly actually.
So this was the main event “War of Hearts” By Julia Sykes and it was delicious.
This starts where “Battle for love” leaves us, With Ashlyn being kidnapped by the enigmatic Marco and removed to Marco’s family’s country estate where Joseph completely unaware is pining for his lost Angel.
The reason for this abduction, Joseph is heartsick and Marco wants his friend back to what he once was pre-Ashlyn.
So delivering Ashlyn seems the ideal solution to this issue.
So While this is set in the mafia world, there is actually scant interaction with the mafia undertone.
It factors only briefly in the background.
“War Of Hearts” main focus is on the dynamic between our three main characters. Ashlyn, Joseph and Marco.
And as I mentioned previously it’s Marco I am drawn to and I couldn’t wait to learn more about this guarded individual.
It quickly becomes apparent that the alpha personality here is Marco and also that The same thing that has drawn Joseph to his innocent angel Ashlyn and quickly turned into an obsession for him is happening again.
This time with Marco and for different reasons.
Also while Marco is drawn to Ashlyn, he also is aware and knows that she is capable of so much more and in fact that Joseph has vastly underestimated her resilience and strength of capacity.
But where Joseph wants to corrupt his angel and dirty her edges.
Binding her in his ropes and playing with her boundaries.
Marco wants to protect his princess, she is his darling precious girl, and he is also the driving force here behind the whole menage dynamic.
The driver if you will.
I was rubbing my hands together in glee when I realised the dynamic here was of Master, daddy and Ashlyn, I love love love this aspect so much.
So there is plenty more going on here to sell this and I was really pleased with where this took me and how this ended.
And I was ultimately right, there is so much more to Marco than what we were originally given and were exposed to in the short prequel to this “Battle for Love”.
“War Of Hearts” gives us some terrific likeable love interests and it doesn’t hurt that this is also hot and sexy as hell.
Quite a read.
So there we have it, folks, this was a good solid read with fantastic well-developed dynamics between its main three characters.
But, If I’m completely honest, Marco is hands down my favourite.
He is also the individual in this that for me really shone to the forefront.
Capturing that limelight.
So give this a go it is definitely one of the better menage romances I have read.
I was provided with an ARC of “War Of Hearts” By Julia Sykes of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This was originally touted as a dark read, though the author has since made clear that personal circumstances have produced a gentler and loving read. That isn’t a criticism of the book, which is a well written menage read, with romantic suspense and a tint of darkness included. Whilst it doesn’t quite have the gritty depth or impact of the Impossible series, it does have the high quality writing and editing of those books..
There is a prequel (currently free) called Battle for Love, which sets the scene for how Ashlyn and Joseph originally met. You could read this without that, but it does enhance this book.
I did find Ashlyn to be quite a naive and immature character. However she is only 20 so despite her, at times, TSTL outlook it didn’t lower my rating for the book as it fitted with her age. What I really did like was how she brought out the best in both Marco and Joseph, how she filled a need in them, as they in turn completed her. Whilst the sex scenes do contain some BDSM, they were fairly mild and brief. In fact the book had a much gentler feel to it than previous books by the author.
The main characters lacked a little of the depth that I would normally expect from the author, though they were still very likeable and drew me into the story. I found the book really easy to read and the pace held my attention. A few times I winced at parts of the story line but the author must have read my mind because within a few pages those issues had been addressed and resolved in a believable and satisfying way.
The writing is good, the story flows well and is easy to read. I found myself totally caught up in the story and, whilst it didn’t blow me away, it’s a really pleasant, steamy, menage read that I am happy to recommend.
Loved it! Let me just say HOT! Hawt! Hot!
War of Hearts is a Standalone Ménage Romance. I knew after reading Battle for Love (prequel to War of Hearts) that I was going to love this book! War of Hearts is a page turner and it was only interrupted by me going to work.
This is a Mafia romance and is Joseph, Ashlyn and Marco’s story. It is a MFM type of ménage.
There is a little role Daddy & Master role playing and I am not into Daddy romances and that didn’t stop me from thinking that War of Hearts was good! I give it 4.5 stars and look forward to reading more books by Julia Sykes.
