Ace is saving lives and mending hearts…….Anthony “Ace” BaileyI’m not a rules kinda guy Department Policy? Kinda sucks, but I do what I have to for the job that I love.Playing it safe? Not my thing.Married? No big deal when I know she’s unhappy and scared.I’m one of those guys – a sniper in the military, a little bit of an adrenaline junkie, and a member of the Moonshine Task Force. I’ve lived … member of the Moonshine Task Force. I’ve lived through some shit.
My gut has never failed me. It’s my sixth-sense. Warning me of a gunshot coming my way, of a traffic stop being potentially deadly, or the tingling in the back of my neck when I go to sleep telling me I’ll be woken up by a call in the middle of the night. My gut has always kept me honest.
Like the day I walked into The Café and saw the new waitress. There was a ring on her left hand, but I didn’t care. One look in her eyes told me everything I needed to know. Her marriage wasn’t one made of love and respect. It was one made of fear and doubt.
It’s why I ignored that ring, why I arrested her husband, and the reason I’m willing to take my time. Patience is a virtue, and with this woman, I have it in spades.
Violet Miller
Meeting Anthony Bailey changed my life. He did things that no one else has ever done for me.
Feeling safe? Never happened before.
Feeling wanted? It’s been years.
Being independent? I’m learning.
It’s foreign, not having someone question my every move, being able to eat what I want for dinner, and sitting out on my front porch talking to Anthony every night while we share a couple beers.
I try to tell myself he’s just being nice; that he’s doing his job and working within the community. The problem? The night he takes the kiss we both want, everything changes, and I can no longer deny what I feel. But it doesn’t stop me from trying – and I learn quickly that Ace knows me better than anyone else ever has – including myself.
All I can do is hang on, as he takes me on the scariest journey of my life. The one that bends us until we almost break, and ends with a happily ever after I never thought I would get.
ACE includes the wedding of a beloved couple, an appearance by Reaper, and the continuation of EVERYONE falling in love with Caleb!

Fourth book in this series. This one is about Ace and Violet. This one had me wanting to cry during a few parts of this book. Watching Violet come back from what has happened to her got to me. I am not shy to admit that at all. I wanted to crawl into this book and hug her so very tight. She has dealt with something a strong woman like her should not have to have dealt with. But through it all Ace has been right there trying to help and make her see that she is indeed something special. I loved these two together. I loved being able to watch Ace prove to Violet that there is so much more to her than what has happened in her past. This was a very well written amazing story. Laramie did an amazing job with this one too. I dont think it could have been written any better.
Oh how addicted I am of the Moonshine Task Force! All the feels and I can not believe we are on Ace’s story already. Even though I knew that it was coming, I was hit like a ton of bricks with Violet’s story of building her new life. I kept waiting for the worst to happen and decided to roll with the punches. I have come to love this group and their woman.
When I get addicted to a series, I always hope that the next book will do it justice. Ace did bring it and more. Vi becomes a bad ass and takes on life for what it is. Ace is so patient that I eventually thought he would give up. Vi’s and Ace’s story is no picnic in the park, but it will still have you rooting for them
Ace made me nervous but calm. I had many conflicting emotions, but allowed my heart be taken within the pages. I can not get enough and will continue through the journey with the men of the MTF. I love that as each book comes out, we see how the previous characters continue to grow. I am excited to read Mason’s and Karina’s story next. I only hope she will be gentle with his heart.

Don’t let the past keep you from having it all..
I never thought I would have ended up being the proverbial doormat; married to a useless loser, or the fact things could have ended on a different note.
I’m more then ready to go home and try and salvage some of my wounded pride however
I’m like a nursery rhyme but unlike Humpty Dumpty my pieces can go back together.
Violet, or Vi was a waitress who worked really hard at the diner where anyone an everyone ate in our town.
The first time I laid eyes on her I totally ignored the obvious because it was quite clear at least to me she wasn’t being treated right nor was she happy.
The silence was almost deafening and the pain overwhelming but it was his things; everywhere I looked nothing but his possessions while he had everything and I had next to nothing.
Because to him I had been exactly that but nope no more I am something now all I have to is prove it.
Screaming and yelling like a true banshee it’s spring cleaning time and it’s time for him to vacate my house.
Now Ace has become my greatest champion in my darkest hours and he’s still standing beside me even when I don’t really understand why?
Yes, I’m scared and confused but I truly want to be a stronger person I’m just like ever woman I want to wanted by a good man and I want to believe him when he whispers sweet nothing’s in my ear.
Ace, can be the most stubborn man I’ve ever meet so even thought I’m pretty sure his idea won’t amount to anything I’m willing to try.
Okay so I was wrong and he was totally right on the money.
Weddings.. Location .. Put them together and yep our friends are finally having the wedding the deserve surrounded by everyone who loves them.
Who know sharing a room would lead my to express myself with so many words I’d long to share with her but also one amazing kiss.
Life doesn’t ask if you can handle this or that and I know that poor kid feels so darn guilty but he’s trashing his future which is bad enough but what’s worse I warned him once so now I’m going to have to clue his dad in on the fact his son is messing up.
Sometimes I think I’m going insane but I know how important being free and finished with that chapter in her life before we move on to the next one in ours.
Anthony, or Ace as he is known on the Moonshine Task Force, loved Violet from first sight, but she was married to abusive man. But he could be her friend until she got the divorce and help her, meanwhile working in the MTF where a lot was going on. I love this book by Laramie Briscoe, and I adore the entire Moonshine Task Force series. They are awesome, and Ace is one of the best.
This series keeps getting better. The MTF is an amazing group of men who have outstanding morals and values. When I started this series I did not know what to expect because I was a new reader of Laramie Briscoe’s books. I have to say I have not been disappointed at all. This is book # 4. Ace and Violet’s story, and what an emotional story it was. This book hit close to home for me. I felt for Violet and could relate with her. Ace is just simply perfect, he sees her, he can tell something is going on and wants to protect her. He’s patient, caring, loving and on top of it all he is loyal. He is not only loyal to Violet but to his MTF family. Who wouldn’t want a man to be wonderful as him? Violet proves to be a strong person with the assistance of Ace.
This was a well written and beautiful story.
I love the Moonshire Task Force series and even though we didn’t know much about Ace before his story I’ve been looking forward to reading this book.
I have to admit that this story was a little different from what we’ve come to expect from Laramie Briscoe when it comes to the MTF. With a little of the moonshine story arc that has been present in the previous books this instalment was more about the relationship between Anthony and Violet, the MTF ‘family’ and things going on with Caleb.
I really loved how patient and caring Ace was when it came to Vi. He was determine to win her over but knew he couldn’t rush her given her past and hellish first marriage. Violet was one strong woman – she overcame the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband and managed to trust again. I have to say that I think so much of her ability to move on came as a result of Anthony’s attention, care and support.
While it took a while for this couple to get together, the relationship they nurtured was sweet, caring and full of spark (even when they didn’t act on it!!)
Not as action packed as others but this was a really good read and set us up for the next book, which features Mason/Menace.
I’ve giving Ace 4*
HOLY HADES ACE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!! OMG this series is so incredible. With each book in the series things get better and better and the characters become family to me. I feel like I am right there with the characters seeing things first hand and feeling every emotion they are feeling.
Ace is the man. I love him so much. He is so loving and caring and protective. He loves being in the task force and he loves helping people out. So when he walks in the cafe and sees the new waitress he knows she is not happy. He can read it in her expression and his gut tells him something is wrong with her and he always follows his gut. So he does what any good guy does and finds out what is wrong and arrests her husband.
Violet is living her life scared to death of her husband who is abusive and controlling. She never knew that meeting Ace was going to change her life but it does. Violet is finally free from all the control and abuse and she is learning to live her life free from fear. As she starts to spend time with Ace she realizes that not all men are abusive and controlling. She and Ace hang out and she does things she never could do with her ex-husband. The more time they spend together the closer they get and one day Ace kisses her and everything between them changes. Can these two find their HEA together?
Oh my, my heart broke and then it soared for Violet! Her (EX)husband is a really piece of work. I’m so glad he is no longer in the picture and she was able to spread her wings and fly. The things she has been through at his hands would have made a weaker person throw in the towel, but not Vi once she got a taste of life she knew she would never live her life under a man or any other person again.
Ace is a man that most should take notes from. There was never any pressure on his part. I loved just how he showed her what life is supposed to be like. His devotion and patience while she grew as a person was unwavering. He made her safe and loved and that is something she has never felt from a man. How he would park outside of her home everyday and night making sure he was there just so she would feel safe enough to get some sleep.
Again we get to catch up with the other members of the MTF and see what all had changed in their lives. Looking forward to Menace’s story next.
If you love the Moonshine Task Force, then you will love Ace because he just about melted my heart in this book. Laramie has given us a main character named Ace who is all the man you could want. He is a low-key alpha in the bedroom but outside he is a protector, lover and fighter for those he cares about. When he meets Violet for the first time he sees the one he supposed to end up with, but she is married so he admires her from afar. Then one night will be the start of a wonderful friendship between Violet and Ace when he saves her from a monster that has tormented her for years.
I love Violet because before she found love again she wanted to be able to love herself. She is a strong female character with a few insecurities from being in a broken relationship. Her story can probably relate to a few women out there who feel as though they have nothing left to give but you must fight for the life you really want to get your happy ending. While Violet is fighting, Ace is supporting her with his friendship and love. I love both characters because they complement each other in all ways and when they finally get the relationship they have been waiting on it is intense. Their chemistry heats up the pages and you can feel the love coming from them with their words and thoughts. Laramie writes of a woman who is strong in her own right once she battles the demon who took her and broke her down. She writes of a man who has lost and found himself when he saw within one woman the life he is supposed to have. There is betrayal, lost, friendship, love and family all wrapped up in this book and you will not be disappointed with Ace and Violet. You will just fall in love with the whole Moonshine Task Force all over again. The story flows right from beginning to end and gives you little lustful teases before Violet and Ace finally stop fighting the inevitable. A delightful story you will not be disappointed when you pick up and read these lovable characters.
Ace and Violet’s story was absolutely great. I loved seeing Violet really come to be her own person and Ace was so supportive in her entire journey.
Anthony “Ace” Bailey hates playing by the rules but he will lay down his life for the Moonshine Task Force, they are his family. I have always trusted my gut instinct no matter what and it has saved me more times than I can count. So when my gut tells me that something isn’t right with Violet Miller’s marriage, I act first. She has never felt protected like she does with Ace, he gives her everything she has never hoped to have. I have never felt worthy but one stolen kiss changes everything for her. Could Ace and Violet finally have their happily ever after? I love how Ace and Violet are together. This book has some moments that had me fanning myself. The men of the Moonshine Task Force never let me down for some seriously hot men and the women that love them. Loved this book!!!
This is the fourth book in the Moonshine Task Force and this has been my much anticipated couple of Violet and Anthony (Ace). I met them in the previous book Havoc and couldn’t wait to get their story.
Violet is an abused wife and she meets Ace at the diner where she waitresses. He knew when he first saw her that he wanted to be the man to make her happy and on that fateful day her husband came in the diner on a rampage and beat her badly, Ace was the officer that arrested her husband and made it possible for Violet to finally have a life.
Ace and Violet are attracted to each other but don’t act on it. Violet wants to be divorced before she takes their friendship to the next level. Ace is patient and takes the relationship at Violets pace and he helps her heal. He is there to provide the safe haven of friendship and to give her the support she needs to heal. I loved their characters and Ace is just the man to bring out the woman that Violet once was. After years of being downtrodden by her abusive husband, Ace was the risk taker, the adrenaline junkie that shows Violet that with him, it’s safe to take risks.
This is a slow burn romance and I enjoyed the journey of watching them fall in love. It was great to have the families of the task force be there to provide love and support for Violet and to have her best friend be married to one of Ace’s buddies. It really provided that connection for the characters. I love the dual POV as it provides great direction, but I wish I would have a little more background on Ace. He is such a great guy that I wanted more. The story flowed well and there is a lot going on with our current characters as well as previous characters interwoven into the current story. There are some time jumps, which don’t bother me and were handled smoothly. The only down side for me is felt the ending was a little quick after the long build up of the story.
This is a great addition to this series and with the sneak peek at the end, I can’t wait for Menace and Karina’s story.
A real and gritty romance that’s strong and empowering…
I have been following the Moonshine Task Force series from book #1, Renegade. I lived and breathed every. Single. Story. Like it was my last. This entire series so far has been nothing short of brilliant. The Task Force plot flows flawlessly through every book, and every book tells a beautiful story that tugs at your heartstrings with such ferocity that it is impossible to get over. I have waited for Anthony and Violet’s story since we first met them in Tank and then by the time Havoc was over I was desperate for it. The thing I love about Laramie’s books is that they raise awareness to real issues happening in the everyday world. It is clever, humbling and beautiful romance with grit, substance and awing rawness.
Ace for me is one of the most poignant romances I’ve read in very long time. The plot centres around the topic of domestic abuse, or rather the aftermath of it. The first time I read this book I was a mess. I cried probably 70% of the way through, if not more. Then life got in the way and I couldn’t review it properly in the weeks after I finished it, so when I finally was able to get back to it I wanted to reread it. Let me tell you a few things about my reread;
It messed me up just as much as the first time.
I fell in love with the characters all over again.
It made me realise just how much of an incredible author Ms. Briscoe is.
Ace is so brilliantly written that it goes beyond a romance. This is the sort of story that makes you stop and take stock of the people around you. The plot is exceptionally well thought out and the follow through is verging on flawless. It makes you dig deep into yourself. It makes you think. But the thing that really got me was how Laramie achieved this without dampening the romance or even the romantic comedy feel of the book. Reading this story was an emotional rollercoaster, however there was always a sort of brightness to it that kept you looking up. That promised bigger and better things. And for me that’s what made this story great. It took a tragic and dark situation and saturated it with pure and consuming love and friendship so that although it raises awareness it doesn’t allow the negativity to win out. If that makes sense? It’s really very cunning.
The characters as always were brilliant and it was great seeing Witney, Renegade, Havoc, Leighton, Tank and Blaze again. But it also gave us greater insight into Menace and Caleb. I absolutely adore the way Laramie worked them into this story so that they weren’t just secondary characters, but you also got to see their lives progress. I still cannot get enough of any of them and I am super excited to get stuck into Menace. Although it was great seeing all the gang the primary characters were never an after thought for me. Ace was so incredibly soft and caring, yet at the same time he has this strong and demeanour. He is a hero through and through. I loved that he never pushes or even really makes the first move, he just waits and waits until Violet shows him she’s ready for more. He is that guy that is a little too rough around the edges to be Prince Charming, but he makes Prince Charming wish he was half as amazing as Anthony Ace Bailey is. I found that he was the perfect anchor for Violet. She’s such a strong character, there’s no doubt that she is the star of this book, however she has these moments of vulnerability and self-doubt that make her real and raw. I honestly cannot get over these two.
For me Ace is one of those books that is empowering even through its tragedy. It is incredibly well written and it has so much heart and grit that it makes it impossible for you not to fall in love with it. It’s message isn’t just for broken and damaged women, but also for the men in their lives. This is a book for every woman out there, regardless of what you have been through, it is empowering and it pushes you to look past the negative. To use the negative to propel you to things you never thought you could do or be. I am so looking forward to Menace now, and I can’t wait to see what Laramie has in store for our resident single dad.
Violet at Ace’s story is my absolute favorite in this series, hands down.
Violet Miller’s life flat out sucks. Her husband is the biggest jerk of all time. She’s not stupid, she knows what she should do, it’s actually taking that first step that she can’t seem to take.
When her husband attacks her at work that choice is no longer an option, it’s going to happen.
Anthony “Ace” Bailey.
Police officer, Moonshine Task Force member, in love with a married woman.
Yep, you heard that right, he thinks the cute, timid little waitress is his soul mate only she wears another mans ring.
Ace & Violets is an emotional journey. A truly broken woman who needs someone finds what she needs in the last person readers would expect. Had Ace not been the man he was I can assure you she’d have run to a female for support not developed a friendship with him.
He is everything good. He’s kind, patient, protective, he keeps Violet safe while being the man she can lean on. He never pushes even when his brain is screaming at him to claim his woman.
He is every thing Violet needs and wants, he is truly the most amazing man!
Violets journey is tough, she grows stronger with the help of her friends, one in particular. Her growth is just as beautiful to see as is his love for her.
My favorite book period.
Wow this is a powerful storyline. It really shows how Violet learns to deal with the violent abuse that her husband put her through and how she is trying to move forward. She does have one saving grace and that is Anthony “Ace” who is a member of the Moonshine Task Force. Ace has had a crush on Violet since the first day he met her at the cafe where she works. He knew she was married but could tell she wasn’t happy then he saw bruises on her and he decided he would be a friend that she could come to if she needed help. One day while Violet was working her husband came in and attacked her, Ace was the first to respond to save her. Ace was by her side to offer her any assistance that she may need through her recovery but would she want his help or anyone else to help?
This is an amazing story about love and loss. I received this book as an ARC copy for a voluntarily honest review.
