Who killed Jack Sullivan?Welcome to Hamlet. Population: 192.
You can’t find it on any map, GPS, or directions site. A small village tucked between a mountain and a valley, Hamlet is the sort of place where everyone knows everyone—and their business, too. There’s no television. No internet. No phones. Only one way in and, for the locals, barely any way out. The sheriff is the law, the only doctor … the law, the only doctor moonlights as the coroner, and outsiders hardly ever come to town.
Murders are even rarer.
A treacherous storm, a flat tire, and a touch of serendipity causes Tessa Sullivan and her husband Jack to stumble upon the narrow strait that leads into Hamlet. It was supposed to be a one night stop until the rain let up and Jack could figure out how to fix the tire—until Tess lands herself in the local jail cell overnight and Jack is found dead in their hotel room the next morning.
There’s no doubt it was murder, but with Sullivan’s gentle wife having an airtight alibi, the sheriff has to wonder: who had any cause to kill the outsider? And is he the only victim?
Dr. De Angelis doesn’t think so. Neither does Deputy Walsh. With Tess looking more and more like the killer’s next target, both men take the time to comfort and protect the young widow. But only one of them is sincere. The other just wants her to himself now that her husband is out of the way.
Alone and afraid, who can she trust?
* Don’t Trust Me is a full-length murder mystery/ domestic thriller novel (85,000+ words) set in Hamlet, a cozy small town in the middle of nowhere—where everyone knows your name and, even so, no one is safe…

Wow. Hard to put down. A different spin on crime.
Great book with a surprise ending.
Kept my guessing!
“Don’t Trust Me” is much better than you’d normally expect for a debut novel. From its grab-you-from-the-start beginning to its twisted finish, the murder mystery takes you for a wild ride. There are just the right number of characters to set up a goo whodunit and Lynch finds way to keep most of them on your suspect list until the end. There are enough clues to satisfy readers with the ending, and yet enough there to figure it out if you like that types of challenge with your mystery. Looking for more from this author, this unusual “Hamlet” setting and these characters should be interesting and entertaining.
This is a wonderfully written murder mystery. It’s set in a small town that seems a bit creepy to me, the town is very insular. A couple arrive and the man gets killed. Now we have a whodunit! The author keeps the story moving along at a steady pace and comes up to something unexpected at the end! Definitely an author to look out for! A great book to read. Finished it in one day, cause I couldn’t put it down. Will read more from this author.

I liked this book ok. It was predictable, but it kept my attention and didn’t drag. Not sure it was captivating enough to want to read more in the series.
I don’t read many cozy mysteries but this was enjoyable read. Told from multiple perspectives the author keeps you guessing to the end of the story through an arsenal of misdirections, breadcrumb clues, and a surprising confession.
I couldn’t put this mystery story down and read it straight through. It was intriguing and kept me guessing until the reveal.
Tess and her husband are travelling to their second honeymoon destination when a flat tire takes them in a different direction. Before morning, Tess’s husband is dead and she is the small town sheriff ‘s chief suspect. But she has the perfect alibi, she spent the night in the drunk tank.
I couldn’t stop turning the pages with this story until I found out whodunnit! I highly recommend this story to mystery lovers everywhere.
If you love a good thriller and you’re a fan of the hit TV series, Murder She Wrote, then Don’t Trust Me is the book for you. In fact, I almost expected Angela Lansbury to jump out of the pages to solve this whodunit!
Hamlet’s a very small town somewhere in the USA~population 192. I got the vibe that Outsiders weren’t really welcome but the friendly townsfolk wouldn’t chase them away. Nonetheless, being a secluded community in the peaks and valleys of the mountains, the locals were very protective of their own.
A nasty blowout and one dangerous storm has Jack and Tessa discovering this quaint little town. The Sullivan’s are desperately trying to rekindle their rocky marriage by indulging in a second honeymoon and now this happens! Secrets, lies and deception lie ahead for this small community and just when you thought you figured it out, BAM!!
Don’t Trust Me is a wonderful debut novel by Ms. Lynch and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves to solve a crime.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review, Don’t Trust Me by Jessica Lynch.
This book was a pretty fast and easy read, the story flows and the characters are believable…Tess and her husband are on their way for a 2nd honeymoon after being married for a year they are already drifting apart….they end up stuck in a seriously small town where things are about to happen that neither one of them saw coming…..or did they? There are numerous plot twists that leave you questioning what you think you know.
