Saving the world should be easier. When airship captain Kaysana meets Sten, the last thing she wants is to have mad rough sex with him while restrained by ropes and clamps but fate pencils in their appointment. The lust plague strikes. From her infected crew, zombies arise. With her ship gone, she must rely on Sten, a human clone, a man who has fought all his life to master himself. She despises … master himself. She despises his kind and detests Sten’s growing hold on her. Though he never takes no for an answer, surely it’s the plague that makes yes slip from her tongue like melted butter? Or should she blame her own traitorous heart?
Sten and Kaysana unlimber weapons, don goggles, and set a course for the origin of the plague. Yet their victory will be hollow if they cannot also solve the puzzle of their hearts.
Warning: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and elements, exhibitionism, spanking, strong violence.

I loved this book much more than the first. There are so many incredible machines and inventions that’s so far developed from today’s mundane world. This story features a virus that escalates rapidly. A lust plague which turns the humans into zombies. The zombies turns violent in lust, rapes and abuses and then eventually eats their victims. Frankenstructs are immune to the virus. This is my next level of steampunk which is multi-faceted and adventurous. And did I mention erotica scenes while the zombies watches? Are you turned off? Don’t be, I’m horrible at putting words but when you read that particular scene and stare at the page in awe, you will realize how much immerced Cari’s writing had you.
Frankenstructs are now legal citizens and are free to do as they will but there are lot of resentments and hate from few people, among them is Kaysana. Kaysana hates frankenstructs but for a different reason. Captain of an airship, she is tough and loyal. When the zombie virus overtakes her crew in the airship Kaysana also comes under it’s influence but she does not turn into a zombie. Sten is a Frankenstruct who was cloned. Now free of slavery he no longer owes the world. When he comes across the infected people he sets to save whoever he can. He meets Kaysana who was already becoming a victim to a bunch of lust-addled zombies. Sten knows Kaysana hates Frankenstructs. He is attracted to her. Kaysana may not have fallen totally into the lust plague but she is not immune to Sten no matter how much she ignores.
Sten and Kaysana are such strong characters. Where Sten is playful, Kaysana is serious. Both are drawn to each other. Their journey to find the reason and cure to the virus was immersive. The gadgets, machines, vehicles are so well explained and decribed. The characterization and erotic scenes were explicit. I’m glad to find this odd combination of steampunk and zombies. This book can be read as standalone and I highly recommend this.
This book is so difficult to put in a category but just so much damn fun too. It’s like a mega-kinky, zombie-filled version of Lindsay Buroker’s Flash Gold series.
The story is totally action packed with some bizarre, yet somehow fitting, plot twists. The entire thing is written with amazing humour, at times it is even quite macabre, but this is such a fantasy realm book that I loved it.
The main, and other, characters are well written. I really liked both Kaysana and Sten, with their troubled pasts and their different hopes for the future. However the book is much more about the plot and the adventure, kinky or otherwise, than it is the characters in it. The story is fast paced, engaging, easy to read and held my attention throughout.
There are quite a few very kinky scenes and a couple skirt around the fringes of dubious consent. It shouldn’t need saying (but I will) that this needs to be put in the context of this being a work of fiction, set in a steampunk world that is suffering from a zombie lust plague.
Lust Plague –
Wow this was such a uniquely different story
Kay is one of the few female commanders and this has forced her to develop a bit of a “hard” exterior shell
She like most of the humans have an aversion to the frankenstructs – they are merely mindless and uncontrollable creatures- that is until Sven –
after her ship is overtaken by the virus and Kay is left in a very vulnerable position Sven steps in and saves her only to decide he wants a taste – Despite her hatred for his kind Kay finds herself craving his touch – is it just the plaque causing these emotions or is there more? Can she trust Sven to help her save the planet or will her lust induced haze leave her nothing more than a puppet to her base desires?
If you are looking for an edge of your seat – soul-wrenching- heart-pounding read that will tease and torment your every emotion then look no further
This story is filled with all the things that make it an 18+ read
you know sex and violence and kinky play – the good stuff
I loved her work in Alien Alphas so when I was offered a complimentary copy of this book I jumped on it – and after reading it I preordered the series
Lust Plague is the second book in the Steamwork Chronicles Series. And, is of the Steampunk genre. This one has Zombies. Who would have ever thought I would enjoy a book with Zombies in it? But, I did. This is Sten and Kaysana’s story. Sten is a human clone and is a Frankenstruct. Kaysana was an airship captain and doesn’t like Frankenstruct’s. That doesn’t stop them from having mindblowing sex.
Again, Cari Silverwood pushes limits. So, if you don’t like books that push limits don’t buy this book.
I give 4.5 Stars for Lust Plague.
