In these times, it is nice to read a simply sweet ramance
After reading the overview, I was looking forward to “The Earls’ Secret Bride.” Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Many of the conversations between the characters were over-the-top unrealistic. For example, in Chapter 14 Richard states “Avery and I are about to ride out, our coming mission one of covert secrecy and great stealth.” Who says that?
I think that with revisions this book has a lot of potential. I did like the characters.
This is a fantastic, enjoyable Regency romance. I enjoyed the characters, the settings, the drama, action, and romance. I loved Richard and the lengths he was willing to go to to rescue and protect Rosamonde. He was a true hero, always there when she needed him. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed without reading the others in the series.

Because of family obligations, Rosamonde is betrothed to evil Lord Roth. He is a cruel man the same age as her father. When her lifelong friend Lord Winterly comes to stay for a week long house party, things become complicated. He realizes that he has been in love with Rosamonde for years and refuses to accept her betrothal. Will they be able to find a way out of the troubles they are now faced with? This is a well told story with a few twists I didn’t see coming. You will enjoy it.

Book four in the Regency Brides series it is a well-written story that kept me turning pages I had to know what was going to happen. There is drama, danger, suspense, kidnapping and two very sick men. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mixed feelings on this one
I love most Joanne Wadsworth’s books, but somehow this book fell one star short for me. The reason was the heroine’s forwardness towards the marriage act, and the terms used in the books couldn’t be the ones used in the time frame. It felt like modern and not patterned in those times. Some scenes are somewhat rushed. I believe in the time frame used, some “manners” mentioned within the book was not allowed nor patronized. Although there may have been exceptions in that era, some are quite questionable for me esp when you are considering the time frame of the story.

The Earl’s Secret Bride by Joanne Wadsworth is a fantastic historical romance. Ms. Wadsworth has once again impressed me with her storytelling abilities. She has delivered a well-written book. The characters are stellar. I totally love the characters in this book. Rosamonde is pressured into agreeing to marry neighbor, the Marquess of Roth. When her crush and her brother’s best friend, Winterly, comes for a party things get interesting. Winterly and Rosamonde’s story is loaded with drama, action, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading The Earl’s Secret Bride and look forward to my next book by Joanne Wadsworth. The Earl’s Secret Bride is book 4 of the Regency Brides Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Not your usual time travel story! Was clean, not enough clean stories. Has a great telling of times long gone, when manners was more important than hurting someone’s feeling. The author was great with details! Not filled with soap opera drama!
