Holy. Moly!! Seriously, this series just gets better and better! This book scattered my emotions six ways Sunday!! Honest to goodness! I have had a soft spot for Evan since book one and to find out his back story in this one…..broke me…..and then we have Lexi…equally broken as Evan. I’m not sure my heart could take much more!!
But you know what they say, every one is a little broken, it’s how the light shines through, and boy, these two together?! Nobody deserves the light more than these two, apart from maybe Luke, but that’s a different story all together!! Flipping love this series!
Evan has a past that no one really knows all of it and doesn’t let anyone in fully, even his girlfriend although things haven’t been right between them. Lexi can’t believe her luck at being chosen for the program and leave prison, have somewhere to live and a job.
When Evan meets Lexi, she wasn’t what he was expecting hearing the Gym had employed an ex-con and wasn’t prepared for how he felt.
The chemistry between Evan and Lexi is obvious to everyone that sees them. Although both Evan and Lexi both feel that no one will ever love them, Evan sees all the walls that Lexi has up and knows he wants to break them down, Lexi sees Evan for who he is and for the first time they both wonder if they can, have, a future filled with happiness. Love the series, Evan being the IT guy was always in the background, but he certainly showed who he is now. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Could not put this book down! So I may have said previously that book 3- The Distance Between Us, was my favourite…….Sorry Charlie- Evan has kicked you off top spot!
If you haven’t been reading this series, what the heck have you been reading?? Get into it now!!
If you love flawed characters, a twisty plot, and men who are nothing but loyal to those they love, then you will love these guys.
I know I have said this before but I was so not ready for Evan’s story. We see a side of him that no one knows exist not even the fathers that rescued him by adopting and loving him. But she broke through all of the disguises and walls he has surrounded himself with for years. They both have so much to hide, no reason to trust, no reason to believe life would change, their past haunting every step and decision.
My emotions were all over the place with this book and of course there was someone I wanted to kill (this author won’t let me read a book in this series where I don’t feel homicidal). I laughed out loud and had a smirk a lot of the time but then of course the tears and oh craps and wtf’s were fluent. The story will knock you for a loop, the characters will make you scream, the plot will twist you up and down. The ending will finally let you breathe again. Then you’ll do the crazy thing and grab the next book. . . . after a double shot.
