Anima is awesome! I like that she is the one out to save Than after he is kidnapped to hell. I liked that Than has been persistent and challenges Anima. The world is unique, and I was not expecting what happened in the end. Usually I have an idea of who the bad guy is, but I was completely surprised.
Reaper by Laura Greenwood is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by C.L. Buckland. I just love Laura’s books! They always leave me begging for more! C.L. Buckland did a great job on the narration. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Paranormal Romance.
Anima is labeled an outcast from her society since she is tattooless, can’t reap, and has been alone her whole life besides her demon friend. That starts to change once Than saves her time and time again on her failed reaps and makes her see that it doesn’t have to be that way. He’s then captured by Chesca, the demon queen, but is she brave enough to go to Hell for the man she has conflicted feelings for? The world building and descriptions were vivid- I enjoyed Laura’s own spin on angels, demons, reapers, and Hell. Nim’s journey of self discovery and saving Than was full of revelations and adventure. The only thing that seemed a little off was that there minor battles through Hell were extremely action packed and detailed, but the main one seemed to lack the “epic battle” that I was expecting.
CL did a really good job with this narration! She used different voices for each character, brought their emotions to life, and had an easy voice to listen to.

I liked the story but felt I missed something or was on book 2 instead of book 1. The premise and story idea was extremely unique. I feel I could have been more invested and sucked in if I knew what was going on or given more info before the main story started. The narrator did a good job of staying true to the characters.
This interesting story was of a reaper who was wronged as a child, and the journey she makes to save her love and her powers.
CL Buckland narrated this short but intriguing story.

C L Buckland is a new narrator for me. I could tell easily who was who and I enjoyed the way she presented the story.
I loved the idea of the book, a slightly different take on reapers from what I’ve come across before. The twists in it were new for me and I think worked well. I enjoyed the world building, the way they lived and how that was presented and I’d like to know more about the characters and the world they inhabit. It’s a relatively short listen but feels longer in a good way.
Nim is a Reaper who can’t reap because she doesn’t have tattoos but it doesn’t stop her. When Than is kidnapped Nim takes a crazy journey into Hell to save him. This is a quick read full of demons, reapers, action, battles, romance, twists and a great ending. A fun read and I loved Nim and Than together.
A reaper who can not reap… intriguing by it lone some but add it a journey through hell, family secrets and romance it become one incredible story.
This is a fast paced and well developed story, past and present, and characters. This is a very enjoyable quick read.
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased , honest review.
I enjoyed the writing style and the main characters. I wish the end had a bit more detail but it fit the overall feel of the book that it didn’t. Enjoy.
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
Our heroine is a reaper without powers, living in self-imposed exile. But all is not as it seems.
This story presents a new version of the age-old angels and demons tales, with reapers added to the middle to help souls move along. The tale provides a unique view of this portion of the paranormal realm which is quite intriguing. The main character is well developed while her supporting cast is a little less so, but there is enough meat to understand where things fit. The main plot of the story flows well and certainly sets the stage for further books.
My one complaint was that the boss monster battles seems far too easy. There was more page count and drama in the minion battles, which was kind of backwards. But the story was still enjoyable and I am looking forward to future installments.
Recommended.

3.5 stars. This story was fun and original. It had demons, angels, and of course Reapers. I liked the story line, the characters and the mini adventure the author took me on. It was fun to read and I enjoyed it.
I did think there was too much internal diaolgue from the main character, and would have liked a bit more interaction from her. She also did seem a bit younger then I think she was, because uit felt like she wined (to herself) at times.
I loved Than and thought he was a fun male lead. I really want to know more about Lindsey and her angel. Fun story overall.
Extremely unique read that I enjoyed completely. Well written characters and world building. What more could you ask for in a fast paced plot with reapers, reapers with no powers and demons
This was an amazing read. It was a unique story, and I love Nim and how strong she is against adversity.
Great world building as always and the characters are well written.
Would love to see more stories written in this universe 🙂
Reaper – This is my first read by this author and the first word is the F-bomb! There’s an overview, which I appreciate knowing what a book is about before I read it. This quickly read story moved at a decent pace and had interesting characters. I enjoyed the vivid description of Hades; a bit different from the usual location. Anima and Than are likable and had good chemistry. This is an enjoyable fantasy, not the same pattern as everyone else’s; shows imagination. Needs minor editing. I found this book on Booksprout.co. 4*
Witch’s Potion #1 – After enjoying Reaper, my first by Laura, I wanted to see if she could do witches. This is a fun, light-hearted, quickly read romance between a witch and dryad. The characters are likable and their conversations are interesting with their wordplay, although some of the masculine dialog sounded like a young woman would say them. The added problem of using the love potion was hilarious, along with the fact it’s not THE secret, but became intriguing adding to the confusion. The writing style is makes this relaxing, entertaining read. I just wished the book was edited since the errors were distracting by sheer volume alone. I was disappointed with the ending; a sex scene after being kidnapped instead of looking for the kidnapper? I found this book on Booksprout.co. 3* (Ending and lack of edited lost stars.)
Witch’s Spark #2 – I thought this would be a continuation of Witch’s Potion, but it was mainly about sex, a threesome. I couldn’t get into the depression felt by the couple and then adding the Banshee to the mix. She came across as a stalker, a predator. I couldn’t enjoy the characters as I did in WP. The writing style wasn’t the same as in WP. Disappointed there wasn’t more story even though the family characters did appear here and there. There’s an overview, which I appreciate knowing what a book is about before I read it. This is the last book I’ll read by this author. I found this book on Booksprout.co. 2*
Reaper is the first book that I have read by Laura Greenwood, and while this story started off a bit on unsure footing, it quickly hit stable ground and took off running.
Anima is a reaper. But she’s a reaper with a problem. She doesn’t have the tattoos that her fellow reapers have had since they were young children. Anima has been told that she’ll never really be able to reap because of this. It doesn’t stop her from trying but it doesn’t do her much good. As if she doesn’t have enough problems, she’s told that a demon queen is after her. What?! Why?! What did she do?? LOL! Honestly, things only get better from there.
Anima is such a fun character. She’s a reaper who’s friends with a demon and is crushing hard on a fellow reaper, but yet she kinda despises him. LOL! It’s only because he pops up and helps her out due to her lack of reaper ability. But he seems like a quality guy! Now I will admit that it took me a minute with his name. The first couple times I was thrown because I thought the author had missed an error. No, his name is Than. So just watch that. It’s short for Thanatos. Got it? Good!
Now! There are a couple minor editorial errors but nothing major. My only real complaint about this story is the rushed romance. Honestly, I’d have liked a clue or two that Than had feelings for Anima as well. Without that, it just seems like the romance gets dumped on us out of nowhere.
This book…man, this book is pretty fantastic. The surprises the author puts in there had me scurrying to a quiet room to read in peace and I zoned out! I was eager for more with each sentence I read. I couldn’t get enough.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I love the surprises that the author writes into this story. It is totally unexpected and I loved it! It creates such great build up and pulls me further into the story. The ending is good, but I’m hoping maybe these characters will be revisited.
